The Obama administration refuses, time and again, to say that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Victoria Nuland, speaking from the State Department, recently repeated over and over that the status of Jerusalem is subject to final status negotiations. Israel thus becomes the only country recognized by the U.S. that is not allowed to name its own capital. But the U.S. recognizes Germanys capital. Its Berlin. This is most curious.
The United States, in organizing the United Nations in 1945, required that only those nations that had declared war on Germany could be members. President Roosevelt told Stalin and Churchill at Yalta that he had written to the presidents of the Latin American states urging them to declare war on Germany (Yalta: The Price of Peace, by S.M. Plokhy, p. 194) We did not require that they declare war on Japan, too, since the USSR by agreement would only declare war on that Asian Empire ninety days after Germany surrendered.
With Nazi Germanys surrender on May 8, 1945, the capital city of Berlin was divided into four Zones of Occupation. In 1949, Bonn was recognized as the capital of West Germany when Britain, France and the U.S. combined their Zones and supported a free and democratic German state. Bonn served honorably as the capital of that staunch Western ally from 1949 to 1999.
After the Fall of the Wall, East and West Germany were reunited in 1990 and the German Bundestag voted to transfer the nations capital back to Berlin. The U.S. State Department never hesitated. Our embassy, and every other embassy, packed up and moved from Bonn to Berlin.
Compare this with Jerusalem. American politicians have promised over and over to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The Israelis name Jerusalem as their capital in their laws, in their history, in their prayers, in their hearts. And yet, the U.S. Embassy remains in Tel Aviv and Obama spokespersons resist calling Jerusalem the capital of Israel. The Obama administration insists that the Israelis must negotiate for their own capital.
Negotiate with whom? Not Jordan. Not Syria. Not Egypt. Not Saudi Arabia. Presumably, they mean with the Arabs of Palestine. That means the former Palestinian Liberation Organization, or PLO. Or, as it is known in Arabic, Fatah. Or, if they ever hold an election on the West Bank, the openly terrorist outfit, Hamas. Hamas is pledged to the destruction of Israel. (Fatah could not get billions in U.S. aid dollars if it openly called for the destruction of Israel, so it simply publishes maps of Palestine that show no Israel. The Fatah leaders dedicate public squares to suicide bombers who murder Israelisand they still cash their U.S. taxpayer checks.)
What connection is there between Jerusalem and Berlin? The late Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al Husseini, spent World War II in Berlin, helping Hitler. He managed to get out of the city before it fell to the Russians. He returned to the Middle East, where he continued his calls for annihilation of the Jews. His great work was continued by his nephew, Yassir Arafat, the founder and promoter of the PLO--whose objective was unvaryingly the elimination of Israel. Offered 97% of the land he claimed by the Ehud Barak government of Israel in 2000, in a Clinton-backed deal, Arafat instead launched another intifadaa revolt of stone-throwing teens.
Instead of giving the Israelis the same goodwill and encouragement we gave to democratic, peaceful Germany, the Obama administration bitterly denounces Israel for building houses for Jews in Jerusalem. This administration, as Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) has noted, denounces Israel more fiercely for building homes than it has denounced Iran for building nuclear weapons.
President Obama took the occasion of his trip to Indonesia to launch a blistering criticism of Prime Minister Netanyahus government of Israel. From Jakarta, his boyhood home, Mr. Obama deplored Jews building homes in their own capital city. He spoke from a city which no Jew can even visit!
Jews have an expression, shanda fur die goyim, which variously translates as a shame before the nations or something done by a Jew that embarrasses the Jewish community before non-Jews.
The Obama policy toward Jerusalem must be a shanda for all Americans. In view of history, law, and logic, it cannot be anything but shameful. We know Mr. Obama despises Winston Churchill. He threw the bust of this great friend of the Jews out into the snow when he entered the White House. But Americans should heed Churchill before demanding final status negotiations on the capital of Israel. He said: Let the Jews have Jerusalem. It is they who have made it famous.
Evidently, if they were Indian Americans, they could.
Just to be clear, the Bush Administration and the Clinton Administration before it also refused to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. It’s a US State Department thing and the Romney Administration isn’t going to recognize it either.
>>The Obama policy toward Jerusalem must be a shanda for all Americans.
Especially the Jews who voted for him and will vote for him again in November. Most of us here voted for Sarah Palin and the “old wrinkly dude”. We knew what Obama would do to Israel and the USA.

Obama is anti Israel...and every move He makes is in support of Islamic sides....
Because Obama is a MUSLIM....and Obama is a LIAR.
Why Can't Israel get off the American dole?
How about we continue supporting our only ally in the Middle East, and take all the murdering moslem mfs off the dole.
“The Obama administration insists that the Israelis must negotiate for their own capital.”
Israel should tell Obama that they do not recognize him as president.
Obama, and his corrupt tribe, can “insist” until he turns white, but I will always stand with Israel, period.
The Bush Administration (”new world order” Bush, that is) also opposed Israeli building in East Jerusalem.
We’re approaching the time for this end-game. Expect a “magical” peace deal eventually.
Jerusalem will be the focus of the world in the Last Days.
When the Jews captured the city in 1967, they gave the Eastern half back to the King of Jordan, who turned it over to Yasser Arafat and the PLO in 1974 as I recall.
Betraying the Jews on Jerusalem and Israel is a very bad idea, according to God.
King James Version (KJV)
12 The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Notice how that angle (what you said) rarely comes up. We were giving Egypt nearly as much as Israel. And the Egyptians assemble M-1’s under license in Egypt (or they did unless that changed recently) and they were working towards 240 F-16’s.
That’s a whole lot of F-16’s.
Thats a whole lot of F-16s.
You are correct: That is a lot of F-16s. It puts them up there in the league with Japan (in terms of numbers of fighter jets).
Caveat: Want to bet the Egyptians cannot launch more than 50% of them at any one time?
And, if they do, I wonder how many would be sent on one-way kamikaze missions?
I always wondered why they wanted so many. I submitted (a couple years ago) that they eventually intended to hit Israel yet again (this was before the Arab Spring).
They also sport some of our best shells for the M-1.
Final status means after Israel has given up everything else there will still be no peace because the Arabs are demanding Jerusalem.
Oh yes. That is definitely a major prophetical sign.
The Time of the Gentiles (I am a Gentile) is winding down.
Daniel’s 70th week must not be too far away if we can see Ezekiel 38 on the near horizon (hence the changes in Turkey, Libya, Iran, etc.).
Because the majority of Jewish voters back the commies who hate them. self loathers get no sympathy from me. Not my problem
Mark Levin gets it. Jackie Mason gets it. 35% of them get it. Its not enough to save Israel.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
IMHO, it’s a good question.
I haven’t seen a CT which well describes the reason.
I would assume it has far more to do with Masonic / Illuminati type policies. Scripturally, I can still see the stumbling stone being there, even if today’s worldly Judaism declared Israel’s capital as Jerusalem and all others accepted it.
I suspect it has more to do with the mystery of iniquity facing the mystery of the blindness of Israel and neither can get along, manifesting how until both turn to accept God’s Plan through faith in Christ, neither will ever produce a lasting peace.
Don't worry about it. God is going to save Israel, whatever the US of a thinks or does.
Interesting thoughts. Thank you for sharing them.
