Nationwide rallies target birth control measure

Demonstrators gathered on Capitol Hill Friday afternoon decried the Obama administration's policy to require private health insurance plans to cover contraception as a violation of religious freedom.

The rally was affiliated with more than 100 other demonstrations under the same name taking place across the country. The issue has united multiple faiths, with evangelical, Orthodox Jewish, Roman Catholic and Mormon leaders recently forming networks in every state dedicated to promoting religious liberty, starting with their opposition to the mandate.

Last year, an advisory panel from the Institute of Medicine, which advises the federal government, recommended including birth control on the list of covered services for women. But many faith and political leaders argued that the mandate's exception for religious groups was too narrow.

In response, Obama offered to soften the rule so that insurers would pay for birth control instead of religious groups. Roman Catholic bishops and others have said that the accommodation, which is still under discussion, doesn't go far enough to protect religious freedom. Lawsuits have been filed in at least eight states.

A Catholic Organization like the Knights of Columbus would be required to buy Insurances that includes birth control and abortifacients. Given the ready availability of such measures, why compel organizations, or even individuals who oppose their use,to buy insurance that covers them? No one is required to work for a Catholic organization. If one chooses to work for such an organization, should one not have enough respect not to demand that it give you free contraceptives?

Erronious reporting. The mandate requires not only contraceptives, but also sterilization procedures and abortifacient drugs paid for by the employer regardless of the employer’s religious views.

This is done deliberately to confuse less educated groups of voters.

(VANITY) What if we ALL use the “FREE” contraception being offered? And tossing them?

Alright, most FReepers know me as a Catholic - well, at least those who have noticed me over the decade I have been posting here. And most folks know that the Church believes and teaches that artificial contraception is a sin. So what kind of odd heretic would suggest we all go in and get our ladies prescriptions for this new, mandated “FREE” benefit that is driving my healthcare premiums up 17% this year?

Well, I read Alinsky’s “rules” and this is one of them. Use their “rules” against them! If everyone gets this garbage and throws it away (maybe flushing it into the sewer system), the system will break down. If we get as close to 100% demand for this poison into the system, they will run out! Game the system folks, turn the wheel the way they want, but faster than they can accept. Cause shortages of this horrific, nasty carcinogen that kills babies, wife’s and mothers.

A little Obama context:

“The foetus is the property of the entire society.Anyone having children is a deserter who abandons the laws of national continuity.” -- Nicolae Ceausescu

Birth control is a state issue. If FEDZILLA left it alone, it’d be banned outright in about 20 states, limited to married couples in about 15 or 20 more, and provided free to everyone over age 6 in the rest. Guess which states would be getting the bulk of God’s blessings? Hmmmm...

Maybe 300 in DC today. Hard to tell, given all the reporters present. The MSM shows up to cover conservative events, but doesn’t air anything at all unless they get something they can use for spin.

I wish I’d gotten more advance notice, so I could try to bring other people along. As it was it was just me, in my scrubs, straight from work.

I think Ceausescu must have said "anyone not having children...

An unborn child is not the "property"" of society, or his parents, or even his pregnant mother. Like every human being, he belongs to himself: he is his own, and God's.

Well, no actually. Children were *routinely* confiscated by the Ceausescu regime, some of them in schemes most remiscent of sorcery.

For example, any triplets were taken away to serve magical purposes for “dear leader”. Other children were just stuffed away in dungeon conditions.

Hmm... I see your point. But this is really strange: I googled it and the quote is out there both ways: "Anyone having children..." and "Anyone who avoids having children..."

See for yourself:

The Dayton rally made it to YouTube. A homosexual told the cops he was offended by the signs, and the cops made everyone put down their signs. Here's a link to the confrontation. http://bryankemper.com/2012/06/08/sinclairpolicelie/
