Oh my: Obama now below 50% against Romney — in California

Even in the bluest of blue states, he’s now treading water at 48 percent, still comfortably ahead of Romney but unable to grab a majority even in Cali. Big deal or no? Banish the thought from your mind that Romney has a chance of winning there. He doesn’t — although don’t hold me to that if we get another three or four jobs reports that look like today’s. No, the potential significance of this and the reason why there’s some buzz about it among righties on Twitter is that it’s circumstantial evidence that The One might be starting to collapse nationally. That’s John Ellis’s point about the Wisconsin recall, after all: If Walker wins big there, then it may be a sign that a decisive national shift is already under way.

The obligatory historical comparison:

I really think we will be looking at a landslide rejection of the incompetent socialist jerk. If that happens it is conceivable California could turn red.

The GOP should not waste one dime contesting California, New York or New Jersey, regardless what the polls say. If those states flip GOP, Obama had no chance anyway. It’s fools gold to think those states are up for grabs.

California was the only state in the USA to elect MORE Democrats in 2010, during the bloodbath that saw the US House go back to the Republicans.

I can guarantee CA goes for Obama. Done deal. There is no way Romney wins CA.

You may be too young to remember but the left used to show a picture of Nixon laughing like this with the caption “Why is this man laughing?” If I had any skill I would duplicate it and post it everywhere. Especially as the economy tanks this could be worth a million votes!

California is a lost cause, but these numbers do show how vulnerable Hussein is.

All the folks here who declared Romney couldn’t beat Obama may have a lot of crow to eat come November. I’d say the odds Mitt wins are improving and are likely 50/50 at this time.

Romney may be a RINO, but he wants the job more than McCain did, has a more savvy campaign team than the GOP did 4 years ago, and is facing a BHO with an actual record he can’t hide behind.

the incompetent socialist jerk

Obama is not incompetent. Jimmy Carter was incompetent. Carter's disastrous policies were driven by incompetence. What drives Obama's disastrous policies is malice. Cold, calculated malice.

If one measures success by the achievement of one's goals, then Barak Obama may be one of the most successful presidents in US history.

You nailed it. Smacks of a ruse to get the GOP to waste campaign money in states already in the tank for zero.

The GOP should not waste one dime contesting California, New York or New Jersey, regardless what the polls say.

It's attitudes like that that help ensure that we never win those states. Instead of writing those states off, the GOP should be pouring resources into them by running solid candidates at every level of office. Eventually, the tide will turn. It can be done, one congressman and senator at at time.

Nobody gave Bob Turner a chance last September in NYC's congressional district (previously held by Weiner in Brooklyn and Queens). Yet the Republican won! Nobody gave Scott Brown a chance in Kennedy's senate seat in Massachusetts. But guess what?

Republicans can get elected anywhere in this country. Don't cede the Democrats a damn thing.

If one measures success by the achievement of one's goals, then Barak Obama may be one of the most successful presidents in US history.

Historically, Presidential success has been measured by economic and security and foreign policy success. Obama has implemented measures that are killing the economy and promises to do even worse. He is weakening the armed forces and has adopted an Afghanistan policy that may well turn it back over to the Taliban. Our standing with other nations is down. The guy is incompetent.

OTOH, if the measure of success is the ability to get a President's agenda enacted, no matter how misguided it may be, I agree with you, the putz has been a success.

obviously if obama loses California, it will be a 50 state landslide.

if obama has to struggle in California, it will be about a 43 state landslide....

I agree completely. If ANYONE is under the false impression this guy is incompetent, we need to educate them IMMEDIATELY if not sooner.

He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. I WISH it was incompetence. It's not. It is deliberate. It is the cold and calculated implementation of the Cloward-Piven strategy. What appears as incompetence is merely cracks in the facade he has built as a life; glitches in the matrix if you will.

Big deal?

No, huge deal.

For “winning” California?

No, for the signpost of the complete implosion of his campaign and his Presidency.

He can always salvage California by spending all his money there playing to the gays, the environazis and minorities. But he CAN’T be elected nationally under 50 in California.

It’s the same thng for him as if a Republican were under 50 in Alabama.

Republicans can get elected anywhere in this country. Don't cede the Democrats a damn thing.

But, first, by all means, win those states and demographics that you cvan win.

Don't pour money into California if you risk winning Pennsylvania.

Let's have somme priorities here...

You are so right about Romney’s campaign. I have been involved in the Republican Party here in my county in Fl. I listened to part of the ground game
from his campaign last week. They are very organized, and they will not waste money. Can’t say he was my choice, but he wants this so badly. His handlers are very calculating.
