In Defiance Of US Justice Department, Florida To Continue Voter Purge
International Business Times ^ | 2 June 2012 | Ashley Portero

Florida state officials will continue their quest to purge purportedly ineligible people from voter-registration rolls, a representative of Secretary of State Ken Detzner said Saturday, in defiance of objections from the U.S. Justice Department and county officials who say the policy violates two federal voting laws.

On Thursday, T. Christian Herren Jr., the head of the Justice Department's voting section, said the effort to remove voters appears to violate the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which outlaws discriminatory voting practices that disenfranchise minorities. On a list of almost 2,700 voters the state suspects are noncitizens, blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented, according to an analysis by the Miami Herald, which concluded Democratic and independent voters are the most likely to be targeted.

Despite the warning, Detzner's representative said on Saturday the state intends to go forward with its campaign. "We have a year-round obligation to ensure the integrity of Florida's elections. We will be responding to (the Justice Department's) concerns next week," Chris Cate wrote in an email to Reuters.

Question for liberals...........

Who is not eligible to vote in America and each of it's states? Anyone? Foreigners? Dead people? Pets? Felons serving time in prison? Seal clubbing democrats?

I would just like to hear who is not eligible to vote from their analysis of federal and state laws. I think it'd pretty cut-n-dry.

Looks like the DOJ has been using the standard lawyer’s trick. Write an intimidating letter on the Firm’s letterhead stationary, figuring the potential defendant will settle out of court, i.e a shakedown.

Florida has called their bluff.

Maybe more states will grow a spine.

If I were the Florida Attorney General, I’d respond back to Holder with a letter that said:

“Dear Attorney General Holder,”

Thank you so much for your kind concern about what the STATE OF FLORIDA is doing to purge itself from illegal voters.

In contrast to your sideways belief that proving oneself eligible for voting is a violation of someone’s civil liberties, we here in the STATE OF FLORIDA believe that purging such upholds the RIGHTS and VALUE of legitimate voters in the STATE OF FLORIDA.

That being the case, until the Department of Justice sues in a legitimate jurisdictional venue instead of issuing veiled commentary, please be so kind as to go f@ck yourself.

Yours Ever,

Attorney General of the STATE OF FLORIDA

If blacks and Latinos are disproportionately affected, the DOJ should have no problem in presenting a full accounting AND PROOF of the numerous individuals affected.

IOW, Holder, your BS conjecture wasn’t enough..

Go Florida!

Florida Freepers! Please read the article at the link! The title is misleading!

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/348076/20120602/florida-voter-purge-state-defiance-justice-department.htm

FROM THE ARTICLE:
While Florida's state officials continue to champion the plan, its 67 county election supervisors said Friday they will discontinue the effort to purge voters.

Vicki Davis, a Martin County elections supervisor who is also president of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections, told the Palm Beach Post they believe the state data is flawed and that they intend to heed the Justice Department's warning. “There are just too many variables with this entire process at this time for supervisors to continue,” Davis said.

PLEASE GO TO THIS LINK BELOW! Click on your Florida County, and it will take you to your Sup. of Elections office. Contact your Sup. of Elections and tell him/her you EXPECT them to do their job and make sure that only LIVING AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO'S LEGAL RESIDENCE IS FLORIDA ARE ALLOWED TO VOTE!

Good. Let the “Just Us” department take care of the folks that are dead or twice registered to handle the outflow.

Lose Florida, Lose your worthless job. (Maybe Sheriff Joe can make you a trustee Holder!)

You guys are missing the point here

If Florida is as close as the marxists think it will be, this is setting up the foundation for a legal challenge to toss votes out the results
This DOJ action only is based on the four counties under the voting act

All libtard counties...see how many gop ballots get challenged as conpared to dem ballots

Put NOTHING beyond these bastards to steal Florida

Vicki Davis ran unopposed in 2008, her second term.

Martin County is heavily Republican, almost by a 2-1 margin.

Accounting for the MSM’s past practices, if the party affiliation isn’t mentioned, she’s probably Democrat.

Local media is jumping all over the “Democrats-good-Republicans-bad” meme, as expected.

Sent message to Supervisor of Polk County. Asked her to do the right thing and keep our voter registrations fair and just. Also, asked to purge the rolls so we have open and fair elections in our county. Dead people and illegals do not belong on the rolls.

That's BECAUSE blacks and Latinos are more likely to be illegally on the lists in the first place.

You're right - shakedown - intimidation - bullying... the Chicago Way...
