Issa: 31 Democrats Will Vote To Condemn Holder
Buzzfeed ^ | Jun 11, 2012 | Zeke Miller

Posted on 06/13/2012 3:28:10 PM PDT by kingattax

House Committee and Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa told BuzzFeed today that he expects 31 Democrats will join Congressional Republicans in finding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over documents relating to a botched gun-running investigation.

Issa, who has risen to national prominence as the point of the Republican spear in investigating alleged Obama administration wrongdoing, called for a committee vote on contempt next week in advance of a full House vote on Holder's conduct in the so-called "Fast and Furious" operation, in which a federal agent was allegedly killed with a gun the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms allowed to be trafficked.

"The real question is, we’re opening up the data that we have to all the members, so as they start reading specifics of what we know was known and was hidden from Congress, and what we’d like to know and been denied, how many of the Democrats will vote with us," Issa said after speaking at the Personal Democracy Forum in New York. "I expect we’ll have about 31 Democrats with us." Issa said under normal circumstances he'd expect the vote to pressure Holder to turn over the documents, but that now he's hoping the president intercedes on Congress' behalf.

"After Thursday’s hearing with the Attorney General, no, I don’t expect it, but I would hope that the president would second-guess the man that he says he has full faith and confidence in, and tell him that it’s time to deliver reasonable documents," Issa said.

Issa compared the growing scandal to Iran Contra and Watergate, saying the cover-up is far worse than the "dumb" operation. "This is like Iran Contra, like Watergate, and other embarrassments over the years," Issa said. "The major embarrassment is the delay in being honest and open about it. It’s not about something really dumb got done. Dumb things happen in government. But when the GSA did dumb things, once it became public we saw a pretty quick change, certainly Secret Service we saw an even quicker change."

Asked whether his committee would hold hearings to investigate White House leaks, Issa said that while he has jurisdiction to investigate, his committee currently has no plans to. "We have a very busy schedule, and we will coordinate with the other committees [to investigate]," he said, noting that the House and Senate intelligence committees would likely take the lead

I heard that they think he’ll produce some docs rat the last minute but it shouldn’t excuse the fact that he has not produced what was asked for in 18 months.

Yup. He will throw a few more (nothing big) at them just to stop the contempt talk.

IF they had any sense or even honor they would NOT be democrats..
Expecting sound logic from a democrat is flawed thinking..

Any that do... need to be watched as closely as any democrat..
They are delusional..

“relating to a botched gun-running investigation...”

This was not botched! They did exactly what they intended to do! They just got caught!

Enough republicans will vote for holder to keep him above the law and secure in his treason.

Remember, when Clinton’s hit-man Livingtone mentioned to Kathleen Willey (after sex allegations) about her missing cat? Methinks Obamagoons don’t stop with family pets...

We are not interested. Holder is doing a fine job, just like Franklin Raines.

"Holder is Obama’s cover. F&F was Obama’s plan. Holder executed the plan. Holder will be throwing Obama under the bus, not vice versa."

I wonder why Holder brought up the term constitutional crisis three times during a Senate Judiciary hearing a couple of days ago?

"Let's Make a Deal" plea to Congress, or a message to Bamster that he knows where all of the life narrative bodies are buried?

Probably both. Holder is sitting in the middle and is holding all the pertinent cards.

Yes, the actual act in this case makes the entire Watergate scandal, coverup and all, look like flatulence in a hurricane. This compares to Watergate as the Mississippi river compares to the little creek I used to jump across when I was sixteen. Those who say things like, “As bad as Watergate” are only showing their total ignorance.

Don’t forget. He was also the Pardons Attorney who was hip-deep in Mark Rich, Susan MacDougall, et al, at the end of Slick Willy’s Reign of Error.

Yep, expecting sound logic from a democrat is like expecting a Jaybird to sing Some Enchanted Evening.

That’s 31 more than was expected. Not that they’re ever going to have to back up their words so it’s meaningless.
