June 1 (Bloomberg) -- Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, in a break with his party, said he could support tax increases to help reduce the federal government’s budget deficit.

The brother of former President George W. Bush told a congressional panel in Washington today that he could back a theoretical deficit-reduction package that would include $1 in tax increases for every $10 in spending cuts.

“This will prove I’m not running for anything,” [Bush] said, prompting laughter from lawmakers and the audience.

“I appreciate your candor,” said Representative Lloyd Doggett, a Texas Democrat who had pressed Bush on the issue.

Jeb Bush is a fool. Taxes is part of the reason that our economy is in the toilet. This ass should be kicked out of the Party.

$1 in tax increases for every $10 in spending cuts

Which works out to $10 in tax increases for every $1 (or $0) in spending cuts. He should know that! Where has he been?

Why is Jeb so ignorant of reality?

Tax increase are ONLY ever used to BUY VOTES!

They are NEVER used to “reduce deficits”!

Of ALL people, Jeb should have learned this lesson. His dad got snookered on this type of deal and lost his presidency. Sort of like Charlie Brown and the football, Jeb doesn’t think Liberal Lucy will pull the football out again just before he kicks. GHWB signed off on tax increases for future spending reductions. Reagan did the same. Reagan learned his lessons, but the Bush’s always seem to take Dems at their word. Fortunately, on the tax issue, 43 stood strong on the issue.

We’ve had lots of tax increases over the years and have yet to ever, ever, have a spending decrease.

Spending decreases are unicorns. They have never happened.

1992 (Bush 41) “Read my lips, no new taxes!” 2012 (Jeb Bush) “Read my lips, TAXES, TAXES, TAXES!!!”

At least Jeb had to balls to kill his career in the open.

Paging Walter Mondale!!!
