Nixon Emerges a Victor in ‘War on History’ Waged in the Wake of Watergate
New York Sun ^ | June 14, 2012 | By CONRAD BLACK

Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (Woodstein for our purposes) now claim, in a Washington Post piece, that President Nixon was “far worse than we thought,” and accuse him of conducting five “wars”: against the anti-war movement, on the media, against the Democrats, on justice, and on history. In evaluating such a volcanic farrago of pent-up charges, the facts must be arrayed in three tiers: the facts of Woodstein’s activities and revelations; the facts of the Watergate case and related controversies; and the importance of Watergate in an appreciation of the Nixon record.

I don't think you understand me. Nixon WANTED abortion. Read NSSM 200, authored by Henry Kissinger at Nixon's direction: "abortion is vital", according to those ghouls.

As lagniappe, this "conservative" president gave us wage and price controls. Some conservative.

Nixon: killed dollar-gold convertibility, instituted price and wage controls, launched the EPA and OSHA, and opened up China. He did a lot of damage in office. Was he the criminal he’s been painted to be? Most likely not.

The lefties have to engage in revisionist history in their laughable attempt to prop Obama up and keep him from being rated the worst President ever.

But it won’t work.

Obama makes Nixon look like a babe in the woods.

Helms put McCord, Hunt, Sturgis and pissed-off Cubans on Watergate.

Nixon sent Helms to Iran in 73, but fell clutching his own wound August 8, 1974.

Woodward, besides being a Communist, is a narcissist.

Felt carried the stench of Hoover, the director who denied organized crime until 1957.

Had Nixon indicted Fonda he might have defeated the Left's propaganda war.

I hated Nixon....and hated him up until Clintoons time I think...

then I realized...what the HELL did he ever do to deserve what he got?....he wasn't involved in the Watergate at all...he tried to protect his friends....

IIRC, he was ostracized for having 2 FBI files....Clintoon had 700!!!!

there was also talk of Nixon having the IRS go after a couple of people....HOW many Christian groups have been investigated by Clintoon and bamey boy?....

This is not to say Watergate wasn’t a serious matter,

This is what I mean, two generations of information control and every scandal being called a "gate" and nobody can say anything good about Nixon without that qualifier.

This article lays many of the facts out there in a great, logical way (articles of impeachment, etc.). Thanks for posting.

The Hiss indictment caused the left to have a hissy fit over Nixon which continues to this day and was the blueprint for Reagan and Bush derangement syndrome as well.

“1) Carl Bernstein acknowleged in his memoirs that both his parents were secret members of the US Communist Party and he was a red-diaper baby; obviously he hated Richard Nixon and oculd care less about the millions of dead in South Vietnam — he will face a much greater Judge some day than Richard Nixon ever did;”

Bernstein has never impressed me. I remember when Pope John Paul II died, Bernstein was commenting on the news about how the late Pontiff “failed to make women priests”. John Paul II didn’t fail. He just believed the priesthood is reserved for males only and behaved accordingly. It struck me as very arrogant and narcissistic of him to think he as a liberal Jew(who I assume is non-practicing) had any business lecturing on what stand Roman Catholicism takes on that issue or any other for that matter.

Erlichman once remarked that Nixon had wanted just one thing above all else, the Presidency, but that when he finally got it in his hands, he dropped and broke it.

Partisan Media Shills alert. Thanks US Navy Vet.
