What did everyone think of it.
Who shot J.R.?
Should have killed him off so the show could die.
I didn’t watch the ‘old’ Dallas, so there was no reason for me to watch this one........or was it just a dream?..............
It was sorta fun.
News/Activism ?
If they’d changed the name to ‘Debbie Does Dallas’ I might have watched..........
Didn’t see it, nor hear anything really about it, but let me just GUESS what the plot is!?
JR is running a fracking operation and intentionally poisoning the water supply.
Cliff goes to Bobby and together they fight JR to save the community from the typical evil Texas oilman.
The evil oilman also treats women badly, and the good oilman would rather ride his horse and appreciate the clean air than make money.
Did I get it right?
Nice try...but not a patch to the old one.
My comments are in a prior thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2894981/posts
I enjoyed it. Wasn’t the best, but once JR got more on-screen time it got better. I’m going to keep on watching. They did do a good job of contrasting Bobby and JR, more so from what I remember of the original show. JR’s infamous scowl though was priceless. Cliff Barnes shows up next week so curious to see how that goes.
JR still the bastard he always was. John Ross Jr a. Hip off the old block. She Ellen looks the same (amazingly good) What happened to Pam?
Lol I liked it just not sure I want to make it part of my already silly tv watching
Oops, wrong show...

You’ve got the gist of it....Money bad....green energy good!!!
Your about 10% right.
People here in Dallas were watching the Rangers.
Water well drilling rig?
Bwahahahahahaha......
This one won’t last long with that attitude.
Sheesh..
It was okay. 4.5 on a scale of 1 - 10. Some of the acting wasn’t very good.
The fellow who played John Ross should buy an acting lesson, not that there’s much hope of improvement.
To improve the series, John Ross should get into a very serious, fiery car accident that burns his face badly. The character should spend a couple of episodes in the hospital with his face completely obscured by bandages. Once all the plastic surgeons are done with him, they can take off the bandages, and when revealed, John Ross will look nothing like he did before the accident, as a new actor will be playing John Ross from that point on. One that can act.
I didn’t think of it at all because I watched better shows on USA Network.
Dallas and if so what did you think? Gadzooks, You caught me...
watching it!
While I am working to drown out...
the image of J.R. in a towel, about Dallas, I can only say that I am glad it is 56 miles north of me--
Admit it, Bendy-- Even here in Spain...
we know you love that kind of all out Texas drinkin' & whorin' kind'a action.
Well, when you put it that way...
how can I object?
Victoria Principle has an open invitation to return but has so far declined!!!
Nuts...I forgot about it....was going to watch it ....wonder if it’s going to be replayed? I’ll DVR it...
Over at
they thought it was tainted by environmental pseudo-science
What’s a “new” Dallas? Did they re-create the city elsewhere? < /cluelessness >
The only reason(s) I ever watched the original.....
How good could it be when they purposely kept the creator off of this one?
I’d love to see them incorporate modern techniques in the show. 4-D seismic maps, etc. Cause it is really high tech these days.
Did I get it right?
Nope.
Actually the show made the alternative energy approach of methane taken from the water as a villain in the pilot, as it is possibly the cause of an earthquake in Japan.
i liked what I saw (couldn’t stay awake for the whole thing) and it looks like the penchant for the hot women from the original is intact. I also liked the story line of the girl who was with Jon Ross first after being Bobby’s girlfriend and how the breakup occurred. It looks very promising to me.
It will probably be on the TNT website, too.

I enjoyed it — once JR woke up out of his depression. New blood. New scheming. New backstabbing. When he saw John Ross kissing the women he schemed with, that was funny. JR will get even. Then, he finds out she wasn’t even the ‘she’ she was supposed to be.
I was a big fan of the original and I have to admit that last night’s premier was a lot better than the reviews. It beats the rest of the summer replacement garbage on the major networks. I found it entertaining and it was good to see the old gang back.
Ah! So more accurate than usual!
I never watched the show when it was first on- I worked in a Supermarket, and when I came in Saturday morning, the cashier and Manager's wife would yak about the previous night's show- it could all be summed up as, "That JR's a real snake in the grass".
I thought about it too late, but know it will be repeated.
I was kinda rooting for it for sentimental reasons which is odd because, although I live in Dallas, I never watched a single episode of the original series.
I must have been doing something else, but I can’t imagine what.
That was an interesting Ranger game. Opposing pitcher unhittable, only allows 3 hits.
Harrison good also.
Wash plays old-time ball. Man gets on first, next guy bunts him to second and next guy hits a single.
Rangers win one to nothing.
I am a DIEHARD Washington Redskins fan. There is no way I would EVER watch anything with Dallas in its title.
I give it a 1.
It also sets off the left wing B-S-o-meter.
If I wanted a light weight anti-palin actress I could watch PBS, CNN, or MSNBC.
First rule of successful drama series, fire the liberal writer.
I hope it suffers the same fate as GCB.
It was alright, but just cause of the old timers. I did love the fact that the intro still used the same music and cheesy lettering from back in the day.
First I have to know what CGB is/ was.
Watched the Rangers beat the Diamondbacks 1 - 0 at the Rangers Ballpark at Arlington instead.
BTW, Charlene Tilton looked AWFUL! And Kanaly looked really old too. Funny how Bobby was the only one who looked like he did in the original (Sue Ellen’s plastic surgery was pretty apparent). I guess its too much to hope for Afton Cooper to show up . . .
Sounds good to me. I was a die-hard Dallas fan way back...
10 minutes was all I could stand...I shut it off
“Lucy” showed up with her “Uncle Ray Krebbs”. That’s the uncle she played around in the hayloft with in the very first episode.
Remember that when the original “Dallas” was on there was no such thing as “HDTV”. So now when we see TV “Stars” we see them warts and all(no place to hide).
I fell asleep.
Rating of 6.5? Yep, I can live with that.
