Obama only wants the jobs corrupted by the socialist unions. Never mind positions that create real wealth and productivity. The nation can't be allowed to recover. Its pretty clear that to the liberals that a productive and proactive America is a problem. Only a free America can recover. Freedom to pursue enterprise promotes the individual. Unions promote the group.

One can learn nearly anything below the Bachelor's degree on YouTube. Between broadband Internet and decent testing, we really don't need k-BS teachers any more. Oh, the kids might need the occasional tutor to help get something across or correct their work, but there's Skype for that. The profession is a baby sitting service disguised as a dinosaur. Worse, by far most people in the occupation of "educator" are the dregs of intellectual development, a claque of activists and con artists spewing propaganda disguised as learning.

Rush is wrong. Flush the whole thing.

As to firefighters, I think we should go back to the system where they were hired by the insurance companies.

As to the criminal "justice" system, by far most of it exists because of rotten morals taught in schools and mass media. Fix the education system and two-thirds of it goes away, at least.

It’s such a bait and switch. They tell you they have to raise taxes to pay for firemen and then they turn around and hire Racial Outreach Coordinators.

Hussein Obama Dada is, unsurprisingly, only concerned about the welfare of the workers that are in the unions that the Dems “own”, and are parasitic on the productive members of our economy. He has conspired to destroy the entire professions of the medical community, doctors, dentists, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons, x-ray techs, most all of whom work for non-government employers, or themselves. He doesn’t appear concerned with the plight of construction workers, although many of those are in unions. Maybe The Dems don’t own those unions. Most truckers work for non-government employers, but I’ve not seen anyone concerned with their situation. Just police, firemen, and teachers......

Good for Rush for separating the individuals and the jobs they do from the union bosses and their highly developed political system.

I have a little bit of perspective here as an insider. When I first began working as a firefighter 23 years ago, we had a handfull of chiefs at headquarters doing administrative work, fire prevention and planning. These “chiefs” had about three secretaries.

The city has literally had approximately the same number of fire stations and firefighters for about the last hundred years. Because of the nanny state concept our call volume has approximately trippled just since I was hired. We respond to so many calls that no rational person would consider to be an emergency. This is Actual fire calls however are down. This is because newer structures are in general built more fire safe than older buildings, sprinkler systems and the almost universal use of smoke detectors.

So how has the department responded to these changing times? Because we consolidated with a couple other smaller communities we actually have a smaller number of fire stations and firefighters covering the city since I was hired. However they split us from two battalions into three so we have 50% more battalion chiefs. We have at least twice as many chief level positions at HQ, Fire Prevention, Communications and Training. And we have several times as many support staff. During the day there are litterally more support staff on duty than there are firefighters.

So now that the city is facing a budget shortfall... how do you suppose that it is proposed that we save money. Do you think cutting back support staff, eliminating high paid chief positions that we didn’t used to have and streamlining the administrative structure of the department might be one option... basically go back to how it used to be? Well that is not one of the options proposed... what has been proposed is eliminating all of the new guys and closing down a bunch of fire stations.

Since the junior guys don’t get paid as much... you have to get rid of more of them. None of the big dollar positions are going anywhere. The twisted logic is that the taxpayers won’t catch on... and when they see stations closed in their neighborhoods they will be willing to pay more taxes to keep them open.
