SANFORD, Fla. - The dean of Harvard law is saying that the special prosecutor in the case of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has threatened to sue the school for comments he made about the case.

In a story Alan Dershowitz published on Newsmax, he said State Attorney Angela Corey called Harvard University, threatening to sue the school because of comments he made on the case.

According to Dershowitz's article, Corey accused him of slander and libel.

Dershowitz has criticized Corey's handling of the Zimmerman case on national television.

She blew it. Now, if by some horrendous miscarriage of justice, Zimm is convicted, Dershowitz will step in on appeal.

libel = written (think library), slander = spoken

Mr. D. has done plenty of both.

BTW his article in Newsmax mentioned earlier is here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2892081/posts

Plenty of writing and speaking, that is, not libeling and slandering!

“I don’t spend much time defending Alan Dershowitz, but this lady might have looked at his track record in court, before antagonizing him”

Not a big fan of Dershowitz either but I would love to see Corey sue him. She might learn the difference between a Harvard Law Professor and a backwoods ambulance chaser. I really think there’s something not right in Corey’s head.

Anybody who takes on Dershowitz has to be either crazy or very very good. I don't think Corey is up to the task. It's going to be fun to watch.

IMHO, anyone who gets in the way of the authorities attempting to throw Zimmerman under the bus are becoming the target themselves. Also IMHO, Angela Corey is just a puppet in this game and I am sure she is taking orders from someone else.

It is LONG past time for the florida bar to investigate corey and the actions of her underlings.

The fact she has to make this EMPTY threat speaks volumes as her lack of character, integrity, and absence of ethics.

Me too. I am also surprised by Dersh’s unwavering support of Israel.

Okay, which was it? It can't be both.

Actually, it can.

Dershowitz said it and a third party or parties heard it. That's the basis for her claim of slander.

It was published and a third party read it. That's the basis for her claim of libel.

Slander and libel are separate torts. You can have either one without the other or both together.

Of course, if she wasn't already a limited purpose public figure on this issue, I believe it's clear she made herself one with her press conference(s). If she thinks she's going to win a defamation lawsuit (defamation being a broader term that includes slander and libel), she'll need to prove 'actual malice' as set out in Times v. Sullivan. Shades of Sandra Fluke.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott and AG Pam Bondi need to immediately remove Corey as Special Prosecutor

I guarantee that, if Scott and Bondi continue this Al Sharpton-appeasement and lynching of George Zimmerman...they will both be primaried out in 2014

This is absolutely embarassing, and illegal, for a prosecutor to attack a noted jurist who has offered criticism on a case. Heck, this is the basis of how our law is adjudicated in this country. If Angela Corey cannot accept that, she needs to be disbarred (I would not be surprised this is going on right at this moment)

More telling....you know Corey and her Tobias Funke assistant have zero case against Zimmerman....Zero.
