If it doesn’t turn out the way they want the results will be kept internally.

President Obama Visits Philadelphia Tuesday For Fundraiser At Franklin Institute

June 7, 2012 3:53 AM

Reporting Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Star-gazing will take on a different meaning at the Franklin Institute Tuesday evening when President Obama visits for a fundraiser.

Philadelphia Democrat high-flyers have shown their enthusiasm for President Obama, shelling out millions of dollars at a fundraiser last year, but the Obama campaign committee is going to the well again with an event providing various degrees of access to the president linked to ticket prices ranging from $250 for a reception, $10,000 for dinner and $40,000 for a roundtable discussion with the president.

Former Governor Ed Rendell, a well-known Obama supporter, says he thinks the city will deliver for the president.

“They’ll raise significant money. Look, people want the president to win, his support is solid here among the donor base and I think it will be a good event.”

Rendell says this era of super PACS and unfettered corporate contributions has made fundraising more important than ever in presidential politics.
