General Mills opposes Minnesota amendment to ban same-sex marriage

General Mills is opposing a Minnesota amendment to ban same-sex marriage, taking a public stand on a contentious issue that most companies have tried to avoid. "We do not believe the proposed constitutional amendment is in the best interests of our employees or our state economy -- and as a Minnesota-based company we oppose it," the foodmaker said in a statement. Golden Valley-based General Mills has consistently ranked atop lists of the best corporate workplaces, including its welcoming policy toward gay and lesbian employees. But like most corporations, it has historically steered clear of controversial issues like the marriage amendment, which if passed by voters in November would place a ban on gay marriage into the state constitution.

I wish these companies would just sell their products and shut up about these issues. I’m sure General Mills probably has some good Lutherans and other folks who strongly agree with Jesus’ definition of marriage(Matthew 19:4-6) who work for them. Why aren’t their rights respected as well?

Doesn’t General Mills sell their products to Americans? I don’t do “boycotts” but I’ve spent my last penny on anything they sell. These fags need to learn to STFU and sing. If they want fag dollars more than my dollars, fine. I can work with them on that.

I don't think Sprout is of age and should be involved in such a relationship with the Jolly Green Giant.

It would be interesting to obtain and post the biographies and pictures of the principal stockholders and the officers and directors of the corporation.

What I do not understand is if a liberal individual or individuals who work for a company wants to support a certain issue, they are free to do so as individuals. But why do they insist on dragging their company into it? It’s blatantly unfair to those who may disagree with them yet have to earn a living also and work at the same company.

LOL. that’s what I call the orange box store ,too.

I’m surprised they don’t fly a rainbow flag at all their stores. Especially here in MN. I go out of my way to go to Lowes and Menards.
