In 2008 they had a cakewalk, I think, when you get right down to it, .....true

and they don't have a cakewalk this time, is my point. ...Also true

I don't think these people are the best and brightest campaigners .......hmmmmm. Might need to disagree here. Granted that the Dems could have run a Cigar Store Indian vs McCain, and reasonably expected a victory. However, they did a number of things very, very right (Electronic Media, for one. Fundraising - legal AND illegal - for another) and Republicans would do well to pay attention.

So - overall good analysis by Rush. However, he'd do well to not get cocky.

I think we have to be very careful. A candidate for whom many people will vote even if he tells them he is going to destroy their livelihood (coal industry) coupled with a weak candidate is a recipe for 1998.

I appreciate Rush’s viewpoint, but I won’t feel any encouragement until the current occupant of the White House is packing to leave for good.

Referring to the Dems/Left as a monolith as our spokestypes are wont to do is a mistake. The left is comprised of cults rigidly segregated, and they have to be since they are volataile mix of sociopaths.

No argument except for this...
...and that was the end of Ryan. They sent in Alan Keyes.
"They" didn't send in Keyes. "They" didn't want him nor did "they" support him.

A good breakdown...
@What Ever Happened to the Republican Party in Illinois?
But Keyes was not their first choice.
Snip...More than a handful of Republicans turned down offers to jump into the senate race.

In the end, basically, Keyes volunteered to run since nobody else would run.

Snip...The Illinois Republican Party says they have raised more money under Judy Baar Topinka's lead than ever before. So why couldn't they lend a hand to a potential candidate?

"Money was the biggest problem for those experienced elected officials who turned the job down," explains Sen. Rauschenberger. "It is impossible to raise the kind of money needed to get the race going. The U.S. Senate Campaign Committee made a decision that it was in their best interest to invest in Louisiana, Georgia and South Carolina and not to invest in Illinois. And I don't blame them. They're just doing their job. They want to put their money in the states that are going to give them the best chance to win a Senate seat. Their job is not to bail out the party in Illinois. And I think they were irritated that the first reaction of the Illinois leadership was to submarine their own candidate."

So "they" were irritated that Ryan got thrown out so "they" submarine Keyes as well by cutting off the money out of nothing more than spite and look where that got us.

Smooth move, Ex-lax!

Rush wasn't wrong, he just didn't tell "the rest of the story".

Re: “The Incompetent Obama Campaign”

Obama - and his campaign - were also incompetent in 2008.

I will concede that Obama has above average intelligence, above average speaking skills, and above average political discipline.

But that's it.

Obama beat Hillary because the MSM crushed the Clinton's after some gaffes in South Carolina.

Go back and look at the Clinton's faces, and body language, and interviews after that MSM onslaught began.

That's the treatment the MSM gives Conservatives EVERY day.

But the Clinton's still don't understand what hit them, or why the MSM turned on them.

In the general election Obama faced John McCain - without a doubt the most pitiful and most incompetent Republican nominee in my lifetime.

In September and October 2008 the economy and the banking system - with a giant helping hand from the MSM - appeared to be at the point of collapse.

In 2008, the incumbent Republican president had the lowest approval rating in Gallup Poll history - and this was AFTER Bush had already demoralized Conservatives with his Immigration Amnesty, his Harriet Miers Supreme Court nomination, and his huge deficits.

Obama won because he CLAIMED he was Black - which was astoundingly racist and gender biased since his mother was white.

Obama won because he claimed the “White Guilt” vote.

And Obama won because the MSM instantly recognized he was an ardent European Socialist and gave him their unconditional support.

Axelrod said, "I think it would be an insult to the Hispanic community to choose Senator Rubio if the thinks that that is somehow -- if Governor Romney thinks that's sort of a get-out-of-jail-free card for all of the things and the positions that he's taken."
