During his first 18 months as governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney spent considerable time hammering out a sweeping climate change plan to reduce the state's greenhouse gas emissions...
Before doing an about-face toward the end of his term as he began to prepare for his first run for president, Romney pushed to close coal-fired plants, encourage the development of renewable energy and contain sprawl - steps similar to some President Obama has taken. Indeed, one of Romney's top environmental staffers, Gina McCarthy, now runs the air pollution unit of the EPA under Obama. John Holdren, a scientist Romney turned to on at least one occasion to discuss climate change, is the White House senior advisor on science and technology issues.
Romney's gubernatorial record on energy and the environment has little in common with the positions he has staked out in the presidential race, those who knew him in Massachusetts say...

This is just another attempt by the media to help 0bama by trying to drive a wedge between Romney and the GOP base.
I don’t care what he did as governor of the People’s Republic of Mass. as long as he doesn’t do it again.
Romney turned to John Holdren on at least one occasion to discuss “climate change”
On AT LEAST one occasion!?... (CAPS for emphasis only).
It would be interesting to know exactly how many times he turned to that radical John Holdren for advice, and what policies/issues pertaining to “climate change” were discussed...
Who would be surprised by this?
He has said he believes in man made global warming.
I’m so glad that we have a candidate who understands the need to fight this pressing and dangerous problem!
Romney drove that wedge himself by being a phony.
If Romney didn’t want things like this to be discussed, he shouldn’t have been and still be a RINO.
And your Red Herring post is noted as being that - a Red Herring.
John Holdren? That radical?
Romney is and has been and will be a RINO.
He himself has staked out positions that he has flip-flopped on - and many at that. Too many to count in fact.
Romney: Mr. AGW
Exactly! Forget about all that bogus nonsense about his record and stuff. We need some hope and change, Romney style! Mmmm mmmm mmmm!
Romney is liberal now as he has always been, it must take great faith to beleive he will change his stripes just to make you feel comfortable about voting for him.
Rommey’s governorship was before the Climategate email leaks and the well-document problems with the IPCC reports.
So I would not be bothered that Romney at one time thought global warming was an important issue requiring government action. The real question is: What does he think POST-Climategate? (Same issue with Newt during the primaries.)
His buddy Rick Snyder here in Michigan is also a big greentard who gets off looking at pictures of windmills and talking about Michigan’s future in green technology.
It simply doesn’t matter at this point. He’s all we’ve got to beat obammy with...unless someone else comes on the scene, which I doubt, we have to vote for him.
It drives me crazy, and will be very hard for me to pull that lever for him, but it is what it is.
I keep asking what the difference is between Obama and Romney and have yet to get a straight answer. I will only vote for Romney because I hate Obama so much. But the thought of having to vote for Romney turns my stomach.
Worst possible case, Mitt Romney is educable and Bork obunga is not, and that is the choice.
1. Romney has a birth certificate and it's from the United States and not Kenya. 2. Romney has a father that was NOT a communist. 3. Romney is a Natural Born Citizen 4. Romney is and AMERICAN in his heart 5. There is no chance that Romney might actually be a MUSLIM 6. Romney has actually had a real job in the private sector. 7. Romney has never claimed to be born in KENYA and raised in Indonesia.
These are just some of the obvious answers. Now for some that you might need to think about would be SCOTUS appointments. The signing of a repeal of Obamacare. More abortions or less abortions. and on and on.
Say it again! Over and Over.
Say it again! Over and Over.
We tried this with Wendell Willkie ~ ran a Democrat against Roosevelt. He was even a smart little booger, and really knew business. Didn't work. FDR smashed him like a squirrel on a road.
That was before the AGW movement was outed as a fraud by the revealing of the conspiratory e-mails. A lot of intelligent people believed that it was settled science, until it was proven not to be.
As a “Pro-family” Republican Candidate: by his undeniable record fully documented below, Mitt Romney:
- created RomneyCare which is terribly similar to ObamaCare but even worse for it openly funds abortion
- put Planned Parenthood on the so-called “independent” board he created that offers $50 co-pay abortions
- thereby instituted tax-funded abortion on demand two years after his orchestrated “pro-life” conversion
- as late as summer 2011 continues to defend aborting tens of thousands of kids (denying their God-given right to life)
- supported destructive embryonic research after his false 2004 pro-life conversion
- put a pro-abortion Democratic judge on the bench after Romney had claimed a pro-life conversion
- fabricates a claim that a court ordered him to institute same-sex marriage, a travesty he committed on his own
- single-handedly instituted same-sex marriage and later fabricated a claim that a court ordered him to do so
- bragged that he would continue to defend abortion “rights” after he claimed a pro-life conversion
- denies responsibility for the 10-member board that funds abortion even though his executive branch filled 7 seats
- pro-choice in ‘94; pro-life in ‘01; choice ‘02; pro-life ‘04; choice ‘05; life in ‘06; then funded abortion in ‘06
Pro-life Profiles predicted with the publication of this profile that even though Romney enjoyed support in 2008 from many pro-family groups, hopefully that with his recent and aggressive pro-abortion record now fully documented, he will not regain their endorsements. For if God’s people lead, the leaders will follow.
Change of Heart? Preparing to begin his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2005, Mitt Romney orchestrated a demonstrably false 2004 pro-life conversion1 2. Romney must have expected that leading conservative media outlets, groups, authors, and talk show hosts (like Sean Hannity and Hugh Hewitt) would ignore, deny, or even defend his subsequent pro-abortion efforts. Romney’s support for dismembering unborn children proves that his “conversion” was a political deception devised to steal pro-life votes. So putting Planned Parenthood on the state board that he created which authorized even late-term tax-funded abortion on demand, a crime against humanity far beyond anything the Clintons or Barack Obama have been able to accomplish, is brushed aside by untrustworthy “pro-life” conservative leaders.
Authorizing Tax-Funded Abortion: On April 12, 2006 Romney signed3 Massachusetts’ government health care plan4 that from the start has provided taxpayer funds even for what are called “elective” abortions, killing unborn children without even the facade of the typical though invalid medical excuses common in tax-funded abortion laws. Romney’s government-run health care plan5 predated Barack Obama’s health care reform and according to the government of Massachusetts, “All Commonwealth Care health plans include abortion.”6
I consider mormonism almost as bad as islam.
Mitt Romney’s Mexican Roots; His Father Was Born In Mexico, Could Choose Dual Citizenship
According to “The Forgotten Man”, Willkie lost to FDR because Willkie ran the 1936 campaign and not the “war campaign” of 1940.
Hey, I asked you nicely not to post my picture. ;-)
George Romney was born in Mexico to TWO American citizens.
MR’s grandparents did not surrender their US citizenship.
This issue was settled when George ran for president against Goldwater.
Obama will veto ANY attempt to repeal Obamacare.
Romney may have changed his mind on many things but Obama has not and will not surrender even one step of his Marxist agenda.
Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat. He would be considered a flip flopper by many on this forum.
All inconsequential. ORomney doesn’t have Americas interest at heart. Like every other politician its all about him all the time. His only ‘draw’ is he’s not quite the narcissist Barry is. Looking at his record as a public official is enlightening. He’s a RINO by any measure. RINO being code for liberal. He’ll crap all over this country yet not so overtly like Barry and Clinton did. Crap he will though. Yet, he seems to be the despot of choice over here. That seems to make it all OK.
Holdren is a leftist nutcase, but he was also a Harvard professor and is one of the most highly-regarded and well-credentialed experts in the world on the subject of global warming.
I think the correct amount of money to spend avoiding CO2 emissions is exactly zero, but if I was Governor of MA in 2003 and I was making decisions regarding how to deal with this issue I would gladly talk to Holdren. I'd also want to talk to Richard Lindzen at MIT, but I'd talk to Holdren too.
It is foolish not to try to learn from the experts.
I don’t care if Romney and his parents were born on Mars. I can’t stand him and am only voting for him because I hate Obama more, not because I think he will be good for America.
It is foolish not to try to learn from the experts.
Excuse me, but how can "a leftist nutcase" be considered an "expert"? A "highly-regarded" and "well-credentialed" nutcase on AGW remains, at bottom, a nutcase.
Sorry, I thought you were trying to make an issue out of an issue that had already been settled.
I am not voting for Romney, I do not hate him, I do not know anything about him beyond his political record which is liberal.
Obama voters: "Hope and change."
Romney ABOers: "Hope he'll change."
If Romney wins, in 2014, as conservative ABOers watch helplessly as Romney and moderate Republicans join with Democrats to advance the global warming agenda, advance nationalized health care, and grow government bigger and bigger, some of us would feel like asking the ABOers:
"So, how's that hope-he'll-change thingy working out for ya?"
What's really sad is reading the posts of hopeful, trusting ABOers who opine that Romney wouldn't ignore conservative Republicans because he wouldn't want to jeopardize his re-election in 2016. LOL -- the only criteria for a Republican candidate, as ABOers would have proven solidly, is for the candidate to be "Anybody But _______" (put the name of the Democrat nightmare du jour in the blank).
To quote a beloved, respected, but temporarily hysterical pundit, Republicans would "vote for an orange juice can" before they'd vote for __________ (Democrat nightmare TBA). The last thing Romney would be worried about would be his re-election. Those who pin their hopes on primary-ing him out if he confirms the corrupt character he demonstrated as governor of Massachusetts, would be sadly and rudely surprised.
Romney is bad news for everybody. I pray for a miracle that will vanquish him and raise up a limited government Republican in his stead.
Either that, or great desperation. Faith -- in God -- leads to good decisions. Desperation usually leads to bad ones.
Yours is a profoundly stupid and ignorant question.
Holdren has degrees from MIT and Stanford and has been a Professor at Cal and Harvard. He has published widely and is often cited.
He has received numerous prestigious awards and is a member of all of the relevant professional societies.
This is the very definition of an expert.
Yet, he's a nutcase.
You describe him as an "expert" on anthropomorphic global warming. Is that not akin to being an expert on the Ouija Board?
Is Paul Ehrlich an "expert", too?
You think that you are being noble but in fact you are being retarded.
Have you ever noticed that there are more conservatives than leftists in America, and yet the leftists seem to exert a preponderance of the political and economic power?
Have you ever wondered why this is?
I’ll tell you why it is.
It is because of people like you who think that a giant nasty attitude is a perfect substitute for intelligence, education, and reason.
So why don’t you get off your duff and start doing some work around here?
So why dont you get off your duff and start doing some work around here?
Such vitriol. Who peed in your corn flakes?
Why does my contention that John Holdren is something less than an "expert" such a sensitive subject? You yourself referred to him as a "nutcase" -- a label we can agree upon.
Hint: People of "intelligence, education and reason" don't believe in -- or defend -- a hoax.
You want to have your own definition of words.
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean neither more nor less.'
As, in your own words, "nutcase" = "expert".
You are failing to apply simple logic to straightforward ideas.
You implicitly claim that a person cannot be both an expert and a nutcase.
Those of us who are intelligent and well-educated know that the occurrence of both qualities in the same person is so commonplace as to be a cliche.
Y'know, arrogance is a very unattractive character trait.
Obviously, I've wasted your valuable time. And mine.
Obama voters: "Hope and change."
Romney ABOers: "Hope he'll change."
What I remember of Romney’s terms as Governor was that he had to work with a overwhelmingly Democrat State Senate and House. Yes, he signed the Massachusetts Dem-care into law, but the bill would have been even more liberal if he hadn’t made some compromises elsewhere, so the Dems would compromise,if only, as Dems do, just a smidge. So, I am sure there were many more compromises he had to make, as there are so few elected GOP in Massachusetts State Congress. It was amazing that Mass had a GOP Governor to balance out the Dem State Congress.
“This is just another attempt by the media to help 0bama by trying to drive a wedge between Romney and the GOP base.”
So what if it is? It’s still a valid concern for the GOP base.
“1. Romney has a birth certificate and it’s from the United States and not Kenya. 2. Romney has a father that was NOT a communist. 3. Romney is a Natural Born Citizen 4. Romney is and AMERICAN in his heart 5. There is no chance that Romney might actually be a MUSLIM 6. Romney has actually had a real job in the private sector. 7. Romney has never claimed to be born in KENYA and raised in Indonesia.”
Sorry but aside from the birther points... you’ve got nothing substantial. If you look at the REAL ISSUES you’ll see very little difference between the two.
Both have a solid history of abortions, tax increases, gay marriage, liberal judicial appointments, belief in global warming, gun control and of course SOCIALIZED HEALTHCARE!
How much more substantial can you get? Barack Obama is a Communist that is hell bent on destroying our country.
I don't give a crap what Mitt did in Mass. It's what Mitt will do or more importantly what he will not do as president. Mitt Romney is NOT out to destroy this country.
We must get rid of Obama. It's looking very scary right now as Mitt does not seem like he is willing to take the gloves off. He could lose this thing and then we are going to be doomed VERY quickly.
