G.H.W. Bush earned his defeat almost as much as Carter did!

Unfortunately, he did not campaign "his heart out."

I think checking his watch during the debate was the final nail in the coffin.

No he didn’t. I still remember seeing Barbara give a speech where she basically said they didn’t really care if they won...but they were at least going through the motions.

The best description of the Bush campaign, was something like, “The Campaign of Christmas past.” It was invisible, nearly non-existent until way late in the game, and way too nice to that drunken, drug addled, and philanderer, Clinton.

Coming off Dessert Storm, I think Bush was convinced he couldn’t lose until late in the game. Then he began to take notice and the polls became the awakening giant he couldn’t overcome.

Bush was lucky to have one term. The only reason he was elected in 1988, was to carry on the Reagan legacy. And then he didn’t. It just wasn’t in him.

I honestly think Bush was the most qualified man to ever become president. Unfortunately his experience didn’t instill Reagan-like qualities that we so desperately needed. Failing that, we instead got the organized crime figure from Arkansas, and he put a stake through the nations heart, dividing us right down the middle.

Thought he was already 90.
