Ministers skeptical on Elizabeth Warren

Dogged by weeks of questions about whether her claims of Native American heritage helped advance her career, Elizabeth Warren now faces skepticism from some of Boston’s black ministers whose appearance with Scott Brown just after his 2010 election to US Senate helped shape Brown’s image as a different breed of Republican.

“It will take more than an impromptu endorsement by Governor Patrick to make an intellectually compelling case why Elizabeth Warren deserves to be the next senator,” said the Rev. Eugene F. Rivers III, referring to the state’s governor, Deval Patrick, who is black. Rivers said he will ask Warren and Brown to meet with the black community to address its concerns. “The support she receives should be earned.”

...“Affirmative action — that issue becomes important because it points to who you are,” added the Rev. Jeffrey Brown, executive director of the TenPoint Coalition, who pointed to an assertion that she is 1/32 Cherokee. “I’m thinking to myself, if I was 1/32 white, or of European descent, would I be able to put on an application that I was white? And if you look at a picture of me, you see what I’m talking about. The question is not a trivial one, or one that can just be dismissed as a Republican tactic. And I say this as someone who campaigned for Martha Coakley and I’m independent in terms of my political status.”

helped shape Brown’s image as a different breed of Republican

A liberal Republican - not all that different from the rest of the sell out republican party of today.

And I say this as someone who campaigned for Martha Coakley and I’m independent in terms of my political status.”

He campaigned for a hard left moron, and then in the same sentence claims he's politically independent. Anyone in MA see the contradiction in this? (maybe that couple of dozen who are actually conservative) I'm guessing that you have to live outside the northeast to see this as the idiotic nonsense that it is.

It sure does. If you support it you are in favor of enslaving one part of the population to support another part based solely on the color of the person's skin. I guess it's like MLK said, "I have a dream where you are judged not by the content of your character, but the color of your skin."

Nope. In Massachusetts, people who identify as "independents" are typically Democrats who don't want others to think of them as lock-step with the machine that is the Democrat party here in MA.

I’m unenrolled in MA and usually vote Republican (not that we get many here and folks like Brown and Romney are not hardcore conservatives to be sure). Nevertheless, ask Dems about people like Scott and Mitt and they’ll say they’re
hardcore Nazi Rethuglicans who want to starve kids, kill old
people, wreck the economy. (Brown has to win their vote and his ads portray him as “the second most bipartisan Senator”. In MA you have to do that to win lefty votes.
You have to be a moderate, since a hardcore conservative
might get 10 per cent of the vote here. The alternative
is Liz Moron.)

It’s Brown or a woman who is at best 1/32nd Cherokee and says she is a “Native American” (aka Amer. Indian). Seriously. The uber moonbat.

M.L King by the way who wanted people to be judged by
content of character not color of skin (Warren is a Red
Indian—clearly!) was actually a registered Republican.
Lefty in many ways but King actually belonged to the party of Lincoln.

OK. I guess the definition of the word "independent" takes on local meaning in MA to mean slightly different flavor of Democrat.

I love this part about being a Freeper from Massachusetts: On FR, people like Brown & Romney are communists. In Massachusetts, people like Brown & Romney are arch conservatives who want to send America back to 1820.

Lieawatha will win

Could not agree with you more. She will find a way to get off of this and back on to "I'll take the guys who charge you 30% credit card interest and put them in the stocks in the public square". She will win comfortably.

Warren was smart in one sense she picked the right “minority” to claim as her own. She never would have gotten away with declaring herself to be Black or Hispanic with a dubious 1/32 pedigree. Native Americans are not defined by race hustlers like Al Sharpton or La Raza.
