MILWAUKEE (AP) Five months before Election Day, you'd think there would be no better harbinger about who will win the White House than a contentious statewide vote in a critical battleground state that never moved on from the 2010 campaign.
You'd be wrong.
Yes, there will be tea leaves to read after Wisconsin voters decide Tuesday whether to recall rookie Republican Gov. Scott Walker, a tea party-supported GOP hero who might be the only politician in America to rival President Barack Obama in contentious achievement that inspires loathing among opponents.
A win for Walker and some will say Mitt Romney is sure to be the first GOP candidate to carry Wisconsin since the party's last winner here: Ronald Reagan in 1984. A loss for Walker will lead others to say the presumptive Republican nominee should give up on the state.
Don't listen.
On both sides of the fall campaign, there's a feeling the outcome of Tuesday's vote no matter who wins will highlight reasons both Obama and Romney should compete hard for Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes. There's an acknowledgement that neither side is likely to wake up Wednesday with a clear edge, given there's so much time left before November.

Recall Election Could Foretell November Vote
WAUKESHA, Wis. If this was ever an election just about Wisconsin, it is far more than that now.
Liberals are funny.
Translation: We in the media have figured out that the Leftwing nutcase who only cares about government unions is going to lose (again); therefore this election is meaningless. We used to think the election was vitally important and a harbinger of a future socialist revolution sweeping the country, but that was back before we realized that very few people supported our guy. So, to reiterate: this race is meaningless.
The pressholes are back pedalling.
I’m sure the AP would feel different if Walker was losing.
So.....if Scott wins, it means nothing. If Scott looses, it means everything.
Is that correct?
Perfect translation.
I think they feel differently now and they are just lying. It is all they have.
I’m beginning to wonder if the election results will even make the airwaves, or disappear down the memory hole.
Looks like a huge Walker win is coming on Tuesday.
Propaganda as bad as any found in Pravda.
Your translation nails it!
The Ass. Press writes some of the best unintentional comedy you’ll ever read. Imagine the article if Gov. Scott Walker were losing in the polls. “Nothing to see here, move along bitter clingers, move along.”
No kidding...and here I thought the WI election meant something. Thank you Thomas Beaumont objective AP reporter for telling me “Don’t Listen” and “You’d Be Wrong”.
Wisconsin: Media now say recall isn’t a big deal after all ping!
The left depends on their deception to work. Not this time.
That’s exactly right. Regardless of the result of the recall election the dems plan on declaring victory.
Wisconsin: Media now say recall isnt a big deal after all ping!
(Oops; forgot the ping part of that last ping.)
Oh, yes, and all the 'hard news' I have ever read have always included such gems as the sentence: "Don't listen."
The press has gone straight from 'biased' to 'utterly surreal'.
Back when the hard core lefties were marching around the capital, it was ‘the whole world is watching’
His last tweet is link to this “article”. Perhaps some responses are in order.

LMAO... the libs have figured out that they are going to lose, so it’s time to change the narrative.
Obama will not set foot in Wisconsin to avoid the taint of another epic fail, and now this “it won’t mean anything” spin. Don’t they know that the concession speech is supposed to come AFTER the vote.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
As the impending ASSKICKING the Demonrat UNIONS are about to receive becomes ever more apparent, Thomas Beaumont has joined the Pravda League of Obama Girls, the "journalists" oh so eager to whistle past the graveyard of Obama's campaign.
I love it.
It depends on your definition of loose.
For a group that has seldom had a clue, it isn’t surprising when they can’t recognize ones when they see them.
Here’s a hint idiots, when major labor groups pour millions into an election effort, there’s a clue in there somewhere.
When the public refuses to back their play, unions are in serious trouble.
Go Walker!
On Wed. June 6th the 20 victory centers in WI will switch from campaigning for Walker to campaigning for Romney. Another plus for the GOP that the union thugs hadn’t thought about.
I knew I’d be called upon my mistake. Too late to change it, but thanks for pointing it out!!
Sorry NGZ, I just thought it was too funny to pass up.
So now this election apparently has no significance?
This is huge and the MSM knows it. We are winning!!
I can’t complain (although I did). The lose, loose thing grinds at me, so I should have know better.
Though I must admit, I still get a tad bit confused when it comes to those 2 words and how to properly use them.
I should NOT rush to post....as I often do!
Covering for the loss
"It's a Wisconsin-specific moment, not a national referendum," said Democratic strategist John Lapp, a veteran senior strategist for several election campaigns in Wisconsin. (Emphasis added.)
Add to it that this is an AP article and it's clear this recall is MOMENTUS. Indeed, that's exactly why I gave pro-Walker forces $700 to defeat the recall.
“I should NOT rush to post....as I often do!”
Hey, don’t apologize for rushing. If you snooze you loose.
It depends on your definition of loose.
Is the poster talking about loose in the sense of "not tight" or is there something else at issue within this introductory clause, "If Scott looses"?
Hmmm.
The poster just misspelled the word and I was just having fun nitpicking.
I was too. Misspelled words just jump off the page to me.
And FR has plenty of them. For some reason some FReepers cannot differentiate between “loose” and “lose” (most choose the former when they should use the latter) and “they’re,” “there,” and “their,” among many, many others.
