We will try. We just need some sort of consensus.

See Post #4. It looks like Saturday Lunch is a also a possibility until the General Session starts at 1PM.

In a normal year (this one was anything but because of redistricting court fights) all you need do is vote in the republican primary and then show back up after the polls close for your precinct convention, get yourself elected as a delegate to your county or senatorial district convention, attend that and get yourself elected as a delegate to the state convention where, if you want, you can try to get yourself elected as a delegate to the national convention.

Simple as that!

I now reside in the Southwest quadrant of Fort Worth.

About 15 minutes from downtown.

Texas hospitality is extended.

” By the way, most of the counties had no Precinct conventions because of the late primary.”

Ah, that explains it. Kind of stunning that knowing the usual process counted for nothing if you missed the small print. I’m blaming no one but myself, just saying.

So how were COUNTY delegates selected? The county convention is usually fairly closed but for delegates already first selected at the precinct level.

Without the precinct electing delegates, who composed the county convention I wonder?

BTW, congratulations to all the delegates, sincerely, especially those who will reject the socialist at the top of our GOPE ticket and all the RINOS who helped put him there, with their big cash, pals & connections, quiet support, and utter rejection of EVERYONE of the conservative candidates who were kept soundly and broke and some openly mocked. :)

Guess it will be a Romney coronation in Texas. Yuk. Wouldn’t spend a dime to enable that outcome.

I am rooting for all cogs to be thrown into the Establishment wheel and that of their candidate to get this stopped. This will get worse in the future if we prop up Romney. The Party is dead to me.

Here you go!! My hubby’s a delegate from Smith Co. Wish
I were going, but have 2 wedding jobs this weekend...
What are the expected “fights” this year at the convention? What do you think of the State chair?

I called the County Chairman months ahead of the primary & county convention. The process was “fluid” because of the election delays over re-districting. We had a series of email and phone exchanges. He knew this one had stirred the fire in my belly because of the tactics that GOPe were using.

I live in a county where there are few Republicans, has always been so since it was settled. (is changing)

I registered Republican out of college and voted for Richard Nixon with my first ballot for president. (voting age then was 21 and colleges did not like students voting & did not make it easy)

Per the FAQ at the link....

May others attend even if they are not delegates or alternates?

Yes, each delegate and alternate has the option to secure a guest pass. Guests may watch all convention activities as well as go to dinners and meetings held by numerous groups, candidates, and officeholders in conjunction with the convention.

From the FAQ at the main link:

All delegates and alternates are elected at county or senatorial district conventions that were held on either April 14 or April 21, 2012. At each local convention, a Nominations Committee recommended a slate of names to bring before the full convention for consideration.

Not sure about those details. I have been registered for weeks. Been a number of years since I was at the TX Convention.

There is a method to have guests, but not sure if that option exists at the registration desk.

How busy is Joe T's on a Saturday for lunch?

With a 1:00 General Session start, we could shoot for 11:00 or 11:15.

I’m here for the Platform Committee for SD 25 (Soon to be the Senate District held by Donna Campbell.)

From what I understand, I’m a captive and have given up all freedom of movement until Friday night. So y’all stop by and try to say hi!

Also, the Texas Alliance for Life will hold a reception on Thursday night at 5 PM -— in the Sundance area on 3rd Floor.

Lacking any other input, it looks like we will try to meet at Joe T. Garcia's Mexican Restaurant on Saturday about 11:15AM.

There appears to be 2 locations about equidistance, but I am guessing that the original location(opened in 1935) was likely near the stockyards:
2212 N Main St, Fort Worth, TX 76164

This is apparently CASH ONLY, but doesn't look too expensive($7-16).

I will be traveling in Thursday Morning and have limited internet access, so maybe one of you more connected folks can help keep this updated. If anyone has a DFW list, they might ping area FReepers to join us.

It might also be nice if someone could gather some cell phone numbers in case something changes.
