Climate engineering to 'cure' global warming could turn sunny blue skies WHITE
Daily Mail ^ | 6/6/12 | Rob Waugh

Aerosol spray into upper atmosphere could reflect light away from Earth

Scattering of red particles around Earth could 'wash' sky white

Effect visible everywhere on Earth

Most intense outside towns

The sky could turn from a reassuring blue to a blank white if scientists are forced to take drastic action to tackle global warming, experts have claimed.

By injecting aerosols which scatter light into the atmosphere we could reflect more sun away from Earth and cool the planet.

But the knock-on effect would be the scattering of red particles around the atmosphere that wash out the blue.

The result would be skies that turn into a foggy or hazy white instead of the crisp colours we are used to on a summer’s day.

According to report in the New Scientist, such a measure would cut by a fifth the amount of sunlight that makes its way to Earth, though the reduction in the amount of blue in the sky could be much more pronounced.

Ben Kravitz of the Carnegie Institution for Science in Stanford, California, said that mankind could turn to geoengineering to solve our problems with the environment, a drastic solution once things have taken a turn for the worse.

Anyone attempting (or even suggesting?) such massive manipulation of our planet should be shot with impunity.

Yeah, there’s a “knock-on” effect going on all right, in these idiot scientists’ heads

Mathematically ridiculous.

The Mount Pinatubo eruption put 20,000,000 tons of SO2 into the atmosphere, which resulted in the world’s atmospheric temperature being reduced by about half a degree Celsius, for just one year. (Assuming, of course, that there were no other temperature limiting factors working at the same time, which we will likely never know.)

The following year, the atmospheric temperature returned to normal.

I see grant monies at universities are needing a QE-4 stimulus.

Will the amount of Nitrogen in the atmosphere be significantly reduced and/or will the less filtering with a ‘white sky increase the skin cancer deaths sufficiently to suit the plobalists’ agenda to reduce the human population by 6 billion?

I have a better idea. Have 1,000,000 socialist democrat libs volunteer to be hoisted up in ballons into the atmosphere and bend over and expose their COMMIE RED REAR ENDS. That should take care of the red dots needed for this
hallucination.

No, you don't get it. One isn't shot with impunity, one shoots with impunity.

Oh I see, thanks for the correction. I’ve never had need for the phrase before running across this story.

As in all liberal causes, follow the money.

Much to liberals horror, at some point their cause is discovered as a cash cow for some Koch Brother or Haliburton industrial product or service.

Even Chicago's very own Nalco Chemical got exclusive rights to dump millions of barrels of surfactants all over the Gulf of Mexico from aircraft to treat oil slicks so they would sink back to the bottom, and out of sight. Unfortunately the surfactants killed more creatures than the oil did. Wildlife has been dealing with ocean oil slicks for millions of years.

The earth's atmosphere has been dealing with all sorts of wild scenareos involving every toxic gas, particulate, aerosolized metals, and solar calamity in proportions we can't even scare up.

What a stupid idea!

I often wonder what God thinks of all this "man made global warming-climate change-we must act now" silliness. Does He ever do the face palm and say "Oh, brother"? Roll His eyes? Or does He laugh?

Teflonic: Anyone attempting (or even suggesting?) such massive manipulation of our planet should be shot with impunity.

Oh yeah, that would be a fricking SHOCK if that happened. Why, I can't even IMAGINE something like that. There's just NO WAY that could ever take place.
