In tough fight with Romney, Obama longs for McCain
Washington Examiner ^ | June 2, 2012 | By Bryon York

Faced with deteriorating economic conditions and an unexpectedly aggressive Republican opponent, President Obama and his aides are expressing nostalgia for Sen. John McCain, the Republican opponent Obama defeated handily in the 2008 election.

At a rally in Minnesota Friday, Obama said Republicans today are in the grip of a "fever" that has caused them to oppose his initiatives virtually across the board. That "fever," Obama said, will make this presidential race against GOP nominee Mitt Romney particularly contentious -- in contrast to the last time, when Obama faced an opponent, McCain, who declined to engage in the kind of hard-hitting fight that many of his Republican supporters hoped he would.

"I mean, 2008 was a significant election, obviously," Obama told the audience at a Minneapolis restaurant called Bachelor Farmer. "But John McCain believed in climate change. John believed in campaign finance reform. He believed in immigration reform. I mean, there were some areas where you saw some overlap."

...

Later Friday, at a fundraiser in Chicago, Obama made much the same point about his 2008 opponent. "The last time we ran, we had a Republican candidate who -- I had some profound disagreements with him, but he acknowledged the need for immigration reform, and acknowledged the need for campaign finance reform, acknowledged the need for policies that would do something about climate change," Obama said. "Now, what we’ve got is not just a nominee but a Congress and a Republican Party that have a fundamentally different vision about where we need to go as a country."

Many Freepers will be surprised that Romney does not act like a RINO and a wimp.

If that happens I will be flabberghasted.

He’s never had to campaign or work for anything. It has all been handed to him, affirmative action etc., unsealed records on opponents and that kind of stuff. He’s a tool, and not a very sharp one. He has been used, and will be thrown away soon.

The power brokers want Romney in now. We saw how McCain could fight politically against his primary opponent in AZ. Romney has been given the green light to go for it. As others in here have said, I think he will be a smart and aggressive campaigner. Zero isn’t prepared for this, he won’t know what hit him.

Most important thing is you take care of your country, and make sure that House of Representatives and Senate is under real conservative control.

Take your country in control as you want to. Obama hates real fights, for he knows he will loose. Do you have options, no, tough choices you have and it is not easy.

Country first, emotions are for later discussion.

Merci.

FWIW

Kenya was pronounced “KEEN yah” until the Chinese Communist sponsored Mau Mau racist murderer of white women and children leader (and Obama’s father's commander) Jomo KEN yatta became president.

The country is now pronounced KEN yah.

Obama eating dog is nothing compared to what Obama’s daddy had to consume during his Mau Mau “oath” ceremonies...

...look them up—the face eating “bath salts” cannibal was a piker compared to what the Kenyan communists dined on.

Such histories help explain the evil of Obama.

Never had a tough campaign before, have you, champ?

He went up against Bobby Rush (former Black Panther) in a 2000 primary for a House seat and got his ass handed to him - 61% to 30%. The Bobby Rush money quote on Obama: "Barack Obama went to Harvard and became an educated fool. Barack is a person who read about the civil-rights protests and thinks he knows all about it."

Mitt’s waffle iron is always throwing curves. Now it’s throwing curves at Obama, who has already shown wonderful talent in stepping on his own je ne sais quoi without help.

The difference Obama is finding between Mitt and McQuig, Mitt fights. And that is something the man child has never had to contend with in an election. Methinks when it come to Obama, we might just come to appreciate what a down and dirty fighter Mittens can be. He will not hesitate to use strategies and tactics Obama thought he had a lock on.

McQuig fought damn hard, and nasty, when it was time to defend his Senate seat against a conservative. He wasn't really willing to fight for the presidency, which makes me wonder if Obama had something on McCain, which he threatened to expose.

Romney wants the Presidency, and he's willing to fight. Hopefully Romney wants the Presidency badly enough that he'll be willing to operate as a conservative, to forestall TEA Party opposition in 2016.

An historical sadness how the worthy build a glory and the unworthy but savage conquer and then exploit it while taking credit for the whole thing through a simple renaming.

Must not forget Jerusalem.

Well of course OTrauma longs for McCain. McCain was Obama's number-one supporter.

My friend. Don't worry. I'll tell them they have nothing to fear from your presidency.

I must say that while I’m not happy that Romney is the nominee, at least he ISN’T mclame, and is running like he wants to win.

LOL. So Obama is trying to paint Romney as a far right extremist?

Well, that is only going to energize the far right, many of whom might otherwise stay home and refuse to vote for Romney because they thought he was a socialist.

Obama works against himself yet again.

I long for the good old days when Rat Bastard Commie Wannabes were labeled “extremists”.

I guess growing up with the belief system that the only good Commie is a dead Commie is now passe.

I actually hate Pharaoh Obama, and I have never truly hated anyone in my lifetime. Dislike is too kind a word for how he repulses me.

Just another Proud Member of the Obama Enemies List.
