“bothersome”——not really. That’s a switch that just does not turn itself off right away. I’ve put more than my own share of buttheads on the ground and my motor will run at flank speed until someone shows up to pick up the slack. I have a tractor that will dig a hole 14 feet deep and in the case of catching a pedocreep in the act I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have settled down until the hole was covered up. Unless there were witnesses I might not have even called that one in. ——sleeping dogs lying and all that.

I’d buy him a beer (or drink of choice) and a parade.

One kick from a size 12 cowboy boot by an enraged father would make this a mercy killing. I sure hope that is the case.

If the kick is applied to the posterior, it might cause brain damage...At the very least...

I’m good with that as well...;-)

Texas Penal code does afford the use of deadly force to stop a person(s) from continuing their criminal act upon a minor (child)...

As a former Texas CCW owner, that is dead wrong. You are permitted to use deadly force to prevent bodily harm to any person as long as you have a reasonable belief that that person wanted or requested your help.

Sorry, getting old. I see now that you said it DOES allow force.

I’m having a hard time understanding the difference between what you’ve said and what Stevie said. These are some options that might explain your position:

1) Harm was already being done, so since it can’t be prevented, there’s no protection for the shooter.

2) The shooter could not have “reasonable belief” that the child wanted help to stop it.

3) ??

...up to the use of deadly force...

Other key words I forgot to paraphrase were “Reasonably determine that the use of force is necessary to stop the act...Something like that...

Bottom line...The concensus (I have heard and seen) is anyone caught actively sexually molesting a child is a deader...When you consider the cost savings of a trial, investigation, legal fees...etc etc etc...

The ones losing out are the trial lawyers...And I see no love loss for that ilk...

Most everyone I know who carries under the provisions of any states CCW law are folks who do practice good judgement, know to the best of their ability the laws in the use of force and deadly force, and apply them to their thought process every single time they strap on their firearms...

But, this guy (the father of the girl) used his bare hands!!! Last time I looked, you don’t need a permit for those...And if you ask me, why do we need a permit to carry a firearm for lawful self-defense anyway???

I guess the hoops we must jump through to exercise a Constitutional amd moral right to that means of self-defense got lost somewhere along the way...Vermont and Alaska seemed to have fixed that little detail...

We are making progress though...

Just my opinion...

I cannot help myself. I keep thinking about your comment made days ago and just have to ask you. What is it about those three lawmen that make them look conservative to you, please? As a lifelong Texan, I could not tell the difference between them being conservative or liberal? What was or were the defining factor/factors, please? I am so curious. Thank you in advance for your reply.

“Those 3 guys look like Conservatives, but looks alone can be deceiving.”

I kind of ‘covered’ myself on that comment, DS. From dealing with the public for 50+ years, in many business capacities, I can usually tell what a person’s leanings are, from “the cut of their jib”, male and female.

That said, I have been wrong on numerous occasions, but more right than wrong. After doing a little more research on DA Heather, I found that she’s not a good atty or DA, after all. But the 2 guys w/ mustaches do look Conservative: well-fed, guns on hips, mags on belt. The clean-shaven guy might be more moderate/liberal, like his DA boss. Initially, I’d be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

You are 100%, though. It’s a guess at best. If I could spend just 3-5 mins w/ each, I could make a definitive judgment about their politics. Until that opportunity, it’s just an “educated hunch”.

I kind of

Lavaca County authorities on Friday identified the 47-year-old man who was caught molesting a girl and then beaten to death by the child’s father.

Jesus Mora Flores was killed on the afternoon of June 9 on a rural farm pasture on County Road 302 between Shiner and Yoakum.

In a press release issued Friday, authorities said Flores was attempting to sexually assault the girl, whose age was corrected by officials Friday to be 5 years old.

“When emergency medical personnel arrived, Jesus Mora Flores’ pants and underwear were down and the man’s genitals were exposed,” said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon, who was quoted in a press released issued by District Attorney Heather McMinn.

Flores had been hired by the child’s father to care for horses on the property, according to a neighbor.

A public records search shows no permanent address for Flores in Lavaca County.

The press release also confirms that law enforcement officials discovered a witness to the attacks, but does not identify that person.

Investigators found that “a witness observed Jesus Mora Flores forcibly carrying a 5-year-old child off to a secluded area, the witness ran for help and alerted the child’s father.”

The father then heard the child’s scream and ran to help her, the release said. The father then “immediately removed Jesus Mora Flores from on top of his child” and inflicted “several blows” to the man’s head and neck area.

The release stated that all of the physical evidence and witness statements in the case corroborated the father’s statement.

Harmon said Flores was not in the United States illegally and possessed a permanent resident card - more widely known as a green card.

The sheriff said his office has been working with Mexican Consulate officials to locate Flores’ family.

Complete results of the autopsy conducted in Travis County are not expected for several weeks.

Harmon said the girl’s family and father have cooperated with authorities.

McMinn said in the press release that Harmon “made the right decision in not arresting the father at the time of the incident.”

The girl’s father remains remorseful about Flores’ death, said Harmon, who said he expects a grand jury to hear the case next week.

“This case has been very traumatizing on the child, her father and his entire family,” he said.

Thank yo so much for your reply. I am disappointed to hear the DA is sadly lacking. Esp in this case, I was hoping otherwise. Though I do understand the need to let the grand jury no bill the father. And that is the outcome for which I am hoping. I have a feeling you are an excellent judge of character and am rearranging my “jib” as we speak. (I am going to look the work up shortly, then share with my 9 year old grandson. I teach him a new vocabulary word every weekend. Thank you for this one.) Be well.
