Group says Calif. air regulations discriminate

A coalition of environmental groups is alleging that California's Cap and Trade program violates the 1964 Civil Rights act.

The groups filed a complaint Friday against the California Air Resources Board charging that minority groups will be disproportionately harmed by the program that allows polluters to discharge more emissions by buying credits from other less-polluting industries.

The complaint alleges that African-Americans, Latinos and Asians are more likely to live in the low-income neighborhoods near refineries and power plants and will not receive the benefit of emission reductions intended under Cap and Trade.

Even by liberal standards, this is exceptionally stupid. “Cap and Trade” is supposed to limit CO2 emissions. The alleged problem with CO2 is not local but global - Anthropogenic Global Warming to be specific. Exactly how is AGW supposed to hurt minorities more than whites?

Good question, but more to the point, plenty of lawyers on both sides of this insanity stand to make large sums of money, one way or another.

Doesn’t matter where the money comes from!

” Total insanity. “

Agree, as far as the argument presented goes - now, if they were arguing “Disparate Impact” of energy price increases arising from Cap&Tax, they might be able to pull it off...

(Of course, that would entail a Lib organization admitting that their pet cause actually does more harm than good..)

If a Lib lawsuit can get the insane Cap&Tax legislation struck down, then that goes in the books as a ‘win’... (Winning-ugly is still a win... ;))

Hey this could be fun! One liberal group pitted against other officially aggrieved liberal interests. In this case, the global warming crowd vs. minorities.

Plants need to breathe CO2 for their very life. Suppressing CO2, which already is only .03% of the atmosphere, discriminates against Vegetation-Americans (VAs) and other green things. They are slowly being asphyxiated by these anti-CO2 regulations.

Someone still has to explain the math.

Apples are bad for us and we have to get rid of apples to save the planet from smelling like apples.

Johnny has 5 apples. Peter has 1 apple. Johnny hates apples. Peter loves apples. So Johnny sells his 5 apples to Peter.

They started with 6 apples. They still have 6 apples. The only difference is Al brokered the deal and skimmed some money from Peter and in the end Peter got his apples. Al took a cut, and Johhny got screwed.

All the AGW discussion does is benefit intellectual criminals... lawyers and compromised scientists.
I understand the blood sucking, nothing honest to do, zero moral character lawyers - it is what they train to do and they have no useful skill in society.
Any scientist buying into the AGW BS is no scientist (engineer) at all. To advocate technical issues based on methods and data of the most dubious nature is heresy and these people should have their BS/MS/Phd’s pulled for professional dishonesty.

Of course the lawyers on both sides will be paid by the taxpayer. So the whole joke is on the taxpayer and consumer.
The lawyers are the only ones who will profit from the exercise.

So, if we are a minority, ie. weak, gay or whatever, we can pollute because we have inherently accepted ourselves as submissive dogs of the state. And, yet that state would not exist with the private hiring it in the first place.

Whatever.

Nothing good is going to come out of these arrogances.

“So Cap and Trade is “RACIST”!!!!!!!”

Everything is RACIST today. Skin color uber alles! No common sense, everybody who’s not white has a bitch with “whitey.” “I want’s my Obama bucks! I is entitled to being taken care of by the government because life’s a bitch not being white!” Obama isn’t really a Black man (he’s only something like 7% black), it just that he “looks” black, and thats’ good enough for the racist blacks and other non-whites! And when he is defeated in November, the racists will say it’s because he’s black, not because he was a poor leader.
