In the new book, America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom, Daily Beast columnist Meghan McCain and comedian Michael Ian Black take a road trip across America and write about their experiences. The excerpt below is from their visit to New Orleans, and what happens after Meghan and Michael light up.

Let me put it right out there. Yes, I have smoked marijuana a few times in the past. The first time was on a trip to Amsterdam in college and I was surprised by how mild of an experience marijuana was (and in my experience still is). It is a plant that makes me mellow and giggly and, quite frankly, tired. Yet, depending on where you are in the United States, smoking is possession, and that is either a misdemeanor or a felony. Split that hair however you want, its still a crime.
That being said, I believe that marijuana should be legalized. This is not a decision I have come to quickly or lightly. Over the course of the last four years, in discussions with friends pro and con, I believe the legal ramifications of possessing marijuana are egregious. For one reason, I think it is a substance that does no more damage than alcohol does, and second, if we legalized marijuana in this country and taxed the hell out of it, our economic problems would at least be temporarily helped a great deal. In fact, you could even use the revenue stream to pay for universal health care if you wanted.
Mostly though, I do not completely understand the allure and taboo associated with marijuana. -SNIP-

And yet many believe she is conservative.
The last thing she needs is something that makes you stupider.
I’d rather have mary jane legalized than these damn bath salts that people are doing that are making people eat peoples faces off.
Maybe she’ll smoke some laced with bath salts and eat her own face off. :-D.
Wow, maybe she’s not so dumb after all.
LOL! Amen.
I'm all for legalization, and have no problem with anyone who wants to light up, but leave it to this dumbass to see tax revenue to pay for socialist programs in MJ legalization.
Did you miss the part where she wants to tax the hell out of it to pay for socialized healthcare?
Oh, all right, she's a moron.
Well, stoners, here’s another eloquent spokesperson for your favorite herb. Enjoy having this worthless twat supporting your cause.
See my Reply #12.
Has she ever been right about anything?
Jim Roth says yes to Megan McCain Shutting the F’ up!
I take it that she inhaled.
Huh? And I was thinking finally she got something correct.
While I am completely in favor of legalizing marijuana lets be honest about why she’s in favor of it.
It will increase her odds of getting laid by a factor of 100 at least. And I would have to be pretty baked to want to hit that.
Why is she still talking? Who the hell is letting her talk? Why is she allowed to speak in public? Who in their right mind wants her opinion on ANYTHING?
Of course. The only way she can get schtupped is if the guy is stoned.....
Looks like she’s had a serious case of the munchies for years.
Countdown to jokes about Meghan having the munchies...
She hasn’t supported this before?
Countdown to jokes about Meghan having the munchies...
No, that was probably pot PIE you heard her talking about talking about. Common mistake.
Indeed. Victoria Jackson did a very accurate impersonation of her-

THERE ARE NO WORDS...
27 years old and she still hasn’t accomplished anything meaningful in her life. A life wasted - so far. She still has time, but I’m not holding my breath.
Hell, in her case, it might make her smarter.
Almost anything would — including a freaking lobotomy!
People are sick of taxes! You can’t just make it legal and expect to tax it. People will just grow their own and not be prosecuted. More taxes is the WORST reason to legalize anything, they’ll count the expected increased revenue and spend it on some horrible social program before the first legal joint is rolled!
Why do we care what this woman thinks?
Exactly!
When I see the “regulate/tax it” argument, I realize that things are probably better off as is.
Who needs her when they’ve got William F. Buckley Jr.?
Sure you can!
California's medical marijuana program collects around $100M per year in taxes on sales of around $1B. Participants may legally grow their own under CA law, yet they're willing to pay $300/oz and more.
Doesn’t Meghan eat enough Twinkies WITHOUT smoking pot?
Why not get fedgov out of regulating intrastate drug policy and let each state decide whether it wants to tax and regulate?
Why does anyone pay any attention to this little moron? I know the left loves her because she essentially reenforces their policies, but she’s even more worthless than her RINO father.
True, very few taxes would be collected at first, and eventually, none.
Weed grows like weed, it isn't Scotch. As time passed whoever wasn't growing it or picking it from the vacant lots and from the side of the road, would be receiving it free from their friends, their kids, it would be everywhere.
If she had any redeaming qualities, we wouldn’t even know she existed. Because she is so messed up, the left loves to flaunt her stuff. She is too dim-whitted to realize she is nothing but the village idiot.
))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
You nailed it on with those questions. My first thought on reading the headline was, “How is her opinion relevant, on well, ANYTHING?” I guess it's just the Kardashian effect or the cult of celebrity. But she isn't even a celebrity. I don't get it at all. The janitor at my grand kids’ school has a more learned and erudite approach to the subject of legalizing marijuana than Meghan McCain. Are we nuts listening to this little twit?
As evidenced by the stupid stuff she says using Valley Girl language on a regular basis. Like, oh my God!
She doesn’t excite me, either, but give me a few (or more) tokes, and I’d “take one for the team”.
Dangit, I don’t want to be on the same side of an issue with this wench. Can’t she go back to campaigning for the homos?
Nah, she’s still dumb, and still in desperate need of an editor.
For example:
“Over the course of the last four years, in discussions with friends pro and con, I believe the legal ramifications of possessing marijuana are egregious.”
Firstly, she has to have discussions with friends for years to decide whether something is egregious? Clearly not a sign of a sharp thinker.
Secondly, the sentence is a grammatical nightmare. It should read:
“Over the course of the last four years, through discussions with friends, both pro and con, I came to believe that the legal ramifications of possessing marijuana were egregious.”
Hey Meg, if you read this, that first one was free. Have your mom toss me 100k a year, and I’ll proofread the rest of the crap you write.
