Former Republican presidential contender and Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Rick Santorum announced the formation of a new conservative group Friday, saying it will seek to thwart President Obama's bid for re-election in 2012.
"The defeat of Barack Obama, and those who support his policies, will be our first priority."

I am tired of tiptoing here.
Romney might be to the left of McCain. But he is still to the right of the commie obozo.
And Romney’s last few months of speeches suggest he actually hears us Tea Partiers (something McCain never did).
VOTE OBOZO OUT! HOLD YOUR FREAKING NOSES AGAIN AND LET’S SET THE TABLE FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF REAL CONSERVATIVES!!!!
Rick Santorum continues to be a “Big Government Conservative”, instead of, truly, becoming a “small government conservative”, instead, and this is one of the ongoing problems with Rick. This, and his ongoing coming across as being a snob.
Too little, too late. Should have developed a sttrong conservative presence before the liberal used car salesman was annointed the Republican nominee.
I agree, it’s not too late and I know someone who is involved in this project, Patriot Voices, and it looks very promising.
We conservatives need all the help we can get to make sure our voices are heard.
Let’s give them a chance to become more relevant than “Cain solutions’. Rick Santorum was our best hope for a decent candidate. And if he stays relevant and in the public eye, it can do no harm.
We are, where we are. The choice is Obama or Romney.
Every sensible conservative recognizes the “clear and present danger” Obama is to the US and understands that the ONLY way to defeat him is to get out and vote for Romney.
Time to face reality, instead of throwing temper tantrums resulting in re-electing Obama.
Even Santorum is realizing that now. It’s time for conservatives to follow his example.
Hey Rick———Uppa U.S.
say it fast.
Looks like you are another Obama-supporter — nobody, except Obama,— is good enough for you.
Do we need more conservative groups?
Will that give us more conservative voters?
Is this a positive development or another ego trip?
Is it more effective to have another relatively small group or would it be more productive to strengthen exisitng groups with an eye on consolidating (or coordinating) the various conservative movemments into a strong, cohesive national effort?
Could Santorum be more effective and have a greater impact bringing his stature, and presence to an existing conservative group?
I WILL NOT vote for Romney, period. Don’t try to guilt me into doing so. It won’t work.
Another Romney Republican fundraising front group.
*yawn*
“I WILL NOT vote for Romney, period. Don’t try to guilt me into doing so. It won’t work.”
You can do anything you want, just face reality, be honest, and admit that the result of your action IS REELECTING OBAMA.
You should correct your statement to: “I WILL NOT vote for Romney, period. I prefer to give Obama a second term.”
I am merely pointing out that even the most conservatives, like Santorum, understand that defeating Obama is imperative for the survival of this nation and the only way to do that at this point is to get out the vote FOR Romney.
I appreciate both your pseudonym and your stance. The fundamental issue is that a non-vote or a third party vote for anyone with no chance to win is simply a vote for the winner by default.
Conservatives, take note and follow Santorum's example!
Uh, no. Defeating Democrats, ALL Democrats, is the first priority. See tag line.
I wono’t have to hold my nose anywhere near as hard to vote for Romney as I did to vote for John the freakin “maverick(TM)” McCain..... Santorum has it dead to rights here, all we’re talking about at this point is getting the US government back under adult supervision.
This is not good news for conservatism.
Some in their hatred for Mitt Romney would him see rather see lose and make sure that arrogant, lazy pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave get reelected and accomplish his destruction of this great Nation
The key is a conservative Congress, nothing else matters anywhere near as much.
Judge Robert Bork is heading up Romney’s judicial selection panel for all appellate judges, including the Supremes.
Isn’t this good enough reason to vote for Romney? The Supreme Court is at stake.
Excellent, sage advice
I don't know why, but I'm reminded of a joke from junior high school: What's the definition of gross? You kiss your granny goodbye and she slips you the tongue. Romney. The Rombots are right: he's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Maybe better, maybe not. Probably not. Screw him and his robots. And Ann Coulter and her Adam's apple. And Innovative. S/he's gotta be a paid operative. S/he comes on this conservative site, like a striped pole-cat, and sprays everything--over-and-over-- with this foul lefty scent: `Vote for Romney Or You're Going To Hell!'. So screw him/her too.
” And Romneys last few months of speeches suggest he actually hears us Tea Partiers (something McCain never did).”
You mean like when he chose an Obamacare advocate to lead his transition team?

“with this foul lefty scent: `Vote for Romney Or You’re Going To H&ll!’. “
What I say is not important — the point is that EVERY thinking conservative, including Santorum, Gingrich and anyone else you can think of ARE SAYING THE SAME THING: “VOTE FOR ROMNEY TO DEFEAT OBAMA”.
And any conservative who stays home or votes third party is enabling an Obama second term.
You can throw temper tantrums or you like, but facts are facts. The “lefty scents” come from those who are promoting that conservatives stay home or vote third party TO ENABLE OBAMA.

Bork is a gun control advocate. Good fit for someone who passed restrictive gun control
Sorry about the multiple posts. My phone glitched on me.
The attitude you addressed is way to prevalent for my tastes. I don’t feel like I belong here.
Saintorum has already done enough damage in this election cycle.
This zealot loon will not get my support on anything he might be involved in.
Here is just one simple example of your Ricky’s commitment to the constitution and the rule of law.

Frankly, that phony makes me want to gag.
OK, forget Santorum.
Based on your tagline, you supported Newt — well, guess what, Newt is supporting Romney and has been campaigning for him. He also understands that it is imperative for the survival of the country that Obama be defeated.
Yes, this is another of the memes being pushed, isn't it? Unless you vote for Romney, you're a knuckle-dragging toothless hillbilly; those voting for Willard are the elite, the intellectually gifted, the brilliant. It's all very liberal in tone. (I remember audio from one of Romney's campaign stops....some metrosexual said, "I am a Romney supporter and I am PROUD to say that I'm also an elitist").
Never before have I seen conservatives who cannot vote for an abortion-pusher & sodomite lover mocked and discounted by their fellow conservatives for their decision. Some of us feel---no, scratch that, it isn't a feeling, it's a conviction and a KNOWLEDGE---that God is telling us not to associate ourselves with someone like Romney. For paying attention to Him, well, then, that makes us self-righteous, "pure", etc. I'm neither righteous nor pure, but my spiritual Spidey sense is telling me this is serious business. Yeah, it makes me sick that I can't vote against Obama. But I'm going to listen to what God's been telling me.
Just posted this article:
Conservatives and Romney work at working together

“God is telling us not to associate ourselves with someone like Romney”
I really doubt that God is telling you to help Obama get reelected, which is the result of you voting for someone other than Romney or not voting.
Geez :
I post I don’t like Santorum and you jump to one of the dumbest conclusions I have ever read.
Where Oh my learned FR iend have I ever said Obama was “good enough” for me?
Just because I don’t like Romney and think Santorum was working for Romney the whole time certainly does not mean I would ever support an idiot like Obama.
Thanks for the clarification. :)
The point is that the primaries are over, the past is the past and what we are facing today is Obama or Romney.
I appreciate Rick’s courage over the years to stand up for values that few had the courage to defend....
But I still refuse to ride.
Then don't vote 'for' him - vote against Obama.
Otherwise, if you take actions which will benefit Obama and keep him in office another 4 years, allowing his philosophy to also take control of the Supreme Court to affect the nation for decades to come, you will indeed be guilty of what you caused.
wow — I just haven’t been able to use my PDA (much less phone) to do more than look...

p8, that is a heck of a great idea.
Sadly you are right, but I don’t intend to send Santorum one cent so he can decide how to spend it.
“OK, forget Santorum.”
If only I could.
Conservatives and Romney work at working together>"
So what? You, and others, can do what you want.
You shouldn't be so surprised that not all conservatives are going to close ranks around Willard, especially those who object to the abortion-enabler/sodomite lover on a religious basis. Actually, I don't think it IS surprise on your part; it's more like anger because some folks refuse to see things your way.
LOL, why, you arrogant little thing----you're a laff riot!
Please...don’t we have enough PACs and think tanks? And what to they do? They send out scary letters telling you the world will end unless you sign their petition, oh, and send lots of money, too.
These places exist to provide cushy jobs for the members of the permanent political class and their families. They never change anything.
Bull! It’s this kind of nonsense that allows the Republican hierarchy to flustered substandard candidates on us.
If I don’t vote for Romney, I’m not voting for Romney. That’s all it means .
