The race for retiring Sen. Kent Conrad’s (D-N.D.) seat has set up a test case for whether Democrats can count on voters splitting the ticket in states where people have soured on President Obama.

In North Dakota, Democrat Heidi Heitkamp has managed to make competitive a Senate race that many expected early on would be a slam-dunk for Republicans.

Sorry, but if they split their votes they are idiots.

It just cracks me up that Leftist writers always manage to make a negative into a positive for the Dems. Is anybody buying their garbage these days?

I’ve never understood why conservative states elect so many RATS.

North Dakota is not as conservative as you might think. I was stationed there for almost eight years and the biggest point politicians would make while running for office was how much money they brought back to North Dakota.

North Dakotans pride themselves on the fact they receive more total money from the Federal Government than they pay in taxes and they fully believe they are special and entitled to even more.

They are snobs in many ways and always wondered why no business wanted to locate there, even though they are out of the way logistically and the weather is bad.

If it wasn't for the oil field up there they would still have almost nothing but their politicians bringing back US Government cash and bragging about it. The problem is the oil will now swell their egos to even further, bloated, sizes.

I think the oil boom is changing North Dakota's political landscape for the better. It has already spurred a population boom as new workers have flooded into the state despite a severe shortage of available housing. And since these new North Dakotans are WORKERS and earning excellent incomes, they are likely to tilt toward the political Right.

Further, as their own tax liabilities increase in tandem with their rising incomes, even the "old" Dakotans may be shaken from their damned old Norwegian socialist ways. In a few more years, North Dakota should more closely resemble Texas and Oklahoma than their cousins' Minnesota.

Don’t fall for it. Berg will win and it won’t be very close.

“The latest polling in the North Dakota U.S. Senate race shows Democrat Heidi Heitkamp holding a very slim lead over likely Republican nominee Rick Berg. Just 7% of likely November voters in our polls say they have not yet made up their minds. The poll was conducted for KVLY and KFYR Television by Mason-Dixon Polling Group.”

Mason-Dixon’s pretty good.

Still early, she has months of lying ahead of her...

Grasping at straws..? Me thinks so.

All the Republicans have to do is tie her (and any other Democrat-no matter how moderate they try to sound) as tied to Obama in these states.

I would beat the S H I T out of her with Obama/The Far left agenda! I am sure the Republicans will do this (if they have learned anything from John McCain-the failure).
