Skip to comments.BEHEADED BUSH: EVOLVING 'GAME OF THRONES' EXCUSES FAIL SMELL TEST

The producers behind HBO's "Game of Thrones" would've been better off had they simple said what is likely the truth, that they hate George W. Bush and impaled his prosthetic head on a pole for the kind of childish shits and giggles the Secret Service might want to look into. Instead, they offer absurd explanations that, in my opinion, only prove what sniveling weasals (sic) they really are:

I once saw for sale urinal cakes with Obama’s photo on them.
I dislike Obama, but that was too much.
I see the Left isn’t so principled.
In before the long list of links.
I did a search and nothing showed up. I didn’t want to post the article, so I did a search to see what people had to say about it —— nothing.
All these websites moaning about this have given so much advertisement to the fact that his head was on a stake. Something which I am sure less than 1% of the viewers actually noticed while watching. On the dvd they mention that it was not intentional to use the head but they worked with what they had. Since I love the show I will give them the benefit of the doubt and believe what they say. This is being blown way out of proportion, and why do people even care about this?
The article from Breitbart points out that the first excuse was that no one on the set noticed it until it was too late, then they changed their story to they went with what they had available - B.S.
This is a despicable stunt. If it had been Obama’s head, would it have been, “just what was laying around?” No, and it would even have been called a racist stunt.
Another one for you.
The purpose of this latest ‘Tempest in a Teapot’ is to bring up the name ‘Bush’ during this election cycle. The episode this originally appeared on was over a year ago.
They (Liberals) want people to make a big deal about it to draw attention away from Romney and once again make this election Obama v. Bush. Getting upset about it now is playing into their hands.
They want you to be upset and make noise pointing to a largely popular TV series. It just makes conservatives look dumb. Be upset about unemployment, be upset about Obamacare, be upset about any number of things he’s done - ignore the tomfoolery of his supporters. It won’t stick to Obama - he didn’t put the head on a pole.
First, George RR Martin is a liberal who loathes Bush.
Second, George RR Martin is an extremely talented man, quite possibly the best we have seen in a generation in his genre.
I appreciate what the man creates, regardless of his politics. I would recommend his writing to anyone who enjoys a good story, not just the Game of Thrones stuff but his earlier works like Wild Cards.
I think that it’s plausible they had a Bush head and needed a prop - plus it’s facing away from the camera, and wearing a wig to make him look different. I really think this is much ado about nothing.
Saw it posted earlier today with a photo of the head on a “geek news” site. Despite the link title saying “topless” there’s no nudity on this page at least. Think it’s a “new movie” Star Wars joke...
Also you have to be mindful of who did the beheading etc.. If its the “bad” guys doing the beheading then it is sort of a compliment. Think about it in the same way as being hitlers enemy.
Just replace Bush with JugEars and watch the Leftist’s heads explode!
I guess they think it will create buzz and make lots of people go see the movie.
Having loved Deadwood and Rome (bought the Blu Rays) I eagerly DVR'd it.
I was underwhelmed (to say the least)
I just didn't get whatever everyone else is seeing.
I think that you’re probably right. I would like to see someone do the same with the likeness of Obama, though and watch the reaction. Maybe someone could make one of those fake shrunken heads to look like Obama and make a bobble head out of it, and see how that goes over.
Bullshit on that tripe
And i had my issues with George
“I dislike Obama, but that was too much.”
He’s emptied his bladder on us for years now, so I would have no problem returning the favor.
“we had to use what heads we had lying around.”
The fact that they had a decapitated prop head of George W. Bush lying around is enough for me to know what kind of people we are talking about.
I doubt that they intended this, but any libs on the set who thought that this would be funny only managed to imply that GW was one of Ned Stark’s men; i.e. one of the good guys. And they probably didn’t realize that since Obama is the Joffrey Baratheon of American politics, an abusive, spoiled child who throws tantrums when he doesn’t get his way, the prop makes sense from that perspective as well.

HBO and producers of "Game of Thrones" apologized Thursday for a scene that depicted former President George W. Bush's severed head on a spike. The scene first aired last year and was repeated on a DVD release in March. But in a particularly bad piece of timing for HBO, stories about it spread online this week, when the network premiered a documentary on Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush. Bush's head was one of several on spikes in a scene where King Joffrey reveals to his fiancé the severed head of her father, who he had judged disloyal. The...

HBO did not respond to our request for comment, but as outrage mounted Wednesday, they released a statement saying they were "deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste." HBO also said the scene would be removed from future DVD pressings.

LOS ANGELES -- HBO has apologized for using a model head of former President George W. Bush in a grisly decapitation scene for its hit drama "Game of Thrones." The tenth episode of the first season of "Game of Thrones," now out on DVD, features the younger Bush's head on a stake. Commentary on the DVD notes that his head appears in a "couple of beheading scenes." The show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stated that George W. Bush's was used as physical inspiration to create a head for a scene in which King Joffrey shows Sansa Stark her...

NY Times ^ | 14 June 2012 | David Itzkoff
HBO has apologized for a scene in its hit fantasy series Game of Thrones that showed the decapitated head of former President George W. Bush on a pike and said the scene will be removed from future DVD releases, the Web site io9.com reported. ... The last head on the left is George Bush, the producers say in the audio commentary. George Bushs head appears in a couple beheading scenes. Its not a choice, its not a political statement. Its just, we had to use what heads we had around.

Via Mediaite. The producers say itâs not political and that they used him just because they happened to have a spare Bush head lying around (what?), but Gothamist wants so badly to believe that it's a Gesture Of Defiance towards our deposed Hitler that I almost hope for their sake that it's deliberate. The perfunctory denial: HBO responded to CBSNewYork.comÂs request for comment on Wednesday night, offering the following statement from Benioff and Weiss:ÂWhat happened was this: we use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We canÂt afford to have these all made from scratch,...
|Fury as HBO's Game of Thrones shows President George W. Bush's decapitated head impaled on a STAKE

Politicians are calling for a boycott of HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones after the creator's 'despicable' decision to include former President George W. Bush's severed head in several scenes. In the tenth episode of the first season, Mr Bush's decapitated head is seen impaled on a wooden spike, covered in filthy long hair and slathered in dirt. Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who noted the appearance in the series' DVD commentary, insist it wasn't a political statement - just a prop. But the image has provoked outrage among some Republican politicians.

Politicians are calling for a boycott of HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones because of the creator's 'despicable' decision to include former President George W. Bush's severed head in several scenes. In the tenth episode of the first season, Mr Bush's decapitated head is barely recognizable impaled on a wooden spike, covered in filthy long hair and slathered in dirt. Hollywood partisanship rears its ugly head
As Obama spreads blame for economic crisis backward , La-La left helps him stick it to Bush 43
June 15, 2012
HBO was still apologizing for putting a rubberized President George W. Bushhead on a pike in the medieval fantasy show “Game of Thrones”when President Barack Obama put his predecessor’s head on a pike again, blaming Bush for all our problems.
“We can’t afford to jeopardize our future by repeating the mistakes of the past,” Obama said in a speech Thursday. “Not now, not when there is so much at stake. ... Of course, the economy isn’t where it needs to be.”
But the Bush heads were where they needed to be. The HBO version was a rubber one with a wig, and the version used by Obama was purely rhetorical and political.
The “Game of Thrones” controversy started when the show’s creators pointed out that a scene included Bush’s head on a pike but only because “we just had to use whatever heads we had around.” David Axelrod must have written that on a napkin.
Those producers knew exactly what they were doing. As usual, they didn’t think anyone would notice.
Sounds like time for Equal Time.
Obama heads on stakes EVERYWHERE for Halloween. After all, his policies ARE scary. . .
Congratulations, the search engine worked for you. As you can see none of the article had the same title and none of them turned up on a key word search for HBO.
I’m glad that you are so talented, you should be proud of yourself.
I chose to reserve the things I take offense at to things that actually matter. God knows there are enough of them.
You prefer to get your outrage from the pages of TV magazine.
You seem to be outraged more easily by reposted variations of the same story about tv programs than you are the egregious disrespect of a former president.
You spent quite a bit of time putting together those links.
Have a nice a day.
30 second is a lot of time?
Shouldn't you be reading up on the latest on Justin Bieber or something?
Have a nice whatever.
LOL! You must be a fast typist. I don’t even watch much TV, unlike you. I never heard of your favorite TV show and I don’t know who Justin Bieber is.
I think that you place way too much value on TV if you feel the need to spend the time defending the morons who produced this HBO series.
Like I said, have a nice day. Get out away from your TV.
