Whatever Walker's Fate, Obama Leads Romney in Wisconsin
ABC News ^ | 60/5/12 | Gary Langer

Whatever Scott Walker's fate, Barack Obama may drag some bragging rights out of the Wisconsin governor's recall election: Voters in preliminary exit poll results today say they favor Obama over Mitt Romney in November's presidential election by a slight 6-point margin (51-45 percent).

These results are preliminary so it remains to be seen if that result will hold in final exit poll results later tonight. If so, it might provide Obama forces with pushback should Walker, the incumbent Republican, prevail in the recall election against Democratic candidate Tom Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee.

Barrett lost to Walker when the two faced off in 2010. One possible boost for Barrett this year comes from union voters: Nearly a third of voters in preliminary exit poll results say they're from union households, up from 26 percent two years ago. And slightly more than half say they have a favorable impression of public employee unions; restrictions on such unions that were backed by Walker led to the recall.

But voters in these preliminary results divide almost exactly evenly on Walker's handling of those unions, with high levels of strong sentiment on both sides.

The division between Democrats and Republicans is much like it was in 2010, with both their numbers slightly down, and an apparent increase in turnout by independents in these preliminary results. Partisan divisions are very similar to their levels two years ago - but with an apparent rise in opposition to the Tea Party political movement, expresed by 31 percent in 2010, vs. 36 percent in these preliminary resuts.

Another result, at the same time, holds some promise for Walker: Wisconsin voters are more apt to say government "is doing too many things better left to businesses and individuals" than to

You knew this was coming. Walker wins, Dems/Unions lose - but of course Obama is the real winner.

The media is so corrupt.

A key here is that exit polls do not include absentee votes. Eleven percent of the vote is estimated to be absentee.

“Actually, this is good news. It shows there are enough Walker voters that are willing to let 0bama win another term out of spite towards Romney. That’s principle! You vote for the conservative or you vote for the guy who will make America bleed enough to make them vote conservative four years later. “

Unfortunately they are still waiting for that conservative in Venezuela.

Enough with this idiotic premise. None of us has any idea what this country will look like a month from now, much less four years from now. For all we know, a President Obama doesn't survive his second term, and a President Biden gets a sympathy re-election.

You play to win the game.

Walker offered reform to union benefits that are breaking the State’s back.

What is Romney offering beyond Romneycare and wealth redistribution through “taxing the rich” since he aced the nomination? That is Obama’s agenda. Can’t wait ‘til next week when Myth comes out for Obama’s global warming carbon agenda. Myth is very heady.

By November, unionized campaigners (wildcats / renegades) will make the case that Zero's demolition of the US economy resulted in voter backlash against the DNC's sweetheart unions in the public sector.

Minutes after the election was called, Ed's Schultz's lead-in to "The Ed Show" is... "Tonight the real winner in the Wisconsin recall election is: President Obama!"

I sh-t you not.

The better question is, why is VA a swing state? Virginia, shouldn’t go blue, when was the last time (before 2008)that state went blue? Obviously, any candidate would spend money in a swing state.

Elections trump polls.

Walker won today.

Romney will win in November.

As I said elsewhere, all we need to do is compare the Walker 4-point margin in this exit poll to his final margin to know how much the exit poll was skewed left. Based on what I’m seeing from the counties that have most or all precincts in, Walker is running ahead of Prosser by 8-15 points. Thus the 4-point exit poll margin is skewed by 4-11 points. Which means the Obama exit poll “lead” is meaningless.

This exit poll may be off a little - it said Walker by 4 and right now with 67% counted he is leading 58 to 42...bad polling people - pay more or forget the old system.

Exit polls also showed a tie in the recall election, too. Somebody got fooled.
