WASHINGTON -- Republican Sen. Marco Rubio-- whose reaction to the Obama administrations immigration order will likely be one of the most closely watched of his party-- issued a carefully worded statement Friday that called for helping young illegal immigrants but criticized the presidents approach.
There is broad support for the idea that we should figure out a way to help kids who are undocumented through no fault of their own, but there is also broad consensus that it should be done in a way that does not encourage illegal immigration in the future, the Florida senator said. This is a difficult balance to strike, one that this new policy, imposed by executive order, will make harder to achieve in the long run.
Todays announcement will be welcome news for many of these kids desperate for an answer, but it is a short-term answer to a long-term problem, he added. And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short-term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long-term one.

Marco! STFU
If mittens picks this Anarchist Loon Marco Rubio,I'll find someone else to vote for.
A short term answer?
End of our constitutional republic.
We’re not a nation of laws.
We changed immigration policy because Obama say so, not because the law changed. He refuse to enforce the law as sworn to do.
What is coming next
PING
We are a nation of laws, not men. Obama lamented that the "Republican House" wouldn't pass his immigration bill, so he HAD to do this. Last I checked, law starts in the House. Hell, even in our liberal progressive school systems, kids are still taught that laws start in the House.
His immigration bill was shot down with bipartisan majorities every time, and now he's ruling by fiat.
This is a declaration of war on the American people, folks.
There is broad support for the idea that we should figure out a way to help kids who are undocumented through no fault of their own, but there is also broad consensus that it should be done in a way that does not encourage illegal immigration in the future. This is a difficult balance to strike, one that this new policy, imposed by executive order, will make harder to achieve in the long run.”
That’s a pretty good answer right there, although obviously I wish that he would have been less diplomatic and said outright that what Obama is trying to do violates U.S. law and thus would be an unconstitutional act by the president.
Rubio stepped in a steaming pile - he shoulda waited to see the public’s reaction before lending his support.
Politically, a brilliant response.
He’s right. Quite frankly, I don’t have a huge objection to eventually doing this. The thing that freaks me out is that Bambi completely ignored the political process, permitted no input from congress and had no political debate. This is because he doesn’t have any ideas or the political skill to present them even if he had them...and he’s doing this just for votes.

They are here though no fault of law abiding citizens, you MF-ing piece of degenerate scum. |
One couldn’t miss the birds shirping loudly in the backround during Obambam’s statement.
THEY WERE CUCKOO BIRDS - - -
Yea, if you are fool who "worships" politicians.
Rubio is 100% in favor of EVERY illegal eventually getting citizenship. He can't come out and say it, but that is exactly the end result of the policies that Rubio supports.
Rubio is a Conservative fraud. Rubio knows the end result of what he (Rubio) wants is an America transformed into a third-world sewer.
Rubio's only reason for existing is he desire to one-day be President. Rubio wants to get the votes of hispanics. Hence, Rubio's position.
Rubio is just another slimy politician who happens to be able to "come across" as a real conservative (which he is not)
Rubio's position would only give incentive for 10's of millions of more third world scum to run across the border and start reproducing. He knows that is exactly what will happen.

Rubio: Obama only wants them to be able to vote & not get caught doing so.
Fiat decrees from the executor of laws (that’s what the President is) are unconstitutional. Rubio should only have condemned THAT. The rest is not important. He is useless and needs to be replaced.
Scratch Rubio as a possible VP ... it is SOOOO Easy to eliminate the RINOS these days ... they wave the RINO flag so high you can’t miss it. Thank you Marco.
Once again a misleading headline intended to create a false impression to those that don’t bother to read the story.
Not anymore. We're a nation of whatever Obama damned well wants.
On this one issue more than any other, any compromise means goodbye USA.
No he should have stepped up for the American people and the rule of law not the illegals.
Everybody, please at least read what Rubio said before jerking your knees (in either direction). Rubio said more than the headline or even the paragraphs shown here in the lede say.
Does that about sum it up?
Why would his political career be toast? How was he supposed to respond and what in his response has killed his future in politics?
TRAITOR RUBIO balled up pushing amnesty with Senator Kyl,Senator Hutchison has no right to speak on this issue. Obama just cut him off at the knees. Also, the Texas Repubs in cheap labor and libertarian alliance adding a party plank pushing for a “temporary worker program” also just found themselves in bed with Obama by their own treasonous deeds.
DOWN WITH THEM ALL!
TREASON SCUM!
If mittens picks this Anarchist Loon Marco Rubio,
I’ll find someone else to vote for.
I AGREE !!
Rubios response was grating.
He forgot, or doesn't care about the job he holds, the oath he took and the US Constitution.
By acquiescing to this unilateral action by Obama he is handing over to Obama his responsibility as a legislator without a whimper.
The intent of just about any Obama EO is to jerk America around outside its constitution. Any other issue is strictly secondary.
Rubio really ought to have pointed out Obama’s pattern of EO abuse.
Marco DID criticize Obama’s move
I’d like to give these young’uns the red carpet treatment... clear back to Mexico. With their folks.
He Said:
This is a difficult balance to strike, one that this new policy, imposed by executive order, will make harder to achieve in the long run.
And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short-term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long-term one.
You said: Marco! STFU
??????????????????
Sooner of later; even Freepers are going to come to realize that politicians do not give a rat’s ass about us or the Constitution...NONE of them. Ever.
Well good for Rubio for pointing out that Obama throws political monkey wrenches. Maybe not quite so good for wanting to roll out the red carpet for these young’uns (at least under most cases). We Americans didn’t force their parents to sneak in here.
For those that were advocating Rubio for VP - time to re-think!
He should not have the courage of his own convictions? He should wait to see what popular opinion is? Is this not what we criticize other politicians for? Waiting to see which way the wind blows? Not standing up for their own beliefs? Amazing.
Rather than whining, he and the GOP in general should be screaming bloody murder at the blatant usurpation of their Constitutional authority, and using every means at their disposal to reverse it. Like their lives depended on it.
He could have pointed out that Obama does not have the Constitutional authority to take this action.
That he and Obama both have taken an oath to support the law of the land and the US Constitution.
That this action violates the law of the land and Obama's oath of office.
That while he (Rubio) understands the plight of some illegals his responsibility is to the law and the citizens of the USA.
Maybe Marco (Juan McCain) Rubio really isn’t a citizen. He sure as hell has no understanding of the separation of powers clause in the Constitution.
Apparently you are very often amazed.
Well, well, well, the issue that drove the RepubLICKans out of control of the house and Senate back around 2006 or so - illegal immigration - rears its ugly head again.
I want these invaders OUT of MY COUNTRY! Is that so hard for the Republican party to understand?
Alas, both parties see the constitution as a bunch of suggestions (the GOP a little less often than the Democrats, but still...).
Hey, if these kids are too spoiled to live in Mexico from whence they were brought, then offer a class, Living In Mexico 101, for them. Mexico considers them Mexicans anyhow.
It took me years to “follow due process and become a citizen”
Put these kids at the end of the damn line and if they don’t like that send them home.
thinking........
Just send them home, I am so tired of criminal behavior being rewarded. Damn tired
Well, if he has now arrogated the powers of a dictator who promotes the rights of lawbreakers over US citizens, what's to stop him from deciding to toss US citizens out of the country (or throw them in jail, or worse)?
Oh skeeter, no.. Takes alot to amaze me. I have lived many years and been active in Texas politics for a long time. I have worked for and with politicians and the Republican party here. Takes alot to amaze me. I just do not understand the changes here. First we were aghast at perjury. Now, we favour perjury. First, we were condemning politicians for waiting to see which way the wind blows. Now we are for it. Next, dogs and cats will be sleeping together. What do I know?
Well dog my cat!
More than your posts reveal, I'm sure.
His response is a joke.
