Democrats appeared to have assumed control of the state Senate with results posted early Wednesday showing former Sen. John Lehman (D-Racine) defeating incumbent Van Wanggaard in a tight race.

I would bet this was their intent all along. Walker would’ve been icing on the cake. What part of WI does Lehman represent? Is it one of those border areas that was suspected of busing in voters from Chicago and Detroit?
it’s really rather irrelevant as the state senate is out of session between now and November anyways. Currently, it appears that the Republicans will gain between 2-5 seats in the state senate in that election so it is essentially a meaningless victory for the dims...their specialty...
I say beat um at their own game. If it’s close enough for a recount..
They can’t do anything. The senate is out of session for the Summer and cannot convene unless the House side convenes. Being controlled by the GOP, the House will not reconvene until September. No legislation will be brought up prior to the election. It’s a pyrhic victory for the dems because the GOP will win back the Senate then.
yes, the district covers Racine. It is between Chicago and Milwaukee right on the freeway...
This would be a good opportunity for WI repubs to hone their voter fraud investigation skills. They should fight this one!
I was watching FOX6now.com online coverage of that race. The analyst was wondering why that district was so slow in reporting, seemingly stuck at 20-something percent.
He said, “something strange going on here” My comment to that was “They’re busy stealing that election.”
The Wisconsin State Senate isn’t scheduled to be in session until next January.
The Republicans are said to be likely to gain a couple seats in November. So it is a lot of nothing.
The WI legislature isn’t scheduled to convene until Jan 2013 and there is another election in Nov. to determine the 2013 legislature makeup.
Lehman got the “flatlander” vote.
(If you live South of the cheddar curtain you are a flatlander.)
All I can say is: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. Racine. Just north of the border with IL. Formerly (?) big union area. Formerly home of a Chrysler plant — now closed.
I read somewhere that if the margin is less than 2%, a state funded recount is triggered.
Anyone have information on this?
On top of that, it is my understanding that the seat this democrat "won" is redistricted into a majority Republican district for the November election (the recall took place under the old boundaries). So essentially the dems spent money to elect a Senator that will never be seated because the Senate is not in session until next year and will be redistricted out of office in five months. If they want to call that a victory, more power to them, but the liberal media doesn't even seem to be pushing that line.
Thanks for the “insight”, and the facts about what it means......temporarily. Cool.
Redrawn legislative maps also apply in Nov. so dems will have a worse night than last. Hats off to Wisconsin for your conservative successes
Where’d that irrelevant T Party go to ? We hold our fire until needed.
So essentially the dems spent money to elect a Senator that will never be seated because the Senate is not in session until next year and will be redistricted out of office in five months.Unfortunately, that's not true. The new district will be stuck with Lehman until Van Wangaard's term expires.
I think it’s rather smart that the Tea Party is working under the radar. If no one is paying attention you get what happened last night. The Tea Party came out of no where and pounded the dims in to the ground.
“Unfortunately, that’s not true. The new district will be stuck with Lehman until Van Wangaard’s term expires.”
They may be stuck with him until November but he will never cast a vote in the senate. Basically he is useless to them.
