Good morning sleepy heads! Hope you got a good nights sleep. Make sure you order a double at Starbucks this morning so you are ready for your day - you've got a lot of explaining to do.
Let's talk about this whole recall thing - you know, that groundswell of the grassroots? I'm sure you're confused about the whole thing, but let me give you a hand with this. Let's talk about that difference in the campaign funds spent. Whether it is the sobbing activist on CNN crying that "Democracy is OVER!" or the official press release from the Obama Campaign, all you guys are talking about is being "outspent $34 million to $4 million".
Okay. Dry your eyes and I'll explain to you why you lost. First, the unions are the ones who picked this fight, not Scott Walker. He didn't come knocking on the door of the Wisconsin Democrat Party asking to be recalled. Progressive activists started this. The Unions started this. The Wisconsin Democrats started this. Here's a clue, Wisconsin Democrats - before you start a fight, make sure you've got the resources to win. Since YOU are the ones who picked the fight, you aren't really in a position to complain about how much ammunition Scott Walker bring with him.
Secondly, maybe you might want to reconsider your campaign strategy. You got 1.1 million signatures to recall Scott Walker, yet your vote total on election night was only 1,158,337 voters? You spent all that money, energy, time and effort and persuaded exactly 58,337 people statewide? Really? You need to call Don Draper and design a new campaign. On second thought, don't do that - he won't give you the time of day because you don't know what the hell you're doing.
Finally, quit crying about President Obama not coming to Wisconsin. He knew it was going to be a train wreck. Axlerod knew it was goin to be a train wreck. Barrett knew it was going to be a train wreck. It appears that YOU were the only one who didn't realize that, but hey, Obama is really looking forward to your help in November! He's counting on you to double up on all of that energy. And emotion. And money. I'm sure you'll feel like going that extra mile (oops, sorry about the Biblical reference) to get him elected so he can continue to ignore you when you need him.
You might want to make that Starbucks a triple.
Dear Wisconsin liberals:
[insert picture of a bare backside here]
Interesting point about the recall signatures compared to the final vote count.
Perfect. Thank you!
I’m so happy that the people of Wisconsin let their wishes be known. The results kinda gave me Happy Feet for a while this morning. Thanks, Wisconsin!!
It appears that they were only able to bus in 58,000 out-of-staters.
I believe this is the level of quality editorial that it should be in the Freeper Editorial section. That is the area we congregate original Free Republic material. With your permission, I’ll put it there.
agree!!
Well done, TN2000!
I LOL'd at this statement, as a "Mad Men" fan.
I would be honored. Thank you.
Regular ol folks are sick and tired of paying for your benefits.
Time to stop all the whining and come back to reality.
Oh, by the way.....see ya in November.
Signed,
Tea Party Patriot.
"Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kinda cool." --Clinton presidential aide Paul Begala, July 1998
Public Service doesn't mean you're to be serviced by the public for life
President Kennedys Executive Order 10998, allowing Federal unions, is what opened the door for public sector unions at the state and local level, which is leading to bankruptcy from bloated public sector salaries, benefits, and retirement plans. Businesses that offered plans like many governments have would go bankrupt. Govt entities will, too, eventually, but it will be much more painful.
This is why unions should again be outlawed for public employees.
When collective bargaining was brought into American schools in the 1960s, it was a revenue stream and power base for Big Labor. Suddenly, union bosses became more interested in building political muscle than educating children.
At that point the battle between unions and school boards became more focused on salary, benefits, pensions and working conditions for adults, and less about students.
Kids are only pawns in the self-serving union game.
What is the purpose of teacher unions? To work for children? Establish new and better requirements? Push their members to better serve parents and children?
"Despite what some among us would like to believe, it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. It is not because we care about children. And it is not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power. And we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year because they believe that we are the unions that can most effectively represent them, the unions that can protect their rights and advance their interests as education employees" ...National Education Association's just-retired General Counsel Bob Chanin. (The NEA is the County and State Association's parent body).
NEA General Counsel Bob Chanin Says Farewell:
As legendary New York teachers union leader Albert Shanker said, "When school children start paying union dues, that's when I'll start representing the interests of school children."
All government unions should be banned. The idea that government workers need protection from guess who?? THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, is ridiculous. remember, teachers are government employees. Ban government unions.
.
Very well done. Thank you.
Thank you, nice job. I saw the guy on CNN crying. That was GREAT!
So do I understand correctly that the unions only spent $4 million on a recall THEY initiated? I have a hard time believing that.
"...you've got a lot of explaining to do."
The sweet thing about beating the Democrats by more than their margin-of-cheating is they can’t shriek “the election was stolen” without people laughing in their faces.
Mine is @here.
(chuckle)
When you sign a petition you must use your name. As a union member you want to go on record as supporting the union position lest the union look unfavorably on you and act accordingly toward you. In the voting booth the union isn’t going to know how you actually vote. When you have voted for Walker you come out of the voting station and tell the pollster you voted against that unionbustinggrannyhatingetcetc Walker because you know that your face is being recorded by someone with a cellphone camera and if you say you voted for walker it will get back to your union and you will pay an unpleasant price.
Exceptionally well written piece! Very nicely done.
Exactly - another case of bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Done. Welcome to the big leagues. Keep hittin’ them out of the park. :)
Didn’t these bozos go parading around with “This is what democracy looks like” posters when that filth was invading the capital building?
someone there needs to hold up a fews of those pups - there have to be a bunch of them laying around!
Like you, I doubt this is an accurate figure. However, if that's the number they want to use, I'll throw it right back at them. They can't have it both ways - either they raised a pitiful amount or they are lying.
He should be crying "Bolshecrats are OVER."
Heh. I, along with 4 others, was in Dixon, IL for a meeting last night. On the way back (Eastbound on I-88), one of us checked for vote updates on his phone and said CNN had it too close to call. This was around 8:45 pm Central. We talked about it and I suggested looking for tour buses headed Westbound for Iowa. They'd probably contain people returning home from voting in Wisconsin.
Got home a little after 9, and Fox had already called it for Walker with 34% tallied. Obviously, CNN and NBC/MSNBC just couldn't face the music, and deceived their viewers until they couldn't hide it any longer...
I certainly hope so. Democracy is a very bad thing. The founding fathers did not want democracy, they wanted, and got, a representative republic. Democracy is nothing more than mob rule in a nice suit. WHOEVER THIS PERSON WAS, I HOPE THEY ARE RIGHT!...............
I guess Mickey, Minnie, Donald duck, Goofey, and Bart Simpson didn’t vote even after signing the recall petition.
Loved all of the points you mentioned!
My 79 year old, democrat, mom even voted for Walker.
YAY Mom!! YAY Wisconsin!!
Well, then there's that...
Doesn't matter. If you start a fight, you'd better be sure you have (or have access to) the resources to win. The resources governor Walker mustered to fight them off, at whatever level, is his own business, and they have no one to blame but themselves.
That being said, part of their problem stems from the amount of money the unions had already spent leading up to this recall. Also, the fact that the DNC and the administration refused to get involved. They were on their own. Not a way to win a fight. Just ask Custer...
Yes, it's a good day for singing a song
And you can beat your breast just like you're King Kong
Yes, it's a good day, the libs got the gong
It's a good day from morning to night
Yes, it's a good day for shining your shoes
And it's a good day for losing the blues
The Governor wins and the union goons lose
It's a good day from morning to night
Yep, today's a good day to sing from the hills
And it's a good day for curing your ills
So clap your hands and enjoy last night's thrills
'Cause it a great day from morning to night!
Congratulations to all Freepers....you fought the good fight with your activism and/or communication skills....each of you is an integral part of this victory, absolutely no doubt about it. For the billionth time in my life I'm proud to be a Freeper!
Leni
Thank you for the compliment for our great state of Wisconsin. We are so proud of what we stood up for and so proud of what we accomplished yesterday with the Walker Victory.
As I mentioned in a post a couple of days back..... We are not just a pretty face here in FlyOver country, we can eat cheese and drink beer at the same time!
I say to all the naysayers and the union thugs and the lefties and the whiney teachers. BWAAAAAAAAAAA BWAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAA ROFLMAO, LOL and other assorted bits of laughter.
We did NOT stand down and we turned out the vote. There was excitement and enthusiasm for this election here in WI that I have not seen in my lifetime.
Our terrific Rep. Paul Ryan said on Monday night at a Walker Rally “Tomorrow we save Wisconsin and November we save the USA”.
Gotta love that guy and Gov. Walker and our terrific Sen. Ron Johnson. We’re going to try to give you ANOTHER Conservative Senator come November to replace the retiring Sen. Herb Kohl.
Thanks to our fabulous FReeper family for your support and prayers!
Apparently, these people have a differing view of what democracy looks like.
Apparently they think that democracy consists of mobs taking over and trashing public buildings, and making a nuisance of themselves.
But, when all is said and done, and the voters get to have their say in a free and fair election, that apparently is NOT democracy in action.
Well, just think, that they spent millions on this failed campaign. That’s money that can’t be spent elsewhere.
From one Texan to another, great commentary!!! A couple of additional points to our liberal enemies across this great, free, land as of this morning.
IMHO, there are two groups of voters completely bypassed and looked over by the Obama mainstream Obamabot media. Tea Party voters and conventional, industrial union workers. The Tea Party turnout was powerful and massive and Scott Walker received about 32% of the union vote, mainly industrial union folks, with a smattering of public service union members, teachers, police and firemen fed up with union thugs and dictators like Obama, their undisputed leader, who hid in the closet as all cowards do, and let the union “dirt bags” get crushed after he threw them under the rear wheels of the Obama killing bus. Some leader (not)!!!
These two groups, combined will devastate Obama and the Democrat Party come November, 2012. Obama and his liberal, elite, nutcases have gone over the cliff with their madness for power and control. they will both be sent packing on November 6th, 2012. Media.....follow these groups. They are the true movers & shakers of our nation now!!!
Ditto.
bump
LOL!
One of the Fox analysts said the dims spent $21 million...
Good point! I think they are going to be flushing a lot more of it around the country...
Listening to all the liberal wailing about how Republicans FORCED them spend millons of dollars on this recall has to be my biggest laugh of the day so far.
Typical bully crys after getting their a$$ kicked by picking the wrong fight.
