Mark Levin: Make Scott Walker the Speaker of the U.S. House

On his Wednesday radio program, conservative talker Mark Levin made what he called “a radical, but very rational suggestion”: Republicans should make Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Speaker of the House, despite the fact that Walker is not a sitting congressman. Walker just survived a recall election in his state.

According to Levin, to begin what he called an “80-to-100 year process” of restoring a constitutional government, it would be necessary to do something bold.

“Now folks, revolutions don’t just happen,” he said. “A movement doesn’t just happen. So we need people in place in positions of power to carry out the liberty agenda to reestablish constitutionalism, whether at the state level or at the federal level. This is an enormous opportunity for huge victories across the country and hopefully nationally so we can begin the 80-to-100 year process of unraveling the Leviathan and reestablishing constitutional government, the republic. Now is our chance. Now is our opportunity.”

Don’t need to “remove” him. There’s nothing in the U. S. Constitution that says he couldn’t simultaneously serve as Governor of a state and Speaker of the U. S. House!

Great point. We are conditioned to believe that nothing dramatic happens in politics - elections are had, one side wins, the other side concedes, and life goes on in a rather undramatic fashion. It has been 40-50 years since anything real dramatic happened in politics (minus Reagan's attempted assassination).

Therefore, we are conditioned to believe that anything bold or dramatic is a fantasy and can never happen. Two questions I have would be:

• Would doing something bold before the November elections do more harm than good? Obama's minions are trailing the enthusiasm gap by a long shot. Any bold move could invigorate them to go out to the polls in November.
• Do we have any elected GOP leaders with a spine? I used to think Darrell Issa had one, but whether he's constricted by the bureaucracy or positively feckless, his much-anticipated "investigations" prior to 2010 have gone nowhere. Boehner is a well-recognized toad. The last GOP leader I can remember with a spine was Tom DeLay. Thus, I think this is where Mark's plan fails.

This actually could be done. Elect enough TEA members and the RINOS can be stampeded. The dems heads would explode.

I wish our side would quit using that word "survive" - it connotates a "poor fellow" or "Act of God" scenario. Seems like we are playing by the left's rulebook by using their terms. Better to say Walker "beat back" or perhaps "Barrett did not survive/failed" the recall. Put the onus on the loser where it belongs.
