While I believe Mr. Piereson arcurately and succinctly laid out the problem, I do not share his optimism about the outcome.

We are headed for a fall, a far bigger fall than any in our history. What will rise from the ashes?

Not anything resembling our previous 240 years. Probably a dictatorship of some kind.

Yes, we are headed for a big fall. The difference between this period and the previous three mentioned is that government at all levels has become dominant in all aspects of our lives -- in power and scope. Such power will not be easily relinquished.

In the three previous "surrogates of revolution" the Federal government did not have the overreaching power it now holds.

The next decade will be interesting indeed. Very trying times lie ahead.
