Google up "nuclear weapons effects" and dial up some numbers for a 100-kiloton fission weapon, which is in the ballpark of the upper end of the "tactical" spectrum of violence. Then apply those numbers to your favorite large SMSA (Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area), and try to form a mental picture of what will be left.

These guys are living in the military past. Guys like DinnerJacket aren't just playing around. They all want to be like the Domino's Pizza driver and deliver in 30 minutes or less.
