Obama’s data advantage [Drudge Headline: "Obama Watching You"]
politico ^ | 6/9/12 | Lois Romano

On the sixth floor of a sleek office building here, more than 150 techies are quietly peeling back the layers of your life. They know what you read and where you shop, what kind of work you do and who you count as friends. They also know who your mother voted for in the last election.

The depth and breadth of the Obama campaign’s 2012 digital operation — from data mining to online organizing — reaches so far beyond anything politics has ever seen, experts maintain, that it could impact the outcome of a close presidential election. It makes the president’s much-heralded 2008 social media juggernaut — which raised half billion dollars and revolutionized politics — look like cavemen with stone tablets.

Obama’s 2012 Theme Song should be:

Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
Ill be watching you

Every single day
And every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
Ill be watching you

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
Now my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Since youve gone, Ive been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but its you I cant replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
Now my poor heart aches
Every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Every move you make
Every step you take
Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
(Ill be watching you)

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
(Ill be watching you)

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
(Ill be watching you)

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
(Ill be watching you)

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
(Ill be watching you)

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night

It is funny to me there are still people that don’t think this guy is not like Stalin or the H word. He is sinister and evil. I still hold it in my heart that there will not be an election. Call me paraniod but who would have thought that a president would have techie spies watching people. I mean Nixon had an enemies list but this is scary. He is watching private citizens. He’s got a plan, and what it is we will be finding out soon.

So, I sent Barry the following email in December of 2009 in response to an email I got from his campaign folks. Think I'm on some sort of list?
Subject: Fwd: We will not back down
To: info@barackobama.com

In all my years alive I have NEVER seen anyone in the position of the presidency do more than you to undermine the very concept of the United States. Not even Jimmy Carter comes close.

I have become convinced by your choices that you are either a blithering idiot, as seen by the tiny fraction of your nominees who have any private sector experience compared to all other presidents back into the century before last, or an arrogant fool, as seen by the tiny fraction of your nominees who have any private sector experience compared to all other presidents back into the century before last. Same for your plans for health care. Same for your breaking the bank through deficit spending. Same for your cash for clunkers. Same for your support of that complete fraud of anthropogenic global warming and every bit of statist crap built on top of that from "renewable energy" to cap and trade to Copenhagen.

You've been an embarrassment and disaster for the United States and a blight upon the world. You've set back by at least a generation the chances for a competent black or fractionally black individual to be elected President.

In 2010 the first adjustment will come. In 2012 the second. And soon after that you will be that diminishing revolting burp people have to experience after having swallowed something that had lots of pretty garnishes but turned out to be fundamentally unfit for human consumption.

I and all the others you derisively refer to as tea-baggers will not back down either.

Here's another one:
Date: Sat May 14 02:42:50 WST 2011
Subject: Re: Something happened
To: info@barackobama.com

"The CEOs from the five major oil companies -- which together booked $36 billion in profits in the first quarter of 2011 alone -- went to the Senate on Thursday to try to justify the $4 billion in tax giveaways they're receiving this year."

You see, I also know that for every dollar of profit, oil companies have paid about three dollars of tax. I also know that for the fourth quarter of 2010, Exxon-Mobil made a profit of about 2 cents on every gallon of gasoline sold, whereas the federal and state governments made over 50 cents "windfall profit" per gallon through taxes for doing absolutely nothing in locating, drilling, refining, and delivering the gas.

I know that most of those "tax giveaways" go to small, independent oil companies, not the big corporations. I know that eliminating long standing tax deductions (the things you guys mislabel as "giveaways") will help big oil by eliminating competition. Hmm, which big oil gave Barry Obama 20 billion to use for something that still hasn't happened? What is Barry planning to do with the loot? I know that Barry's favorite "green" technologies have received far more subsidies than the oil industry and they produce and will produce almost nothing of America's energy. So, in dollars spent for unit of energy gained, wind, solar, ethanol, and geothermal are among the biggest wasters of taxpayer money in the history of energy.

Something happened.

It's people in the millions seeing the ruin that Barry's Soros-directed policies have made of a strong and prosperous nation and determining that they're not going to be fooled again.

Something is happening.

It's the last grains of sand in the hourglass rapidly draining away. Get ready to find private sector employment.

And another one:
Date: Tue Sep 20 00:01:30 WST 2011
Subject: Re: "Class warfare"
To: info@barackobama.com

Geez, please! You guys are such economic tards. Go back to the late 19th century when Barry's political economy was in vogue, though, even then, it was just as defective.

I know that if all the income of all the "millionaires and billionaires" were confiscated, it would be enough to run the federal government for a matter of months, if that. So when I hear Barry appealing to the mass of people who are paying little to nothing at all in income or capital gains taxes while getting "benefits" such as food stamps and free medical care like Medicaid against "the wealthy" to gain support for his plan to impose higher taxes on folks making far, far, far less than millions and billions, and promising more loot to his voter base, I know he's engaging in class warfare.

The thrill is gone. The Democrat soda is flat. The mask has come off. The man behind the curtain has been revealed. And what the American people are seeing isn't something as grand as an old man who got lost in his balloon and wound up in Oz mistaken for a wizard. We see a self-deluded relic from the radical sixties playing a political theme that is even more lame than disco.

To quote Roy Orbison, "It's over. It's OOOOOOOOOOOVER."

And the last one I sent:

Subject: Re: Now we know
To: info@barackobama.com

Now, more than ever, we know you're a clueless, scheming anti-American asshole of the highest caliber. The Bush years had 52 consecutive months of economic growth after his tax cuts. A record. The Bush years had an unemployment rate, even in the beginning of 2008, of ~5% or under. Yes, now we know that YOU ARE A MISERABLE FAILURE!!

One of these days, they’ll have it down to the point where they can identify the couple thousand or so voters that are needed to swing the election to their side.

Yep. And those couple thousand will be visited by teams of "persuaders".

Obama can data mine all he wants... what’s he going to do, blackmail people into voting for him?

He may try blackmailing people into not opposing him. Look at the level of harassment that supporters of California's anti-gay-marriage Proposition 8 received. Look at the Wisconsin mailings listing neighbors who have not voted.

Now, there's accusations that the Obama campaign is targeting Republican donors for harassment. Don't be surprised if it doesn't get VERY ugly.

I will not be surprised to see Leftist activists get lists of conservative supporters, including their home addresses, and contact info for their employers.

I don't think there is a thread for it, but there was some scary news last week that went pretty well unnoticed.

It has been announced that Ancestry.com has been put up for sale. It was reported tht the two most likely suitors will be...... Yep, you probably guessed it...... Google and Facebook. Everyone knows that both Google, and FB are left lead businesses, so Ancestry will provide them and the dims a proverbial gold mine of personal family information.

Think about why these two would bite? Neither has geneaology as core to their business.

Some of this, no doubt, is psychological operations

Just like the $1,000,000,000 he was going to raise to defeat Romney; That's not working so well for President Fundraiser.

Think it would be too blatant if we just started calling Obama “Big Brother”? If Drudge can call Janet Napolitano “Big Sis”, we should be able to call Obama by his functional name, shouldn’t we?

Big brother is definitely here.

I work for a “big data” analytics company and the power of today’s computing technology along with the vast amounts of data that is available is astounding. With the right knowledge (which i am sure they have), you could load hundreds of billions of records into a single database, and perform analysis across data from a variety of sources:

- personal financial data
- financial industry data
- census data
- employment data
- voting data
- social media posts
- blog posts
- focus group data
- etc.

Someone said above - they would be able to target a group of 2000-3000 people where the election could hang in balance. And with all the information they have available, they could use that detailed data to structure a campaign message specifically at that group of people.
