Pelosis wealth declined 25 percent in 2011 By Kevin Bogardus - 06/14/12 10:45 AM ET
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) lost nearly a quarter of her wealth in the past year, according to a financial disclosure report released Thursday.
Pelosis minimum net worth dropped by roughly $8.8 million in 2011, the report suggests. It valued Pelosis wealth as at least $26.4 million at the end of the 2011 calendar year, down from at least $35.2 million the previous year.
Pelosi reported almost $39.3 million in assets as well as close to $12.9 million in liabilities for 2011, according to the report. Her drop in wealth can be partly attributed in her rise in liabilities last year. For 2010, Pelosi reported about $8.3 million in liabilities.
Pelosi is among the richest members of Congress, and ranked 12th on The Hills 2011 list of wealthiest members.
Much of Pelosis wealth is wrapped up in investments in real estate and stock held by her husband Paul.
Pelosi jointly owns a vineyard in St. Helena, Calif. with her husband that is worth at least $5 million. The lawmakers spouse also owns by himself a commercial property in San Francisco valued at least $5 million and a four-story commercial building in the same city worth at least $1 million.
Paul Pelosi also has at least $1 million in Apple common stock as well as another $1 million in a partnership investment for a Tiburon, Calif. restaurant company. He also has some interests in the United Football League specifically in Jacksonville, Fla. and Sacramento, Calif. ranging from at least $1 million to $5 million in value.
Pelosis liabilities include several mortgages on properties, including the St. Helena, Calif. vineyard valued at at least $1 million.
Despite the drop in wealth, Pelosi is likely to remain among the wealthiest members of Congress.
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) also showed a drop in his minimum net worth of about 14 percent. Boehners minimum dropped from $2.1 million in 2010 to $1.8 million in 2011, according to his financial disclosure report released Thursday.
Boehners assets include a pension plan from the state of Ohio worth at least $50,000, and several investment funds, also valued at at least $50,000 each.
Like the prior year, the Ohio Republican reported no liabilities in 2011.
Lawmakers financial disclosure reports were released Thursday. The reports can give a good estimate of their wealth, though exact figures for assets and liabilities are not reported. Instead, the forms list a range of values.
The Hill uses the lowest number in each value range to come up with a lawmakers minimum net worth. The sum of a lawmakers liabilities is subtracted from the sum of their assets, giving a conservative estimate for their wealth.

Down to her last $26 mil. How will she make it?
That’s a start.
But, since the private sector is doing fine, she’ll be back up to speed by the end of this recovery summer.
SOMEONE isn’t paying her Fair Share!
Hasn’t her wealth grown by some 2600% during her time in congress?
She should hav “READ” the bill before she voted for it, yes I’m very sorry, VERY, for feeling her pain in her ASS!!!
But she does not need any of it when she goes camping out in GITMO for treason!!!
She still ain’t gonna miss any meals.
Except the ones she wants to.
26 mil covers a lot of latitude. She still has options unavailable to the vast majority of us.
The pelosi’s invested on Visa so I find it difficult to believe these 2 POS’s only have that much money. They are hiding their dough somewhere.
She probably qualifies for food stamps and a free cell phone.
Being minority leader doesn’t pay so well, does it?
Plus she has to fly commercial home every weekend on commercial, and they don’t stock first class with her favorite candy and wine
Dang... it’s the war on wymen
Anybody know the name of Pelosi’s vineyard? I want to make sure I don’t buy the bitch’s wine.
Indeed. Has the former Madam Speaker made any trips to Switzerland lately?
Only 25% How come everybody else’s net worth is down 40%, according to yesterday’s news?
Pelosi is the sole owner of Zinfandel Lane Vineyard in St. Helena and Skellenger Lane Vineyard in Napa. She also has shares in Ernest and Julio Gallo (which is one of the biggest operations in the valley). Although she’s not the majority owner.
I call that a good start, but I’m rooting for a lot more, all in fact.
The Cayman’s are closer.
She can keep all her liabilities.
I actually think I may have some Skellenger at home. I’ll have to check next time I’m in the lower 48.
