But I wonder why no one has posted this earlier. Too bold? Too specific?
Later - for no particular reason - Dobson confidentially told Obama that Fred Thompson wasn’t a Christian.
Put my signature next to Dr. James Dobson, I stand too with him.
I too cheer Dobson...
Do you or any other FREEPers follow Moody Radio and SRN News? I know they’re from Obama’s hometown of Chicago, but sometimes they seem awfully friendly to him.
it’s nice that conservatives in the TEA party are finally getting some support from Catholic and Evangelical leaders on stopping Obamacare (of course, as individuals conservative Christians have been working against it from the beginning).
you’d think these “leaders” would have been out in front against medical slavery from the beginning. oh well, it’s nice to finally have some institutional allies against Obama and his cronies of all stripes.
LOL....please explain for someone who doesn’t understand.
Why was he not involved in the primary? He SHOULD have been on TV daily praising the incredibly great Santorum who if our nominee would be winning in the polls by triple digets. What a shame....Now we are stuck with an awful horrible weak candidate who will result in a very close squeeker election where either one may win.
“Dobson confidentially told Obama that Fred Thompson wasnt a Christian.”
Two questions:
1. What’s that got to do with this recent stand by Dobson?
2. “Confidentially”? It must not have been too confidential—how did you find out?
I'm up for that.
Dobson will like Romneycare a lot more. I hope Romney takes the abortion provisions out of his system.
Why is Dobson talking to BHO about Fred Thompson?
Little-known fact:
"Pistol" Pete Maravich died in Dr. Dobson's arms on a basketball court - (church pick-up game).
Yeah, well it’s good to see the Catholics finally on the right side of a political issue. They are fighting a demon of their own creation. For decades the Catholic Church has been in the forefront of the “social justice”/”economic justice” movement begun by the Marxists as a front for imposing their economic views. Now their steadfast support of those liberal unGodly principles is coming back to bite them.
“First they came for the Catholics, but I wasn’t Catholic....”
Way to go, Dr. Dobson.
Dr. Dobson is quite a man of character.. He wrote one of the best books for everyday Christian living.. “When God Doesn’t Make Sense”.
BUMP
Why call him “Mr. President?” He’s an impostor.
Enough with this charade.
I loved “Pistol” Pete Maravich. Dr. Dobson is not perfect-—as with anyone-—but he has done some wonderful things and written some rational, common sense books.
He is right in this regard. There is a stand that America must make NOW if they have any chance of being a free nation in the future.
He has fought the evil public school indoctrination also...saw it years before I did. He was absolutely right. Public schools are evil also with their BF Skinner/ Marxists/moral relativistic curricula. Get your kids and grandkids out-—they can not fight the indoctrination embedded into the curricula.
“Dobson confidentially told Obama that Fred Thompson wasnt a Christian.”
I don’t know if Thompson is a Christian or not, but I know for damn sure he wasn’t a candidate.
You lie.
Dr Dobson has been number one in the fight against abortion. I was a counselor at a Crisis Pregnancy Center for a few years. It is Dodson's Focus on the Family that supplies all the teaching, research and other essentials to help stop abortions. They have conferences yearly for all the CPC’s accross the nation at no charge. They have done more to stop abortions than any other organization and all free of charge.
But Dobson vowed to take a stand against Obamas wicked surcharge, come what may:
I want to be very careful regarding what I am about to write now. It will not be said flippantly or with malice, but it will reflect the passion of my heart.
I believe in the rule of law, and it has been my practice since I was in college to respect and honor those in authority over us. It is my desire to do so now. However, this assault on the sanctity of human life takes me where I cannot go. I WILL NOT pay the surcharge for abortion services. The amount of the surcharge is irrelevant. To pay one cent for the killing of babies is egregious to me, and I will do all I can to correct a government that lies to me about its intentions and then tries to coerce my acquiescence with extortion. It would be a violation of my most deeply held convictions to disobey what I consider to be the principles in Scripture. The Creator will not hold us guiltless if we turn a deaf ear to the cries of His innocent babies. So come and get me if you must, Mr. President. I will not bow before your wicked regulation.
He was out front. He endorsed Santorum and was at his Colorado visit. It was on the news. CNN/MSNBC other lefties used him to smear Santorum because they hate him. Try goggling Dobson and you will find some of the most hateful websites. The left has been lying about him for years. The media, even fox (so romney would win) would not cover him much. Dr Dobson has been through hell because of the left. He really deserves our respect.
LOL....please explain for someone who doesnt understand.
*****
For those too dense to remember, Dr. James Dobson intentionally sabotaged Fred Thompson's 2008 presidential campaign by leaking a "confidential" email that he didn't think Fred Thompson was a Christian. And then denied that he had done so. At the time, Thompson was leading in most GOP polls.
Several of the GOP candidates had already met with Dobson to share their views (and kiss Dobson's ring), but Thompson had not. Dobson disliked Thompson's views on Federalism and Thompson's opinion that a Right to Life amendment was not likely to pass in Congress.
Mike Huckabee used this fissure to spring up as a contender and the politically naive portion of Evangelicals fell in line behind Tax Hike Mike Huckabee. Thompson's campaign never recovered from the dustup and conservatives were left without a candidate that could address the three facets of conservatism (social, fiscal and defense).
Many conservatives - including this one - blame Dobson for unintentionally sticking the GOP with McCain in 2008. It could even be argued that Dobson's actions in 2008 helped stick the GOP with Romney in 2012.
How's that for an explanation?
Stick to religious outreach, Dr. Dobson. You're a political moron!
What a Christian remark
It's not only James Dobson who has had problems with the perfect being the enemy of the good (or at least of the barely tolerable).
Can you enlighten us with an actual source that details the events or should we rely merely on your fabulous ability to remember things?
And hear I thought Thompson failed because he wasn’t actually campaign. IE He never seemed like he really want to be president.
I, too, was livid. Dobson's actions were highly detrimental and naive; and once McCain got the nom, there was no hope. McC still has Stockholm syndrome, in my opinion; he cared more about sparing the Impostor's feeeeelings than the fate of the nation.
Good for him!
Search FR on Fred Thompson & Dobson. I've already wasted more of my time and thought on this subject than any Dobson thread deserves.
Thank you for the explanation. I guess I’m one of those “too dense to remember,” since I didn’t know any of that history!
But, even at that, I still appreciate Dobson’s current stand. There’s always a time for redemption. Maybe he’s making atonement for past errors.
And I appreciate his stand even more in the light of the remarkable silence on the part of the evangelicals on this issue with Obamacare. Only the Catholics seem to be making a stir about it.
Thanks. I appreciate your efforts to enlighten us.
It’s funny that the Catholic leaders supported the Healthcare bill.....
Dobson’s right. Thompson is a Mormon like romney. I think we might has mormons here who hate Dobson for announcing to the world that Thompson is mormon. This is from Wordpress
Well, James Dobson Is Right, Fred Thompson Is NOT A Christian!

Thompsons church believes in the baptismal regeneration heresy. So, Dobson was right because that equates to salvation by works, and makes them a pseudo Christian cult. Now you have a lot of sanctimonious folk who are protesting against Dobson for deciding who is a Christian and who isnt, well let me tell you folks, you all are going to bust hell wide open if you keep doing this mess, because it isnt US who says that Thompson isnt a Christian, and it isnt US who says that Mormon Mitt Romney isnt a Christian, but it is the BIBLE, ok? You you generation of vipers, is it the Bible that you have a problem with, or us for believing in it? Thanks to Independent Conservative for setting me straight on this one. Another great thing about Dobson is that I have not seen him active in this Christian Zionists who do not proselytize Jews nonsense.
But make no mistake: though Dobson is CORRECT in opposing false Christians like Thompson and Romney, he is still sullied by his overall political activities, including his promoting Gingrich. And it is amazing how so many of the social conservatives are throwing their hats in the ring behind either Mormom Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson, KNOWING that their beliefs are not Christian. It just shows that these people are only after seeking a winner who will keep the money and power coming, and not after standing for God and the Bible. Which is why I still say that you are better off turning away from all of these folks and going after God.
Seems to me, most of the "fire in the belly" disparagement of Thompson was right here on FR. Fact is, he was the only Republican to turn in a memorable debate performance.
If memory serves, Dobson's comment "leaked" in early October, 2007. Up until that time, Thompson was polling steadily above McCain and the rest - except, I think, Giuliani. Rudy still held the lead, but Fred was doing okay. Then it all changed, with Thompson's supporters bleeding away to join the McCain and Huckabee ranks.
If you can find some other specific factor that was working against Thompson in that time frame (and there may well be, like when the dumbasses at GOA tried to represent Fred's voting record as "anti-gun"), fire away. Until then, I'll hang the blame for that one around Dobson's neck.
Why would you slander Dobson?
Some of those past errors are quite recent. After all, Dobson attacked Callista Gingrich not long ago (and implicitly, Newt). If socialized medicine and all its ugly trappings are repugnant to this fellow, you'd think he'd avoid helping Romney - even indirectly.
Things that make you go "Hmmm...".
Good for him, but haven’t our tax $ been going to pay for abortions for decades now? I think technically that doesn’t happen (Hyde Amendment?) but it goes to PP etc. & we all know what it ends up being used for. Not to mention pro-choice public school/university indoctrination etc. One of the best things about going Galt must be knowing you are no longer contributing to the genocide.
That is not true. Show your proof, or retract your post.
Lord bless you for what you’ve accomplished and your righteous courage. i too believe that obeying the “lawfully” constituted authorities does not require denying God or participation in sin.
when the time comes, we will all have to do, what we have to do. No matter the outcome, He will not forsake us.
very. it’s also “funny” that big pharma, wall street, big health insurance companies, big elderly associations like AARP, medical associations, nurses and even doctors—all who were bound to be enslaved—signed on with Obama.
for me, it shows that there is no space between the politicians and their crony capitalist partners in organized churchs, academia and big business.
I was a Thompson supporter, never heard the Dobson leak.
Yes, his debate performance where great.
Personally he just always seemed tired.
Thompson is a mormon? I never knew that.
Well....since Dobson is no longer head of Focus on the Family, I doubt he’ll have to pay any high price.
“And hear I thought Thompson failed because he wasnt actually campaign. IE He never seemed like he really want to be president.”
Nah. His campaign failed because I sent money to him.
This time around, I made a better decision. I sent money to Hermain Cain.
No this does not state that Thompson is a Mormon. It appears to pan Thompson for the controversial belief that regeneration happens in ceremonial baptism, an idea that evangelicals and Protestants usually don’t endorse (as being biblically unfounded). Is this Thompson’s worst deviation from Christian orthodoxy?
Teach them to suck up to Obama.
