In Defiance Of US Justice Department, Florida To Continue Voter Purge
International Business Times ^ | 2 June 2012 | Ashley Portero

Florida state officials will continue their quest to purge purportedly ineligible people from voter-registration rolls, a representative of Secretary of State Ken Detzner said Saturday, in defiance of objections from the U.S. Justice Department and county officials who say the policy violates two federal voting laws.

On Thursday, T. Christian Herren Jr., the head of the Justice Department's voting section, said the effort to remove voters appears to violate the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which outlaws discriminatory voting practices that disenfranchise minorities. On a list of almost 2,700 voters the state suspects are noncitizens, blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented, according to an analysis by the Miami Herald, which concluded Democratic and independent voters are the most likely to be targeted.

Despite the warning, Detzner's representative said on Saturday the state intends to go forward with its campaign. "We have a year-round obligation to ensure the integrity of Florida's elections. We will be responding to (the Justice Department's) concerns next week," Chris Cate wrote in an email to Reuters.

Violation of Federal Law is the purview of the judicial system (i.e., a judge or jury rules). Charging violation is the purview of the DOJ, yet in this case, the DOJ is only using intimidation (i.e., letters, conjecture, publicity, etc.) instead of indictiments.

This tells me that the DOJ KNOWs their assertions are bullsh!t and they wouldn’t stand a snowball’s chance in a fair court with a fair jury.

Florida is right to ignore the DOJ until they are either legally enjoined or sued by the DOJ....in other words, “DOJ ,-Shut the F@ck UP!”

Holder willsoon be gone along with his Buddy Obama. If we can just survive another 8 months.

Hopefully he will be prosecuted after his removal.

Good for Florida. In fact you should show your US passport or birth certificate proving US birth to register to vote.

"blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented"

No kidding?

"Democratic and independent voters are the most likely to be targeted"

You don't say!

If it were not for all the illegal, dead, non-existent, fictitious, "undocumented", and otherwise fradulent voters, the Democrats would have been thrown out of office long ago!

It's no wonder that they oppose anything that interferes with voter fraud!

Holder is complaining that federal law requires that voter purging be complete 90 days before a federal primary or general election, so as to give improperly purged voters an opportunity to challenge the purging. The primary is in August, so it needed to have been completed earlier.

The obvious response is to just say "OK, the August primary will use the original rolls, and the November election will use the purged rolls".

Holder's objective here is to give an excuse for Democrat-controlled counties to halt purging until it's too late.
