Sometimes a small incident says volumes about a large government agency. In this case, it's the Environmental Protection Agency.

Around 1:45 PM on May 23, Ashville, North Carolina resident Larry Keller was in the midst of an international call which he had to cut short in order to answer his front door. He found two armed agents of the EPA who were accompanied by an Ashville Police officer.

According to a May 24 news story in the Ashville Tribune, a weekly newspaper to which I am a contributing columnist, the agents had blocked his and his neighbor's driveways with their cars. They had driven all the way from Raleigh to confront him.

Am I the only one astounded at that?

Don't be, just about every Federal Agency has the power to go packing heat.

“Armed EPA agents? Am I the only one astounded at that?”

Astounding it is; but, it’s preparation for a total police state; and, that’s what the 2nd Amendment is for. As Allen West said, they’re testing us.

Obama enviro-nazis on the prowl intimidating private citizens.

I believe it was W who approved of federal agencies having their own police forces, and it was Nixon who signed the EPA into existence with an executive order.

“Our Gang” kids would have let the air out of their tires. Makes the departure somewhat less that spectacular, and downright awkward. LOL Where are they today?

Fish and Wildlife agents are armed. IRS agents and bank examiners can be and are in many instances.

In addition, every federal alphabet agency has a SWAT team.

Around here a Border Patrol agent was going over 50 mph on a dirt road and almost hit a rancher’s son on a horse. The rancher called the BP to complain and during the conversation said that this had to stop or someone was going to get hurt. The BP decided that that was a terroristic threat.

This needs to be dealt with at the ballot box...They could not do this without the OK of the local sheriff department! Sadly here in SC the good old boy GOP’ers have gotten most of the challengers to incumbents kicked off the ballot.

Warrant? No? Subpoena? No? The name and contact info for your direct supervisor. Now get off of my property.

Someone’s going to get hurt...like the guy’s kid on a horse, for crying out loud. What maroons.

Many local Police Departments use the same intimidation tactics with seatbelts. I am offended any time the government uses it’s taxpayer financed armed thugs to coherce citizens to behave.

>>As Allen West said, they’re testing us<<

Of course they're testing us. TSA groping our elderly, our children and all we can do is stand by in utter disgust and amazement under threat of arrest.

Think about it, why would the TSA search a little boy or an 80yr old lady, a man confined to a wheelchair.

Testing the publics tolerance.

Isn’t interesting that all these non-military and non-police bureaus and departments are all of a sudden coming up with SWAT teams and armed enforcement branches.

They can’t be. The lead in ammunitions is bad for the environment.

It was a PD, not a sheriff’s deputy.
