In the desert within 35 miles of one of the nation's largest cities and about 70 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, Arizona authorities found a car ablaze with five bodies burned beyond recognition inside. The location of the smoldering car in a known smuggling corridor and the nature of the crime itself have Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu saying that he's all but certain a violent cartel is responsible. The area known as the Vekol Valley where the bodies were found has been the scene of shootouts among smuggling groups fighting over loads of drugs or illegal immigrants, high-speed pursuits and major drug seizures. The area is so heavily trafficked that at one point the Bureau of Land Management posted signs warning the public that "may encounter armed criminals and smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed."

oh c’mon. THe border is safer than it ever has been. What are you gonna do?
The government says to all....just let them pass on by at 100 mph...We can’t do anything about it.
I sure hope they were all cartel and not some poor guy who made a wrong turn...
I didn't realize the "three hour cruise" involved drug running. But it does kind of make sense.
I have a hard time blaming the BP for not chasing them down. Darn few of their vehicles are suitable for high speed pursuits. Most are SUVs equipped for operations in a desert environment. I seriously doubt that they would reach a speed of 100 mph, much less be able to catch even an Explorer on the Interstate.
A double 50 foot high fence at the border would put a serious dent in this B.S.
So instead of combating the cartels... the government warns Americans to flee from them instead.
just the professor makin meth in the desert.
Just remember, big-sis assures us that the US/Mexican border is more secure than ever in history.
If we just ignore the violence, the kidnappings, etc, it’s like they never happened. Life it good.
That cruise boat must have been going like a B out of H when it hit the beach to wind up in the Sonoran Desert. The ride, as the boat bounced over those mountain passes must have been thrilling to say the least.
