PENNSYLVANIA - June 6, 2012 (WPVI) -- Miss Pennsylvania is resigning from her post, just days after the Miss USA Pageant took place.

Sheena Monnin wrote on her Facebook page that she turned in her crown, because the pageant was "fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy."

Monnin later claimed another contestant had seen a list of the top 5 finishers, before the Miss USA show even started.

Monnin claims the other contestant told her the names of the top 5 she spotted on a planning sheet for the telecast

Of course, it's known ahead of time. The camera operators and the guys in the booth have to know who's going to win so they can capture the moment. That said, yes, most televised contests like these are fixed and have been for years.

What do you mean—are you saying she is falsely accusing the contest of being rigged, or that if only they didn’t accept transgenders she’d have kept her mouth shut about it anyway?

“”fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy.” “

Says a woman with breast implants. Pot meet kettle.

She should've called to place a bet naming the top 5 finishers before the show started.

It's the Vegas way...

"I have decided to resign my position as Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012," wrote Monnin. "Effective immediately I have voluntarily, completely, and utterly removed myself from the Miss Universe Organization. In good conscience I can no longer be affiliated in any way with an organization I consider to be fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy. I do not support this system in any way. In my heart I believe in honesty, fair play, a fair opportunity, and high moral integrity, none of which in my opinion are part of this pageant system any longer. Thank you all for your support and understanding as I walk a road I never dreamed I'd need to walk, as I take a stand I never dreamed I'd need to take. After 10 years of competing in a pageant system I once believed in, I now completely and irrevocably separate myself in every way and on every level from the Miss Universe Organization. I remove my support completely and have turned in the title of Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012."

Maybe she saw a contestant with “extra equipment” while in the dressing room.

My thought on first picture was to wonder if she ever had a uni-brow.

Those are some seriously defined eyebrows.

I would be happy as a hummingbird could be with eyebrows so carefully tended and defined.

My friend and I tuned in t the contest for the semi-finals and eventual crowning...and Miss Pa. is right. It was a cheap production, hjosted by inane amateurs...adn the contestants had to answer ridiculous questions...and some of the answers were just plain dumb. I’ liked Miss RI, she did the best with the question she got...and (I believe) had to give a polticially correct response to win...but I also very like Miss Maryland (the runner-up) very very much.

It’s a shame this contest was so tawdry..these women deserved better.

I don’t pay much attention to these pageants but being from Pennsylvania, your post caught my eye.

Sheena Monnin’s hometown is about 40 miles north of me up interstae 79. She has an interesting bio:

Biography: Sheena Monnin was born February 20th, 1985, which means that she just turned 27 years old this year. Yes, she is on the senior citizen side of 20 for a beauty contestant which shows you that she has true beauty that will last her entire lifetime. She is from Cranberry Township in the great state of PA, as you might have guessed.

Sheena is a smarty pants as you can see in the video below in which she discusses classical literature. She is well versed in literature and public speaking etiquette. She joined the toastmasters group and steadily worked her way through the program to become an expert in self-presentation. You won’t find her saying uh and umm when responding to questions, which makes her allegation sound all that more credible. One of her favorite quotes is by musical conductor Leonard Bernstein: “To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan, and not quite enough time.”

Miss Monnin has a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix in Pennsylvania, which is a commuter school normally known for business disciplines. She plans to obtain a PhD in theology. Holy cow, you go girl! She is just as comfortable in a bikini swimsuit as she is quoting scripture or the giants of literature and western culture.

She uses her public speaking skill to help children throughout the eastern seaboard as you can see here. She has been a teacher, writer and mentor to young people for many years after graduating from the American School of Protocol in 2003. Sheena is deeply religious and a self-described conservative politically. That will make her a hero or goat for cable news channels as they get their arms around this story.

I think the pageant officials (both national ones I bet) are doing damage control because of the fixing accusation. I notice a lot of sites shut down their comments—probably so people like me who actually had first hand experience with fixing can’t say so.

I was a college music major (not a pageant bimbo) and ran for my sorority, then once I won the local, competed in the Miss Maine pageant.

Based on my brief experience, I would say they are fixed. The night before the live pageant, national pageant officials brought several of us to their hotel room “to meet us” and asked us to try our gowns on for them. They proceeded to push the foot of one girl’s heel through her gown and said “oh my, you’ll have to have a new gown” (I can’t believe they had the gall to do it in front of us). so they OPENED the Maine Mall at night and got her a new gown. We noticed news coverage was always slanted to the Jaycees’ contestants (that is who sponsored the pageant.) The night of the pageant, after the judges had returned the results to pageant officials, several contestants said they saw my hostess crying, while saying they had “switched the cards” and changed the pageant results. The Jaycee girls won and a year later, the executive director contacted me and apologized for what he did.

If I had a daughter, I doubt I would want her to participate. I did it for the scholarship and performance opportunity but had no idea they would allow us to spend all that money only to give the title to their girls regardless and you can be sure the national officials are in on it because they played an active role behind the scenes.
