Conservative bloggers say they're targets of dangerous 'SWAT-ing' prank

Conservative bloggers say they are being terrorized by a potentially deadly prank in which phony 911 calls bring armed cops to their doors in search of criminals, all in retaliation for their blog posts.

At least two conservative Internet pundits have reported being victims of "SWAT-ing." In at least one incident, the caller claimed to be the resident of the home and confessed to shooting his wife, according to a recording of the call posted online.

"It's a phone call that could have gotten me killed," Patrick Frey, a deputy district attorney at Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, wrote of the July, 2011 incident on his blog, Patterico's Pontifications.

The most recent incident involved blogger Erick Erickson, who claimed on his Red State site that sheriff's deputies arrived at his Macon, Ga., home Sunday night as his family gathered for dinner. He said the episode was unnerving, particularly considering one deputy had his hand on his pistol. But Erickson admitted it could have been worse had he not warned officials - in light of Frey's experience - that he anticipated being a victim.

Here's what Frey claims happened:

Good evening. I hope you are well.

The guy doing this needs to be disappeared.

I've had four death threats issued to me since I've been on FR. Jim is aware of all of them. Three of them didn't past the smell test, so it didn't bother me. One of them had credibility.

I tracked the guy down (I had a P.I. license), showed up at his door one evening. He opened the door, and I stuck a .357 in his mouth. He pissed all over the floor, his wife tried to scream, but nothing came out of her mouth.

I explained to the both of them why I was there. I left, and have not had a death threat since.

I hope everyone reads my post.

This is a variation of the false wittiness scheme that has been going on for quite a while.

This latest version is particularly nasty unless the cops are smart enough to be ahead of the perp.

It boils down to who is smarter, the perp or the cops.

Hi.

You're killing me. Melted my heart you did.

Just for the record, Jim would not give me the guys IP addy, but told me he lived in Tampa. This was December 2006.

The guys name (yes, I will post it) was William "Bill" Williamson. There were or are, eleven Bill Williamsons in the Tampa area at the time. Took me almost a month to find the right one.

Easy fix to all this:

Pass a law that makes spoofing a phone number and bringing emergency personnel to an unsuspecting house a FELONY, and the bureauKaRATZ will fall all over themselves to find the perp and claim the glory.

Right now, there is no “reward” for a bureauKaRAT to do such a thing.

Like any good dog, when they know they get a bone for good behaviour, bureauKaRATZ are quite predictable.

You know, I sure hope you didn't go sticking your .357 into too many of the wrong guys mouth before finding the right one... ;-D

Good thing you didn't get arrested or shot, yourself. I hear there are a lot of guns running around Florida.

Cheers!

For years, a favorite trick of criminals was to phone in false reports of crimes to lure cops away from where they WERE going to strike.

Experienced cops would catch on quickly, and compensate with educated guesses, then showing up where they weren't expected, catching the criminals red handed.

Some months ago, a PD swatted the mayor's home and killed his dogs because a package containing pot was delivered to the front porch. The cops weren't smart enough to figure that the intended recipient had nothing to do with the mayor and was going to steal the package off the porch, if the coast was clear. It is a safe way for dopers to distribute dope by parcel delivery, but the cops bit badly.

Even I know better to never pick up or accept a package I do not expect, and Mrs. Patriot knows it, too.

Good for you. I would hug your neck if I could. I was terrorized and threatened by a family member of a man that we arrested and convicted for murder back in the 80’s.

It took me a while to track him down but I eventually did and I did what you did and showed up at his home in Atlanta. When he answered I stuck the barrel of my Colt Trooper Mark 3 357 magnum up his left nostril about 3 inches and told him this was his chance to get back at me for helping send his brother to jail.

I was bound and determined that his harassment of me and my family was going to stop and I told him that if I got one more phone call I would come back. I never heard another word from any of that scummy family. He also pissed all over himself. Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do.

Good evening.

We post on this forum, and people all over the world read it. The key is that all of the post we make can be verified. The Daily Kos, DU, and all of the other assholes will not post their real names. It's called "cowardice."

Me, I post with my name, a thousand FReepers have met me face to face, and I have absolutely no problem with the left identifying who I am.

FUBO, and your whole regime.

Everyone, who wants to know who I am(NSA,CIA, FBI, etc.) knows where I live.

Sorry about the rant.
