The Boy Scouts of America is considering a resolution that calls for ending a 102-year-old policy they’ve grappled with in recent years: banning gay scouts and scout leaders, gay advocates told msnbc.com on Wednesday. Though the organization said it would review the proposal, a spokesman insisted there were no plans to change the policy.
The new policy would throw out the national ban and allow local chartering organizations to decide whether or not they would accept gay youth and leaders, said Zach Wahls, an Eagle Scout who has advocated for the change, citing unidentified people who attended the group's national annual meeting last week where the proposal was made.

I remember 20 years ago when I was going to Cub Scout leader training that pedophiles constantly try to get into leadership positions in the Scouting program and vigilance is paramount.
You cannot leave your son with a football coach and now now weekend camping.

We have a Priest in our Parish who was a young boy in Amsterdam. He told us a story about he and his father went to go to his Troop meeting one night. When they got there they were told; no more Boy Scouts. It’s now Hitler Youth. So they left. This will have the same effect. Just an aside. He lived on Van Gough Blvd. across from the Frank family.

When the changes go into effect I expect to see an exodus from the BSA. But where will they go?
I know that the alternative to the Girl Scouts is the American Heritage Girls, but is there an alternative equivalent to the Boy Scouts?

Activities for the “Diversity” merit badge are likely still illegal in most states for most-age boy scouts.
In a free society, the correct response would be for these “activists” to start their own organization - one that reflects their own views.
But they’re not interested in freedom, they’re interested in pushing an agenda to bend everyone else to their whims.
Don’t do it, BSA! Many people support you because you are standing firm. Don’t squish.
The title should read,
“Boy Scouts Considering Going Homosexual.”

If the Boy Scouts change their policy to admit practicing homosexuals, every chicken hawk in the country will be applying to become a scout master. And families will be pulling their kids out, so it will mean the end of scouting.

It won’t mean an end to scouting if an alternative is found. It could be called the American Heritage Boys or the Conservative Boy Scouts of America or something along those lines.

When homo-leftists co-opt any organization, that organization becomes tainted, polluted, corrupted, bastardized, degraded, diverted from its true course, and ineffective at its original mission. The organization may continue to appear to exist, but if it no longer works as it did previously, then it very much is as if the organization had been destroyed.

There’s a *HUGE* LDS presence in BSA. I imagine that much of BSA’s money comes from the LDS. If the LDS pulled out (and they would), the scouts would be gutted. I can’t imagine them going lavender as long as that stands.
I imagine they would, jboot, as would a huge number of Catholic scouts. I couldn’t even imagine my own boys’ alma mater (a Catholic school with a booming Scout population) putting up with it for one second.

Witness the death throes of the Episcopal Church for evidence. Many liberal clergy inherited churches with no remaining congregants. You can also go to the petition page at whitehouse.gov and create a petition that President Obama personally discuss raping every registered female Republican. I don't know that the media is going to run a story saying "White House considers raping all female Republicans" though.

Interesting, Scoutmaster. This is the first headline of its kind I’ve ever seen, though of course I knew that the homosexuals have been pestering the BSA for decades. Looks like one of their annual “petitions” finally got the press they’ve been hoping for.
In any case, I am relieved to hear that the BSA has no plans to change its policy.

No, I don't recall the figures. It was years ago and I was only faintly interested in the conversation at the time. If it isn't true that the LDS is a major force in the BSA, well, I'm sorry for misleading.
