Ron Paul supporters arrested as La GOP Shreveport convention splits in two
examiner.com ^ | June 2, 2012 | James Plummer

Chaos erupted in Shreveport today as police officers arrested state GOP delegates who support Ron Paul for the party's 2012 presidential nomination.

The dispute arose after the state party's central committee issued "supplemental rules" earlier this week concerning the delegate selection process. A press release from the Ron Paul campaign this afternoon referred to the 11th hour changes as "illegal rules."

After fights in the Rules Committee Friday, state party chairman opened the convention moving to pass the new rules, when the majority of delegates moved to elect a new convention chair. When Villere refused to yield the dais, the majority elected a new chair and turned their chairs. As this was happening, the Villere faction convinced the Shreveport Police Department to arrest some of the Paul delegates holding microphones for "trespassing."

During the forcible arrests, Shreveport police dislocated the hip of the gentlemen in the video here, identified by the Paul campaign as State Central Commiteeman Henry Herford Jr. of Franklin Parish.

Yikes Ncalburt. You clearly feel strongly about this. 13 replies on this post! I just think it is time now to start laying the groundwork for a united GOP front.

Baby steps! But everyone must play by the rules.

I could not find that killer bumper sticker that I saw here a couple days ago, so I made a low quality new one. My apologies to the original owner. I may indeed be (your words) "NAIVE and UNINFORMED" but when I was 19 years old I voted for Ross Perot and I will never forget that lesson! Ha! Hope you like the graphic. ;)

The will of the LA GOP voters was being run down by these radical leftists !
Paul came in last place in our closed primary.
But the radicals who are Dem party operatives have analyzed each state GOP delegate system tried to seize control and overthrow the will of the LA voters using the delegate committee games.
These same Obama radicals did the same thing to Hillary and it was real scary in TX Dem delegate meeting .
Just goggle it.

Did you read how that Paulbot could care less the LA primary vote results but recited the delegates rules.
This is how the left plays games to seize control and the voters be damned !

Dead the primary was back in March, thethe results are below. Paul got 6.1 percent to Romney’s 26.7 and Santorum’s 49 percent. This does not support a strong Ron Paul showing.

Louisiana Primary
100% precincts reporting

Candidate Votes Pct. Del.
Santorum 91,305 49.0% 10
Romney 49,749 26.7% 5
Gingrich 29,655 15.9%
Paul 11,460 6.1%
Others 4,208 2.3%

Paulbots don't care about the LA GOP primary results inwhich where Paul was crushed and due NO delegates .

You seize control from within using well analyed gaps and holes in each state GOP delegate convention.

Who cares what the LA GOP voters wanted .
YouPaulbot leftists want power and control so you can cause chaos at the GOP convention in front of the TV cameras. !
I outed the Paulbot state delegates scam so go play the poor victum card elsewhere.

The Ron Paul camp won their delegates fair and square. The LA GOP needs to ask itself why.

Some actual results:

  1. Minnesota: Santorum trounced Paul 45% to 27% in caucus goers. Paul ended up with 30 delegates to Santorum's 3.

  2. Maine: Romney and Paul nearly tied in caucus goers, 39% to 36% respectively. Paul ended up with 21 delegates to Romney's 2.

  3. Louisiana: Santorum trounced 4th place Ron Paul 49% to 6%. Somehow, the Paulistas think they are entitled to 30 of Louisiana's 46 delegates.

The Ron Paul camp may think running dyed-in-the-wool Paulistas as uncommitted delegates is winning them fair and square. But normal people looking in wouldn't be swayed by the above three examples alone.

Yes, delegate allocation rules need to be overhauled big time.

But the key to that overhaul should be in awarding a lot more delegates to the states which actually deliver electoral votes to the GOP in the fall and a lot less to those which don't.

Not in making the GOP more brownshirt friendly like the Democrats are.

I am fed up with the FAR LEFTISTS who are storming all the Gop state delegate conventions and trying to seize control.

Just Google the topic and you will see that these Paulbots have taken over entire state gop delegations (WY,IA ,..)in which Paul was crushed in the Gop primary just like in LA .

Then watch these Paulbots post here like their victims blah ...

When Paul came in last place but the Paulbots did not care about the voters decision so want to tried to take over the LA delegation .

Just watch them do that attack in TX too.

Yup and see my examples in post #45. Some people think Ron Paul is wonderful just because he ain't Mitt Romney. But his followers have cost Santorum a lot more delegates than they have Romney with these brown shirt tactics. And the object isn't to win for their candidate. That has long gone past the point of no return.

The object is to disrupt the GOP convention for no reason other than making it easier for Obama to win reelection. If the object was to change the allocation rules for the future in the manner I described in post #45, then a lot of us could be sympathetic to the Paulistas here.

But it isn't. And they know it. It's all about their egos.

But you have to agree that Villere and friends can't simply ignore elected chairmen they do not like and then use excessive police force to enforce their will.

It makes Romney supporters look like strong-arm elite Rhino thugs and further fractures the party. It makes Paul's people look like champions of conservatism fighting the old Republican establishement.

I want to also mention that after the chaos of the convention, one the Ron Paul people (I can't remember her name) called the Moon Griffon radio show to say they came to the convention in the spirit of reconciliation and the intention of conceding some seats to Romney supporters.

these Paulbots are Obama drones working away like Termites to destroy the GOP chances of stopping Obama and Holder.

The GOP needs to step in here and stop these state delegates storm trooper games .

1. Rules Chairman loses election
2. The next day, the State Party Chairman proclaims that old Rules Chairman back in to his position
3. The new Rules Chairman(elected by Paul supporters) objects, State Chairman orders him removed from the floor by police
4. Paul supporters make motion to elect new Party Chairman, succeed in voting in their guy
5. Old State Chairman refuses to leave position
6. Paul supporters turn around seats, begin their own convention
7. Old State Chairman orders police to remove Paul supporters and their elected Chairman

Typical response of the statists in both the republican and democrat party.

Might makes right.

I note that the gopE supporter(s) on this thread are typically shrill and childish in their responses.

If you look at the facts in the story, you will see that Villere used leftist techniques, not Robert’s Rules of Order, to take over the meeting and when the delegates refused to allow it, he used another leftist technique called intimidation, to steal the meeting from membership.

I’ve seen this process used 1000 times in democrat controlled municipalities. It is how the leftists and RINOs have corrupted the GOP beyond recognition as an American political party.

For the GOP party ‘elite’ now, its the law of the jungle, baby.

You can call names all you want, you’re just paying tribute to Alinsky when you ignore the facts and deny civil political discourse.

I don’t see how your argument is all that different from the Gore 2000 argument. The system can and should probably be tweaked but the rules exist. They should be followed.

Ron Paul supporters utilized grassroots activism, the same kind championed here, and parlayed it into getting a loud voice.

To say that they’re unrepresentative is not exactly true in that all candidates had the same access. If Romney cared to win these delegates, he should have ran a campaign for them. As is, those who show up on election day call the shots.

To say that the Paulistinians are acting like thugs or brownshirts is flat out wrong. To call them leftists is just not true either.

The Senate is irrelevant. The Executive Order written at the behest of the corporatists who are pushing Romney, is all that is needed to continue down the path of national carbon tax, obama care and North American integration.

Romney is the Al Gore of the republican party and has a demonstrated track record for implementing a carbon tax using executive order in his 2004 ‘climate protection plan’ for the state of Massachusetts.

No one is any less a Paul supporter than I.

But this is beyond outrageous.

The rigged game is now being enforced via police power.
