Syria's ultimatum to Christians: "Leave Qusayr"
06/9/2012
The message sent out by the military chief of the armed opposition has spread panic and lead to a Christian exodus
vatican insider staff
rome
An exodus of Christians is taking place in Western Syria: the Christian population has fled the city of Qusayr, near Homs, following an ultimatum issued by the military chief of the armed opposition, Abdel Salam Harba.

This is what local sources told Vatican news agency Fides, pointing out that since the conflict broke out, only a thousand of the city's ten thousand faithful, were left and they are now being forced to flee immediately. Some of the city's mosques have issued the message again, announcing from the minarets: "Christians must leave Qusayr within six days, ending Friday." The ultimatum therefore expired on 8 June and spread fear among the Christian population which had started to regain hope as a result of the presence of the Jesuit Fr. Paolo Dall'Oglio, who stopped off in Qusayr for a week to "pray and fast in the name of peace, right in the midst of conflict."

The reasons for this ultimatum remain a mystery. Some say it is necessary in order to protect faithful from further suffering; other sources reveal "a continuity in discrimination and selective repression." Others still claim that Christians have openly expressed their loyalty to the state and this is why the opposition army is chasing them away. Now Christian families in Qusayr have begun their exodus as displaced persons, towards the surrounding valleys and rural areas. Some have taken refuge in parents' and friends' homes in Damascus. Very few families have courageously decided to stay behind in their birth city but who knows what fate will meet. Fides sources have reiterated that groups of Salafi Islamic extremists within the armed opposition consider Christians as "infidels"; they confiscate their belongings, carry out mass executions and are ready to declare a "denominational war".

ASIA/SYRIA - Ultimatum to Christians: "Leave Qusayr"
[June 9, 2012]

Qusayr (Agenzia Fides) - Exodus of Christians in the west of Syria: the Christian population has left the town of Qusayr, near Homs, following an ultimatum from the military chief of the armed opposition, Abdel Salam Harba. This is what local sources of Fides report, indicating that, following the outbreak of the conflict, out of the ten thousand faithful who lived in the town, only a thousand have remained, who have now been forced to flee in haste to fury. Some mosques in the city have re-launched the message, announcing from the minarets: "Christians must leave Qusayr within six days, which expires this Friday." The ultimatum, therefore, expired yesterday, June 8, and produced fear among the Christian population who had begun to hope again after the presence of Father Paolo Dall'Oglio, the Jesuit who stayed in Qusayr for a week, with the idea of "praying and fasting for peace in the midst of the conflict" (see Fides 30/5/2012).

The reasons for this ultimatum remain unclear. According to some, it serves to avoid more suffering to the faithful; other sources reveal "a continuity focused on discrimination and repression." Still others argue that Christians have openly expressed their loyalty to the state and for this reason the opposition army drives them away. Now Christian families from Qusayr have begun their exodus of refugees in the valleys and the surrounding countryside. Some have taken refuge with relatives and friends in Damascus. Some families, very few, sought valiantly to stay in their home town, but no one knows what fate they will suffer. Fides sources insist that Islamic Salafist extremist groups, that are in the ranks of the armed opposition, consider Christians "infidels", they confiscate the goods, commit brief executions and are ready to start a "sectarian war". Too bad Syria’s Alawite government can’t just export the country’s Sunni Arabs to a country more in tune with Sunni principles - like Egypt.

The headline should really read: “Syrian opposition’s ultimatum to Christians - Leave Qusayr”.

“Let us pray that peace be now restored to the world and that God will preserve it always.”

Darkness must to destroyed first.

Prior to this, there will be a 7 year peace agreement signed, but will last only 42 months.

It’s not going to happen anyother way.

Darkness must to destroyed first.

My tagline was MacArthur's closing statement at the Japanese surrender ceremonies, as concluded on the battleship Missouri.

muslim brotherhood is just wanting to use us to fight their war.

The real “war on women” starts when the muslim brotherhood takes control.

I don’t believe one of our troop’s life or one dime of our money is worth helping the muslim brotherhood take over another government.

In time, we will realize that obama did for Egypt, Libya, and soon-to-be Syria, what jimmy carter did for Iran.

Well at least this time, they managed to put a “u” after the “q” when they created the English spelling.

If Truman hadn’t handcuffed him.....well.

I have a great respect for the General. When I was in Kandahar last year, staying in a tent with about 30 TCN’s (Third Country Nationals), there were Filipino’s in the tent also, and on base, his legacy of respect by them continues for the most part.

The reasons for this ultimatum remain a mystery.

There's no mystery.

Make room for the Christians, and let the rest kill each other. Muslims are worse than the Amalekites, and they are going to come to the same end.

While it truly sucks right now for the Christians in the mid east, ultimately, their being forced out will benefit them and us all.

The concentration of muslim control means that at some future point when the world has finally woken up, depowered their liberals and admitted that Islam = evil, said world leaders will not have the burden of trying to avoid killing innocents when the war begins. There will be no innocents. Just a concentration of muslim jihadis with defined borders.

Now people say ‘never happen”. Well, people said the same thing about tens of thousands of Christians taking up arms and heading to the mid east once before. They said the same about a young America sending ships to confront the Barbary pirates. They said the same about WW!, 2 Korea, Vietnam, Iraq twice, the Romans, Spaniards....

Eventually, western civilization will have had it’s fill of Islam as it did before. It will be forced into war as it was MANY times before. The only question is when. Not ‘if’, When.

And once Iran uses the nukes that current leaders are too cowardly to stop them from developing, that will happen in short order.

It’s like the old joke. “Why are there no Muslim crewmwmbers on the Enterprise? Answer: Because Star Trek takes place in the 25th century.

As much as I would like to believe the above and usually history does repeat itself, however, in this political correctness age I have my doubts. I tend to think it will take a near genocidal attack by the Muslims before the world truly gets that Islam is a suicidal/murderous cult.

” I tend to think it will take a near genocidal attack by the Muslims before the world truly gets that Islam is a suicidal/murderous cult. “

Oh it absolutely will. There’s not a doubt in my mind. 9/11 didn’t kill enough people to shock liberals into reality. The financial havok that resulted wasn’t enough either. But muslims will indeed keep killing and eventually they’ll kill some sacred cows of the left along with the rest of us. Likely in nuke/biological fashion.

I mean honestly, they have been telling western civ for hundreds of years “Submit or die”. The only people that don’t take them seriously are the deluded libs that think they can leverage their ‘antics’ to serve some purpose and people that don’t care about anything happening outside their field of vision.

Eventually the muslims are going to get hella frustrated at being ignored and they will top 9/11 spectacularly. By their ignoring the problem, the libs are guaranteeing that muslims will keep killing until someone notices and ‘gives them the respect’ they want...right before submitting to Islamic rule. In their minds.

No, in the current environment it won’t happen. But that environment WILL change. It ALWAYS changes. Perhaps not for a decade or five...but it will.

The Christians are paying the price for taking the side of the Alawites, the butchers now in power. Understandably, there is no good side to pick from there. If they sat on the sidelines there would be less feeling for revenge by the revolutionaries.

I agree - this whole “Arab Spring” was encouraged by Obama as his way of doing a little ethnic - or religious - cleansing of what he no doubt considers the lands of Islam.

Yes, displacing Christian populations, many of which predate Mohammad, is simply Spring cleansing.

Sunni Arabs don't need an excuse to slaughter Christians - they do it for pleasure, as long as it goes unpunished. The persecution of non-Sunni Arabs in Qusayr is merely an example of what happens when Sunni Arabs are free to do as they please, instead of being hobbled by an apostate Alawite regime that protects non-Sunni minorities. Ultimately, the cure for what ails the Christians in Qusayr is the mass deportation of its Sunni Arabs to a more like-minded country, like Egypt or Saudi Arabia.

My view is that the conventional wisdom among Democrats and Republicans in power, cheerled by think tanks on both sides, is democracy will cure all warts. The problem is that democracy in Syria entrenches our sworn enemies, the Sunni Arabs, in power. When was the last time you'd ever heard of an Alawite suicide bomber? Democracy doesn't make the Sunni Arab masses our friends - it just makes it easier for these troglodytes to act on their preferred policy of making war on us until we submit.

Hardly. Look at Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan. It doesn’t matter. They are not mohammadens so they must leave or die. It’s as simple as that.
