That is so true ... but many people are so obsessed with that couple of minutes of genital pleasure that they are unable or unwilling to think beyond it.
I ran into a neighbor in the doctor's waiting room yesterday, a woman about my age with several children and stepchildren, from early teenage to adult. She had a young-adult daughter with her, and a month-old baby, so I asked if the baby was a granddaughter. (My baby is my daughter, but everyone in the neighborhood knows I've produced the batch of little kids ;-).
The baby, it turned out, was the daughter of a friend of the teenage girl, a 19-year-old unmarried mom who was so overwhelmed by having a baby that she was leaving it with the other family for days at a time. Then I asked about my neighbor's son, a National Guard member and Iraq War veteran. Well, his girlfriend is pregnant, but many factors (to summarize) indicate that the baby she's expecting is not his. Then one of her stepsons is expecting a baby, but it's not with his wife, but rather with a married coworker. And then there was another one, but before I sorted it out, we were called for our appointment.
I was going through all this for my husband, and he mentioned that a recent "news" item on the Fox website claimed that sex outside marriage (or "a relationship") is only infidelity if there's emotional involvement. If the person just wants to get off sexually, that doesn't count. Of course, if sex is just a physical process like using the toilet, it's meaningless and debasing whether within marriage or outside.
I feel sorry for Maureen and for the audience she's addressing, because we all have the need for truly fulfilling intimate relationship with others ... but they have no idea what they are really seeking or how to find it.
I'd amend it: "The author of this vapid drivel should be embarrassed at attaching their name to it. All I can do is point at [him/her] and laugh, and laugh, and laugh."
Make leftists live up to their own standards. If obesity is a sin for it’s social and economic cost to the collective, so is sexual irresponsibility. Some derive pleasure from the vice of smoking and drinking and others from the vice of sexual sluthood.

Women always become emotionally involved during a sex act. They can deny it when the man dumps them-—but they are lying. It dehumanizes women to deny their own emotions.
Men do not necessarily become emotionally involved because of the design of males. Women’s nature can never be divorced of her emotions. That is why they give birth—and their bodies are designed to nurture. They need to have emotional attachment—because it is related to her survival and that of any child she produces. They are pathological if they divorce themselves from their emotions.
The Laws of Nature are trying to be erased—so that Marx can redesign man and woman in a radical egalitarian way—to make men and women interchangeable and the same emotionally. Denial of science, logic and nature will destroy civil society and have to be totalitarian-—because there will have to be force to make people agree to unnatural human attachments.
Homosexual “marriage” is the forcing of the unnatural as “good” and this totally erases God and God’s Design of man and woman and creates the ugly, irrational artificial construct which denies the humanity that all children should have-—a nurturing biological mother and father—so they can develop in emotionally and physically healthy ways.
Our very Constitution is designed around Natural Law Theory—the idea that all human beings have the duty to educate and shape their own offspring. It is the basis of freedom. Homosexual marriage denies this Natural Right to man and particularly children. It destroys the basic concept of the Constitution.
Comes directly from Marxist ideology-—where promiscuity comes from also—to destroy all relationships so that women will deny their maternal instincts and allow strangers (and the State)to shape her children. It has taken decades for the feminist movement (Communist) to get them to kill their own genetic offspring and call it a “right” and also give their kids up to “daycare” as superior to her own nurturing and love. Women used to understand how fundamentally important they were to early development in children (piaget, erikson)—that they were emotionally damaged when removed from the bonded adult before the age of 7—when abstract thinking can really take hold.
The brilliant geniuses of of the centuries were never taken away from their parents (safety) until age 7 and even then-—not for more than a few hours.
The term "lapsed Catholic" is a liberal construct, most often used to influence polling. Catholicism is not an ethnicity. You either are one or you aren't.
You don’t have to be interested in spirituality per se, but simply in life. I can’t understand why these nutcases have limited their lives to a nervous sensation. Sister Ugly was busy praising masturbation, so her “thought” didn’t even pretend to involve any emotional or even physical connection with another human being.
That’s exactly why Our Lord tells us, repeatedly, that there are other things that are much more important (short summary of the Gospels!).

I've pinged in a coupld of FRiends to help me with this answer, if they like.
She can "profess" to be an Eskimo with about as much validity. The Catechism lists five precepts, or obligations. These are non-negotiable:
1) That you attend Mass regularly (Sundays & Holy Days), and refrain from "servile labor" on these days.
2) That you confess your sins at least once a year through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
3) That you receive the Eucharist at least once during Lent.
4) "You shall observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church."
5) That you provide for the material needs of the Church, "each according to his own ability." (Tithing)
I don't think I'm going out on a limb supposing that MoDo has not fulfilled ANY of these requirements in the last couple of decades. She may have attended a couple of weddings or funerals along the way, but that probably intensifies her problems. If she received Communion without being in a state of grace, she would have been comitting a mortal sin.
I think I've heard that MoDo claims to have been "raised a Catholic." That can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Again, Catholicism requires active participation. It is not an ethnicity. And, in any case, I question her current attitude towards the Church. If she had really participated in the faith, she wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. I've seen practicing Catholics leave for other Christian denominations that the felt suited them better. That is obviously not what happened here. Like a lot of liberals, she is upset that the Catholic Church is the most pro-life, pro-family, pro-private charity, anti-homosexual organization on the planet. The only reason people like her want to say that they outgrew Catholicism is because they think it gives them license to attack something that matters to a large percentage of the population.
Like other so-called “Catholics” — notably Pelosi, Biden, the Kennedys — they are Catholics in Name Only. They use their professed religion as bait to entrap the stupid or uninformed. In reality, they are secular atheists or agnostics that mouth belief. If MoDo regards herself as “Catholic”, then she’s one of these hypocrite CINOs. Maureen, vain, arrogant, and stupid is not the way to live a righteous life. You will find it difficult to justify your squandering of your life when you face Final Judgment.
