(CNN) -- George Zimmerman's wife was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly lying at his bond hearing about the couple's finances.

Shellie N. Zimmerman, 25, faces a perjury charge, according to Jackie Barnard, spokeswoman for the State Attorney's office for the Fourth Judicial District of Florida.

Shellie Zimmernan will be arraigned July 31, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. She met conditions for a $1,000 bond and was released Tuesday afternoon.

It’s legal for cops/the state, to lie to you, but illegal for you to lie to them. Go figure....

Never ever talk to cops, never answer their questions, show ID if you HAVE to, but that’s it.

What makes you think they did not tell their attorney? The original representation quit over the website and the legal defense fund. It was in the news and known prior to O’Mara’s taking up their case. It was also referenced by the judge in front of O’Mara in the hearing and if it was something O’Mara was unaware of he would have immediately objected and sought leave to confer with the client about something material of which he was unaware.

I used to be naive and believ differently, but have come around to your view now.

I do not trust them for even a millisecond.

Unless George and his wife decide to hang tough. After all the s***storm they’ve had to endure, I’ll bet they are willing to do just that. Hang tough, or you’ll both be financially screwed for life. I hope they understand that.

They will use the perjury charge as leverage to get Zimmerman to cop a plea on a minor charge in exchange for dropping the charge against the wife.

Proving perjury is not at all easy. First the false statement must be material and in this case, since Zimmerman didn't skip bail, it is immaterial.

The purpose of bail is to make it difficult for the defendant to skip town and not show up for a hearing. Had she lied or stretched the truth to get a lower bail and then they had skipped out of the country or failed to show for a hearing, then she could be held liable for perjury, but since Zimmerman surrendered immediately when his bail was revoked, there was no material misrepresentation. The state knows this. They are just playing games.

Wait until the judge finds out the truth and gets real pissed that he has been lied to.

The evil sadistic judge is in on the fix.

This entire case is tyrannical. What Corey, the judge, et al are doing is pure political persecution. It's a evil power lust.

I would get banned if I expressed what true justice would demand for the judge and Corey. This case is right out of Kafka.

All people of principle should be infuriated to their core over this blatant abuse of governmental power.

It’s pretty high-handed, I think.

Not sure why the prosecutor feels compelled to bring charges on this, other than she thinks she’s God.

Accused. Not convicted, disbarred and fined like William Jefferson Clinton. Hero of the left.

It’s a friggin’ lynching attempt!!! So she did not mention money that had come from the public to help with legal expenses? So WHAT??? That money was never intended to enrich the family and there is no evidence any of it was used for anything except legal expenses! Now if she went out and bought a brand-new car, that would be another matter, but nothing inappropriate happened!

This is all part of their effort to salvage something out of the whole PR scheme. They’ll hold the charges against his wife over his head and try to get him into a plea deal. Mark my words.

Change her name to “Eric Holder”.

"Seriously. Since when is it a crime to lie? What happened to ‘freedom of speech’?"

Seriously, talk to Scooter Libby. But, to answer your question, I think it's considered obstruction.

Here is a photo of Public Enemy No. 1. I am sure the prosecutor thinks that if
she can't get Zimmerman, then at least she can get his wife.

First the government incites a lynch mob, then they post pictures of the wife. Downright evil.

You have to wonder when Zimmerman's father (the judge) is going to start speaking out about what the hell is happening and/or when he is going to start stepping in and providing legal advice and making counter lawsuits.

I would expect that any missteps by the DA are going to come at a high career price.

This is becoming a comic opera of sorts. It will be interesting to see how things go, once everything gets to trial and a jury gets involved.
