Joan Rivers Slams Entire Political System, Deems Obama, Romney ‘Both Idiots’
Mediaite ^ | June 13th, 2012 | Meenal Vamburkar

Joan Rivers, who recently penned I Hate Everyone…Starting With Me, doesn’t generally veer into political territory, but made an exception in a CNN interview that aired Wednesday — affirming that she does, indeed, hate everyone. Asked about her thoughts about the two presidential candidates, Rivers expressed a cynical outlook, deeming both President Obama and Mitt Romney “idiots.”

Responding to a question about how she feels about the two, Rivers promptly replied, “Both idiots.” She went on to elaborate on her blunt sentiments. “The country is in serious trouble,” she said — and the eternal campaign that is the American political arena is harmful for the country.

“How dare you spend two years campaigning,” Rivers said, suggesting we take a hint from across the pond. “They should do what England does. Six weeks to find out what everyone thinks before they vote for them for Parliament. That makes sense.”

Two years? Rivers continued, “First of all, the president: get into the White House and do your goddamn duty. And Mitt Romney. Two years you all hate each other, and now you’re all going to come together and say, ‘But we really love him?’”

Although I don’t agree with JR on much, I’m having a tough time disputing her judgment on *this* question.

I’ll point this out. Thanks to MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, and Fox....you know over sixty political figures by name and face. In 1969...you might have been able to recognize your governor, the President, and maybe one senator.

You have neighbors now who watch ten hours of C-SPAN a day, and want to debrief you each weekend over various national topics.

You have actors, comedians and singers who want you to personally know that they really are very political in nature....then they wonder why they lose fifty percent of their audience over the next year.

Finally, we start to find high school unions to be political chat sessions. We start to find church to be filled with political topic episodes. And we start to even have our dentist chat on political topics....at the most inopportune time.

There’s something wrong here, but you really can’t fix it.

We used to watch her every friday night (”Fashion Police”)
without fail. We overlooked her intermittent pornographic humor and that took some effort.

She lost us as soon as she made fun of Jesus.

We don’t even say her name in our house any more.

She talks like a pig.

We’re going to hear a LOT of people saying some form of “they’re both bad” in the next 5 months. This will be their excuse for voting for the Zero.

I like her also.
I’ve watched her reality show a few times and she makes as much fun of herself as anyone.
She is err...outspoken.

I can criticize Romney for a slew of things, but he is far from an idiot, and Rivers is showing her ignorance in this commentary. Although at times she has been included on list of Hollywood Republicans, I just think she is yet another clueless out of touch wealthy Hollywood elitist. She has no clue how a typical American citizen is faring in the economy...now or 6 years ago when we were doing quite well in the Bush era and all of Hollywood deemed the economy bad.

Like so many others, Rivers needs to STFU.

Was that after Johnny Carson played the practical joke where Joan thought she was being chewed out by Margaret Thatcher for making fun of the Royal Family?

IIRC she never forgave him for that. The actress who depicted Mrs. Thatcher had Joanie totally freaked out.

Don't care much for Joan Rivers, but she sure nailed it on this one. We are in deep trouble, and no statesman exists with the proper value system to lead us out of trouble. Only the consequences remain.

“Her second marriage was on July 15, 1965[38] to Edgar Rosenberg, who committed suicide in 1987.”

From Wikipedia. I have a problem taking people seriously that drive their spouses to suicide.

She is indeed outspoken.
She puts everybody down, including herself.
Most condemn her for her plastic surgery, but she makes no bones about it. She admits it. She jokes about it.
If she choses to not be wrinked and saggy, then more power to her.
I think she is very attractive to be in her late 70’s!
I adore her!

Get a grip. I don’t like her much, either, but she’s a comedian, and a Jew. As Jew, she won’t be worshipping Jesus. As a comedian she makes fun. It’s how comedians get paid.

I don’t agree that they are both idiots, but they both act like idiots from time to time, mostly at all the wrong times.

Well, if you get the meaning of my original post, the one on which you commented, you understand my response.

My family are the ones who rejected her, not I.

Kids won’t suffer mockery of their religion. They switch the channel.

Rivers can say whatever she wants, it’s still a free country, though you CAN bet she wont be making fun of islam, and that’s fine.

I still get to comment on her.

IT’s something called “loyalty” and “respect” for those who helped you in the business.

She decided to pull a fast one on him and compete with him.

He never spoke to her, or responded to her calls ever again.. in his entire life.

Bottom line, don’t screw over a Scorpio or they’re never forget it.

The PBS doc on him last month gave a pretty clear picture of the man. On the whole a very wealthy but lonely man in his later years who refussed to stop smoking. I think he was probably on a respirator towards the end.

It’s a rough business. I miss him.

Joan Rivers is?..Well let’s say I would never want to be roasted by her....She makes Don Rickles look like amateur.

Joan rolled the dice and loss. All she had to do was show some respect to the man.
