If he didn’t eat them, I can agree with assassinating. If he didn’t want to eat them he should have followed the 3 S doctrine. Shoot shovel and shut up.

I’ve no problem with shooting squirrels; but hanging them from a fence, in a residential area isn’t right

You could shoot them with hollow points so they would get on the fence in one step.

It’s a message to the survivors!

Kind of like we used to do with criminals before we got over-civilized. ;-)

So? When the groundhogs were getting too brazen (climbing the plum tree, sending the babies through the garden fence to bring out the tomatoes) I put a road-kill squirrel in their hole.

This is Jersey.

They got the message.

The last time I did I caught a skunk

I had the same experience with the same outcome. Threw a plastic tarp over the trap and very carefully opened it from an awkward position.Felt like I was defusing a bomb

The problem is, it’s also a message to anti-hunting types. Young children really like squirrels — any that saw that display would be upset. If the kids are upset, so are their mothers. Next thing you know, you’re brought up on animal cruelty charges. IMHO, the guy was asking for it.

It ain’t cruelty to hang a squirrel on a fence after them squirrels be dead.

I agree it’s not cruelty, and I don’t disagree with his dislike of squirrels. In my state it is hunting out of season, and if not having a hunting license, it gets worse

Well, if you bite into peanut inside of one of them, I gave it to him.

I hope he did it with a little style, Mini Hangman’s noose would be pretty original.

Most normal people who haven’t had squirrels move into the attic, or had them chew up boat upholstery, like squirrels, you mean.

Kinda like a liberal is a person who hasn’t been mugged.

It's people like you that interfere with nature that cause problems which lead to people like me eating them.

Leave them alone. Don't feed them, don't make pets out of them.

And in some parts of the world... squirrel is food. Here, for example.

Well, I probably wouldn’t like those particular squirrels- but I like squirrels in general. There was a story about a monorail conductor at Disney World who refused to run over a squirrel on the track. And if I’m in the park and see a dog sneaking up on a squirrel, I always warn the squirrel. I like squirrels!

Oh my! The memory that brings! Years ago mountain boomers chewed into our attic and down through the celing. I got up one morning to find one sitting on the VCR in the living room. My husband opened the front door and tried to shoo him out, but instead, he ran toward me standing there in my long bath robe. I think he couldn’t figure out why this “tree” was jumping up and down.
