California voters threw a wrench Tuesday into fellow Californian Nancy Pelosi's plans.
The former House speaker from San Francisco, once third in line for the presidency and architect of the key legislation of President Obama's first term, is making a longshot bid to regain House control this year.
The minority leader was counting on California, home to an increasing number of Democratic Party voters and where new legislative district maps forced four veteran GOP lawmakers into retirement, to deliver half a dozen of the net gain of 25 seats she needs.
After the results of last week's primary election in the state, Democrats now hope to pick up four or five seats, said Jennifer Crider, deputy executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Republicans think the state will end up delivering next to nothing for Democrats.
"I think it comes out to virtually a wash in California," said Brock McCleary, deputy political director of the National Republican Congressional Committee, which oversees House races.
By any measure, the new "top two" primary, low voter turnout and redrawn districts produced disappointment for Democrats on Tuesday.

More like a douche bag trying to lift the bucket she is standing in.
Only a huge, unexpected catastrophe would have given the rats control of the house. R’s have never been behind (this election cycle) in the generic poll of registered voters. Historically, if we are about 5% down in that poll, we are even with the rats in the house. Right now, we are running 7 points up.
That doesn’t take into account the grim determination (not enthusiam—this is not a rah-rah year. I see grim determination) I see at party meetings and other talk-to-the-voters events to vote Zero out of office. Turnout amongst R’s is going to set a record this year.

Have never been worried about the House, and republicans just need a net gain of 4 seats in the senate races to take control of the senate. They have to defend 23 seats. We just have to defend 10.
But Scarorough has GUARANTEED that there will be political gridlock next year.
Reid has said that the Senate filibuster rules will be changed in the next senate. So, guess he has given us the green light.
Am gettin a bit nervous about the ND senate race. North Dakota is having an oil boom and an oil rush of lotta guys heading up there. As a result North Dakota has just had its first ever pimp arrest. Hard to believe, but they’ve never had to arrest anyone for pimping before. Another state sliding to Gomorrah - lol.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the average California welfare voter; be they legal or illegal, felon or or free, alive or dead, they will vote. Worst part is the Demoncraps in this state don’t even have to cheat, they have the cities tied up.

Anyway, Pelosi Snaredrum Face reminds me of a colonel’s wife I knew who didn’t like where they were stationed so she got & stayed spaced out on Valium. An habitual drunk is far more reasonable. Pelosi’s on something too, JMHO.

FWIW people have been saying GOP primary turnout is good is Cali and may not speak to GE strength.
But still worst case I don’t see us dropping more than 1 seat. Democrats have an uphill fight in 16 districts and no candidate in 2 more. If we do well (Romney not getting blown out in the state would help) we could gain several. It’s them who are on the hot seat defending 3 incumbents as well as 2 open seats they thought they’d easily take. Vulnerable incumbents on our side are Bilbray (in a close seat) and Lungren (but he is in a GOP seat and should win).
In 2 seats I thought the rats would win they performed poorly in one (CD 26 with Conservative Tony Strickland) and failed to make the runoff in another (CD 31).
As to the rats chances of taking the House, I never thought they would or even come close, I just can’t count the seats they win to get to 218. Most serious predictions up till now have been of a small rat gain of 10 seats or less. I haven’t gone over every state and counted but we could have a net gain if things go well.
Without their falsely expected Cali Bonanza obviously they probably don’t even think they can. Really the only way is if they have a national tide and Obama landslide.
