(Business Insider) Florida state officials will continue their quest to purge purportedly ineligible people from voter-registration rolls, a representative of Secretary of State Ken Detzner said Saturday, in defiance of objections from the U.S. Justice Department and county officials who say the policy violates two federal voting laws.
On Thursday, T. Christian Herren Jr., the head of the Justice Departments voting section, said the effort to remove voters appears to violate the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which outlaws discriminatory voting practices that disenfranchise minorities. On a list of almost 2,700 voters the state suspects are noncitizens, blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented, according to an analysis by the Miami Herald, which concluded Democratic and independent voters are the most likely to be targeted.
Despite the warning, Detzners representative said on Saturday the state intends to go forward with its campaign. We have a year-round obligation to ensure the integrity of Floridas elections. We will be responding to (the Justice Departments) concerns next week, Chris Cate wrote in an email to Reuters.

MOST CORRUPT US ATTORNEY GENERAL IN THE NATION'S HISTORY.
Maybe it’d be better if the Fla. official was named T. Jihad Herren?
Corruption, aye, but this bloke has done nothing but grind political axes since he took office.
Most AGs will stage the occasional organized crime and/or drug bust in order to convince the public they are - ahem - actually doing the job of the nation’s chief law enforcement officer.
Nazi analogies are cheap and easy but they are appropriate when the police use the power of the state to suppress political opposition rather than solve crimes.
On a list of almost 2,700 voters the state suspects are noncitizens, blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented, according to an analysis by the Miami Herald, which concluded Democratic and independent voters are the most likely to be non citizens.
This IS Florida, which has a large population of blacks
NOW, of those 2,700 how many ACTUALLY turned out to be
non citizens, people who should NOT have voted.
How can it be fair to the rest of the polis to have an
election influenced by non eligable voters?
Seems like playing by the rules is a racial issue....don't understand the Holder mind-set....
Thanks for posting. Article/thread BUMP! HOORAY Florida!
You're not disenfranchising anyone if the people you are removing are dead, or don't have the legal right to vote. Talk about trying to stretch the law. The Dems are pathetic. Always trying to change the rules to suit their own selfish purpose.
He even looks like a ‘RAT.
He’s Amerika’s poster boy for abuse of power.
And Tombstone should secure the water they need. The Hell with this dictatorial Federal government.
So dead blacks are minorities now with the right to vote? We need to get these a**hats out of office.
What if it’s 53,000 crackers?
He’s a punk. Nice clothes on a punk only makes a well dressed punk.
SCOTUS just told the town that won’t die to dry up.
It really doesn’t matter if the ineligible voters are pink or purple. All that matters is if they were ineligible. So, when looking at the stats on numbers on the rolls who were found ineligible, color or ethnicity is irrelevant.
Were they eligible, or were they not?
Simple question, Holder.
If FL is purging people who are actually eligible voters, there’s a problem.
Otherwise, there’s not.
That's the whole point. The rules are the white man's rules. Right now though, cretins like Holder are less dangerous than the Jamie Dimons, Christine Lagardes, Ben Bernankes etc. of the world. They're creating the conditions that will loose goons like Big Sis and Holder on all of us.
I SWEAR I didn;t think anyone could be more EVIL than the KILLER of Women and Children, Janet Reno.....then Eric Holder came along........he’s gaining on KILLER RENO.....
If NO race mentioned on either; and if the number is proportionately larger for these two groups then the proportion of registered voters, it is a simple indicator that the members of the groups are the ones involved in voter fraud.
If there is no indication of “A”, the sorting by race is done after determination of ineligibility NOT before, then we can further deduce this group is involved in deception.
This is not profiling...It’ reality!
Yeah...having your vote cancelled out by an illegal or dead person on the voter roles is the ULTIMATE voter disenfranchisement! State AGs need to look our for the legit voters interests.
Everyone going to the Democrat CONVENTION has to SHOW ID’S!!!! Hypocrisy SQUARED!
Florida is among a handful of states covered by the Voters Rights Act Section V, which requires areas with a deep history of racial discrimination mostly Southern states to seek approval from the Justice Department or a panel of federal judges before attempting to change any voting-related policy. Five Florida counties are required to abide by that law.
Does the Privileges and Immunities clause in Article IV, Section 2 of the Constitution prohibit this (specifically referring to the Federal gov't's implementation of a rule applicable only to certain people and states), or does it prohibit merely a State from doing this?
I wish they would tell him this in these exact words.
Just a wild guess as to why Latinos might be a 'disproportionate' part of the suspected 'noncitizens' on Florida's voter roles.
Maybe because Latinos are the overwhelming majority of 'noncitizens', or illegal aliens in the US?
Just a guess.
WOO - HOO Florida!!!
Simple question, Holder.
Despite what that liberal turd Colbert says, reality actually has a conservative bias (see Europe's economy for proof).
That most illegals purged were hispanic is merely proving statistics right in a state bordering latino countries like Cuba and Haiti.
And liberals hate statistics that actually prove common sense correct (like minority crime rate, gun ownership effectiveness vs crime, etc).
Don’t forget who was Number 2 at DOJ when Waco went down. Janet Reno was just following orders from Billy Jeff and Eric Holder.
, according to an analysis by the Miami Herald, which concluded Democratic and independent voters are the most likely to be non citizens.
...Okay then. NOT belonging here to begin with. That’s just great. Whether lax or strict (in some states dumb clucks only need a utility bill showing a name), not being a citizen should be the major disqualification. Hey, NEVER EVER ACCEPTABLE. Frankly, since this such an awesome responsibility there should be a test before being allowed to vote...IMHO.
Good point. Every non citizen who votes disenfranchises, to some degree, the vote of a qualified citizen. Maybe the eligible voters could bring some sort of a lawsuit.
Really, it’s the only appropriate response to socialists.
OMG! I had forgotten that Holder was #2 at the DOJ at WACO time!!! Although Holder is ALWAYS #2 in my book....
Florida Tells Holder to Blow it Out His A _ S
Holder is nothing but a political hack. He’s doing what he was hired to do.
This man is dispicable. He flies in the face of everything that is right.
That’s what I was trying to get at, how can it be
descriminatory if the actual numbers of illegal
voters reflects a higher minority number of non
You would think that anything that helps certify
the legality of our electorial process would be
welcomed by BOTH parties, that it isn’t only indicates
to me that one party has a vested interest in swaying
Great news to hear that Florida, at least so far, is standing up to the federales. I hope Rick Scott orders his people to hang tough, and continues to tell Holder “to Blow it Out His A _ S.”
Just sent Gov Scott a nice thank you note.
Yes Eric blow it out your African-American ass.
If Mexico issued an arrest warrent for that POS Holder and he came to say Florida, could Florida officials have the bastard arrested and extradict his filthy sorry ass to Mexico to face charges relating to fast and furious??
Hey Boehner ya neutered punk, you going to bury fast and furious cause you are afraid to be called a racist? Ya candy assed punk!!!
How dare those bigots discriminate against the voting rights of those persons of the deceased persuasion? Give the dead the vote! Give the dead the vote!
Wouldn’t it be great if Arizona, North Carolina, Florida - all states threatened and bullied by Holder work together and push back. If they all decide to tell him NO, what exactly can he do without seriously hurting himself and Obama’s chances. Maybe the Secretary of States and Governors in these states “get” that they are fighting for their existence and that four more years of this administration is unthinkable. If only . . .
Eric Holder looks like the rat that he is.
I don’t know if I agree with that. He may have done more dishonest things because his boss is an out of control psycho who knows no bounds. Janet Reno may have done less criminal acts in number but they were real doozies in their time. The Branch Davidians, Elian Gonzales, the Wall to name a few.
Has this story been reported in the MSM?
Until it is reported by MSM I am suspicious of its veracity.
Absolutely! For a couple of cycles kept a thread on the articles dealing with voter fraud as reported...where, when, who etc, (IIRC Alamo gal did something similar—better organized and more comprhelnsive— before that)
Ran acrossed it the other day.
Some states have gone far to correct the problem. (mine included) Others are trying. We are making progress...Everyone is happy but the Progressives! How ironic!
Did you forget your /sarc tag?
“that disenfranchise minorities.”
The previously-departed are a majority. They are just not eligible to vote.
Way to go Florida . . . it is about time the likes of Florida and Arizona stand up to this tyrant and his racist attitude towards the much of the American Public.
“... blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented...”
Could that be because ACORN and the Democrat party have registered illegal aliens, felons, non-residents, and dead people? Kudos to FL for insisting on their right to clean up the voting rolls. It’s time every state does.
